Hey. I wouldn’t wear gloves if I were you, it will make it much easier for the saw to grab your hand and really mangle it as opposed to just a cut without gloves. Not trying to be rude or obnoxious, just want you to be safe!
That is a breast of a bandsaw. Wish I had the power in my shop to run a saw that big. I am stuck with 1.75HP and 120V. I like the table extensions. I made my own for my Rikon as they are none commercially available. I'd like to suggest a sled or carriage for planking out logs. You won't be fighting the uneven underside of the log riding on the table, it will rest on the sled and the sled will glide smoothly over the table making for a much easier cut. Sled does not have to be thick and cost you much resaw capacity, I used a piece of 6061T6 aluminum plate 1/4" thick to make mine and attached a runner to the underside. I use a sled all the time on my BS and it's great. I use it more than the sled for the table saw.
@@tylersmith9868 :-( Wish I'd known that 4 years ago. I have a couple Holly logs I've been wanting to slab out for a couple years now. Though I would wait until it was good and dry. I never researched anything about drying Holly so didn't know. I just sealed the ends and stuck it in my shed for the past 4 years. Now I'm afraid to cut it open and find out I ruined it.
Hi, I have the same model, I wonder how did you set your ceramic sliders, with a minimal gap, kissing or rubbing? I know how to set them, didn't figure out yet what is best setting, i just got the saw 3 months ago
I'm just curious, where do you get all of these great pieces of old wood? You have some of the most wonderful and what some people would consider exotic woods to work with.
Hello Greg, all of the wood that I am using in the videos "other than sheet goods" I have cut down from the garden of my old house, its all trees that have died or branches that dropped. I have chain saw'ed them were they fell as there was no access for any extraction gear so took for ever to plank were they fell, the Walnut took me over 3 months on and off .. the Holly look sick for years then the top broke of in storm. I try to use this stock for smaller items or it will just all good and my new place have very little tree's of age so don't expect much dead wood. but I am on the look out for a local wood to see if I can lend a hand for some odd cuts of Oak etc ... Cheers
I have some holly in my log shed but it's white probably whitest hardwood I have seen. I can't cut it to planks because it's to small for that but I will use it for chess board

Oh, English Holly, American Holly is white, extremely soft grain and little to no knots. If you've seen African Blackwood, think the exact opposite of that!
You ended up with some really beautiful material there. Very nice color and grain variety. Well done!
Thank you, I will be working on a project this summer with these can't wait :)
Beautiful grain patterns. I am assuming there is a lot of spalting too.

I was expecting holly to be whiter. I have a few logs of it in my stash for a few years, this is encouraging me to mill it now.
I can't wait to use it . maybe this summer ..
I have some Holly that is almost pure white. I remember reading it needs to be kiln dried immediately after cutting to avoid it going blue

I did not even think I could put on a wood mizer blade. And wet wood cuts too?
Works great

I have a video on this some where ,have a look back Thx
I love Holy - wood and that is no exception. The spalting really pops on those pieces I would be careful breathing it in
