Good info about the coarse sharpener. Naturally I thought I needed to use coarse first and then fine but you are correct to point out that the coarse is not necessary and could do harm if used on a slightly dull blade. I had a Rapala one like this but it wasn’t as sturdy and didn’t have the rubber boots.
I just got a new otf knife and it had some tiny dents that I couldn't get rid of with the coarse side and I think I was making it worse. Just did the ceramic and it's now razor sharp lmao
I have used one for 4 years and i still use it,i put metal polisher on the ceramic edge and only use the carbide side on cheaper knives and remember carbide is fine to use just dont push and pull hard go very lightly more times then hard for 4.
Tungsten carbide is very aggressive yes. It removes a lot of material very fast. For very heavily chipped edges this might work very well but not for day to day use.
I bought one in 2008. I just sharpened all the knives in my kitchen with it. My mom brought a knife she got from work that was completely dull (looked like someone was trying to cut concrete). It sharpened up pretty quick. Not bad for a 3$ knife sharpener that's 12 years old. I just bought another to keep with my fillet knives.
Ikr!! This is how most videos make me feel and sure we could fast forward but I prefer to increase the speed of playback, usually the speed right above normal, 1.25X, is good enough although this is more about personal preference. Try it sometime , I'm certain you will be pleased.
I'm really pleased with this! It works like a charm ruclips.net/user/postUgkxDcr-y2Pf6xdnrFHrSP7dl9kpKaCozcSQ Takes less time than my old electric sharpener because it can take more off the knife faster, and then it smooths out nicely with the finer grit polisher. I don't know how long it will last before the grit wears away, but I wouldn't mind having to replace it every once in a while.
Ok I’m 17 and I have a lot of these and I cannot sharpen a knife with these ceramic and carbide sharpeners to save my life no matter how consistent and gentle I am or how many strokes I take my knifes (which are all reasonably sharp) never get an edge sometimes appear even duller what am I doing wrong???
You aren't supposed to be gentle you're supposed to put a good bit of pressure but not too much, I had this problem when I first got mine and then I put pressure on it so try that.
Yes I just used it to sharpen my D2 Kershaw that got full from doing Carpentry it took about 25 passes to get an edge on it, but it's back to a great polished edge!
When your knife goes dull while using it on fish or meat, you run it 3 times through the ceramic side and keep cutting. I keep mine on hand when butchering deer because the bones dull the blade quickly. Stones are nice for a nice edge, but for a quick sharp edge when you don't have 10-20 min to use a stone this is a lot more efficient.
Efficient? In what sense? Stones take up more space. Require more maintenance. Sharpening takes longer. Require more experience to sharpen properly. Are more expensive. Are more fragile. I could go on
@@allosMD I love this sharpener, because whenever I use a stone, I end up scratching all down the side of the blade which leaves it ugly. This little sharpener maintains that new knife look! Fantastic and easy.
@@MrSuperheterodyne yeap, it might not be the best sharpener for our knives, but it is relatively easy to use compared to a wetstone, and it gets the job done.

I bought one for my self and then bought 7 more to give out to friends and family. They work so fast and so well.
Smiths 2 step sharpener
3:10. Begins sharpening

I got mine from temu for NOT EVEN $1. AND IT WORKS GREAT... IK PPL dnt like temu but the 1 i got it WELLLL worth it
I got one by Anglo Arms here in the UK I was scared of using it at first incase I made my Blade worst but I'm going to use it now.
Just get to the point we don’t have all day
Aye hood
💀
You can fast forward. You do have a thumb.
oh be nice

It's a good handy sharpener!
you should use a 45° angle when using the ceramic for sharpening. It’s supposed to work better
*Interesting knife sharpener. Just yesterday I posted a video of a vintage knife sharpener very similar to yours. ;-)*
Best sharpener I’ve ever had.
@@oDIRECTORo I agree the sharpener is good, but if it had a handle, it would increase its convenience.
Thanks for video. My kitchen knives are super sharp now.
Glad to have helped!
I dont know it didnt work the way i like. My dad is really crafty with a knife and the magic he can do with a stone is crazy sharp.
a stone is better than a sharpener but you need to be proficient
I brought the deluxe edge grip for 10. All my defense nifes and hunting ones
can it be use for a kukri style knife?
a bit difficult but it could done..!
Hell I use mine for kitchen knife
I was just pushing and pulling, didnt know it was just pulling 😂
I had one of those but the ceramic rods rolled so it wasn't doing anything
bad luck i guess! mine still works fine..
I tried to find what angle this sharpening produces, but no success. I have Lansky one and it has 22.5 degrees, but this angle looks smaller.
It's a pretty steep angle, since it is meant for fillet knives that are very thin and flexible.
@@TwoStageTrigger Thank you
Will it work with scissors?
Yes, though scissors in general have a thicker edge than a knife, you can always use the coarse side of the sharpener
Great advice
thanks for the feedback!
The ONLY problem is with pocket knife can`t get to the end of the blade.
Wow this is literally the same exact one I have lol.
Thanks for the comment!
Ha I’ve never used the ceramic side !
Slight correction thanks to you and now I have sharper knives 🔪👌🏾
If this product available in mauritius please
Don't know..check Amazon, ebay
Mine will sharpen the knife and I’ll do a test cut on paper
It’ll cut clean but the cut immediately after it is dull as it rips the paper
Well it also depends on the blade quality..my knives stay sharp for more than that!
Got one love it
I just got one and am not impressed with it

Rusty Shackleford you might be pushing a bit too hard.
use a whetstone

I got a fake one for 70p works the same 😂
Solognac sharpener for 5P on decathlon, does the exact same
I got one too but I paid £1.50 for mine.
you didn't fallow the instructions
Only for expensive knives!
I used it for my machete. Can I?
It is a small tool for a machete, but if you have nothing else, I guess it can do the job!
Apparently so because you did. lol
Are you asking to do something that you already have done?
Can u put an edge on d2 steel with this? Thanks
I put an very sharp edge on my Lowe’s $20 machete.. I was SHOCKED how well it sharpened it.
Yes I just used it to sharpen my D2 Kershaw that got full from doing Carpentry it took about 25 passes to get an edge on it, but it's back to a great polished edge!
Downside for pocket knives you Can't get the first quarter inch
Jesus loves you
wow 10 times
I have one of these I did 30 x on both sides of the sharpener and nothing sharp enough it'll scalp you
You need to learn Spanish
seguramente!
whetstones are much more effective/ efficient
I agree, yet this is easier to use.. with the stone you have to be consistent with the angle that you use.
