The KOF 98 and KOF 02 games were interludes to give SNK more time to flesh out suitable story arcs and probe customer preferences, so KOF All Stars uses these "chapters" to introduce drastic deviations without disrupting the timeline of the "main" games, almost like the player is having particularly vivid dreams.

I almost feel like the player is making friendships in these stories, unlike the original arcade games that focus on fighting. The player is basically trying to find his or her purpose in life through fighting, much like Ryu from Street Fighter.

It just shows the sloth that developers have that they would only make a good character for themselves, not for the fans. He was just made to look cool to outshine K9999, not to be a reoccurring character, as bringing him to a canonical game would cause issues with 2001 unless they treat him like the Kyo clone KUSANAGI (was in 2002 before canonically in 2003) which will (obviously) never happen. KOF all star finally fixed that problem. The part Ryugo says in 1:19:35 says something like this and said something about a mistake and memories. This suspiciously sounds like a reference to K9999 (a “mistake” that lives on in memories until KOF XV), built up and covered by regrets.

@@juanca2567 You are Right. SNK has manage to explain Story of Nameless with the help of KOF ALL STARS. KOF ALLSTARS is playing a major role in explaining the story in detail of there Characters and Series.

@@avinavsinha757 Since all star explains basically what was already confirmed, I thought Nameless was a lost cause. I’m glad that SNK actually went through the trouble of giving him closure in the story. Too bad he will only appear in 2002, as the problem with him being in the cannon isn’t solved (unless SNK changes their mind and called him the 10000th Kyo clone right after K9999 (Krohnen), but even then, where was he all that time for the Tales of Ash and half of the Shun’ei saga?).

@@juanca2567 I agree with you ! If SNK revived NAMELESS just like TEAM OROCHI , KROHNEN , ASH then How would they going to explain the Relation between him and other Characters.
SNK need a valid reason to add NAMELESS or ZHE PRIME to the main roster of future KOF Games.
The other way is they could add him in DLC. Who will have no story line. They could also add him as a new character who is unknown to others in KOF but I don't support that option.
I also feel that he should be in KOFXV since he has the RED FLAMES. I really wanted to see his RED FLAMES in KOFXV Graphics And we have seen the other flames of different characters there are looking so Beautiful. Either IORI , ASH, K DASH, KYO , SHUN EI etc.

@@avinavsinha757 The biggest problem of introducing Nameless into the cannon other than K9999 is his motivation. Only thing I can think of is both him and Isolde being revived by the rumored Reverse (Verse upgrade in KOF XV).

Well, this is different than the original KOF 2002 story. Instead of Omega Rugal being the final boss again, we have BS Nameless as the final boss of this KOF 2002 story. I bet they’re gonna add Kusanagi as the next BS fighter in the future.
Regardless, that is the end of the NESTS saga, though I’m surprised that KOF 2002 takes place after Epic Quest Episode 2. Now we wait for the Tales of Ash saga, probably like a year, more or less, give or take.

A point that need to be make about KUSANAGI is that... Besides he have a unique render, his model is still based of from the old, school Kyo models, just reskinned and his eyes are bloodshot red. But i notice a small difference... On his back, the Kusanagi flame crest is actually present in his model unlike the old models where it's not even there... But that's the only difference i noticed. You took him out quickly, so we don't get to see his full showcase. Seriously, NM... Why can't you guys just use SS school Kyo as his model which is a far better, and polished model than the old Kyo models?
Now that NESTS Saga is done, Ash saga is on it's way and as for the line-up... I have a hunch that "Ash Saga" Kyo when he gets a reveal... He would be a FES fighter like what they did with Nests Kyo... And KUSANAGI, wonder if we ever could get him playable... Which he would be, again... A FES fighter. But who knows...
