I start T6’s in March 2021 at CAFB. I’m nervous but excited as hell... can’t wait to get back up in the air after they teased with the DA-20. It looks hella fun!
Good luck. Learned to fly at CAFB myself. Class 12-12. Read “Boyd.” A phenomenal student once recommended this book to me and it changed my perspective on everything Air Force. Ask yourself, “To be, or to do?” Be humble and you’ll be alright.
@@dks13827 Currently in the sims/academics phase, last exam is next week. The sims are a ton of fun and an awesome challenge, definitely a firehose of information to the brain haha. Should be hitting the flight line in a few weeks or so after a simcheck!
This plane seems so special flying a raptor is cool and all but something about this little t6 seems so fun to fly. It kinda reminds me of a atv or dirt bike when they get too big it's just not as enjoyable because you can never push it to the max. Or if you can its just for a few secs especially on a trail but you hop on a 250 and you can WOT the entire time and have a blast
Joy of flying. Joy of freedom not being grounded any more. Perfect mix of images and music give me exactly those feelings I even do not tried to understand just enjoyed savagely, truly, wildly! Thank you Hopefully no war, no invasion
Update: Never took the exam. The day before I was supposed to take it, the HOTAS they had broke and I couldn't take the test. It was futile anyway because I injured my knee a couple of days later... Dream ain't dead but sure as hell it's in a coma.
Air Force specific: Need to become an officer. Either the academy, ROTC, or OTS. Recommend Academy since they are allotted more pilot slots. I’m from ROTC and getting a pilot slot was about a 10% chance in 2010, at my unit. If you want to fly fighters, recommend rushing a guard or reserve unit.
@@theSWAGflyer Great flight sir. You got to do what I dreamed of the whole time I was growing up but the dream ended when I had to get glasses in highschool. I have been a Private Pilot for 41 years now and I love to fly aerobatics. Sure would like to have flown the F-16 though. You and your cohorts are the only men in the world that I envy.
@@terryheo3464 very well may be the case. If weighing options for onboarding someone with flight experience vs. without, it seems that flight experience would be a better sell.
I’d love to see more videos like this. My son is just starting UPT this month at Columbus AFB. (Proud!)

@@theSWAGflyerI heard that a lot of guard or resetve units require prior flight experience.
