If you don't have a 3d printer, and you have accumulated enough havoc launchers from the vehicle sprues, with a little filing you can set them on cataphractii to make really clean looking Tyrant siege terminators.
Galaxy brain thinking - learn how to recast. Cataphractii are super easy to cast due to being chunky (and any holes are free "battle damage") and you don't even need all parts - legs, torso (minus tabard, cut armoured one one from strips of plasticard) and head as one solid chunk (it will be monopose, but you may do 2-3 moulds, or maybe just recast parts separately). Setup like that would probably cost less than $20-30 if you'll buy small batch of silicone and resin. Use plastic arms to build Catapracti with claws, and resin bodies + spare arms + extra bits as Tyrants. Bonus - any gaps and miscasts can be filled with "Iron Warriors" gribbles, like plugs, armour pieces, pipes etc. Here is actual tutorial someone made for Tyrants. ruclips.net/video/fn3YrnE3WNs/видео.html
@@blackbriargaming5483 yeah I’ve been running 10 and I’ve been starting to think it’s overkill. I would never run 30 if you did that you would be THAT GUY
As someone who runs mechanized and has dealt with Iron Warriors at events, I can definitely attest to them being the bane of such a list. Granted, I've found that IW being almost a hard counter by default is kind of the exception - most other players I've encountered usually struggle against mechanized lists by not permitting themselves sufficient tools across their armies to be able to deal with it.
It has done them justice, and I have enjoyed the ride along the way. My other legion is the Alpha Legion, so I was pretty damn happy when you came out of the gate in a 20-to-1 order! Keep up the amazing work@@blackbriargaming5483 !!
My Tyrant Siege have Kromlech missile launchers on standard cataphractii, my Dominators have the mk3 thunder hammers on standard cataphractii. I'm going to make my veteran close combat oriented with picks, shovels and other sapper equipment, as soon as I find a decent source!
All i gotta say is that dominators being labeled as just good is a bit of an understatement considering they are WS5 cataphractii with thunderhammers for the same cost as regular cataphractii with powerfists
Snub autocannon on sabres is also really nice for iw, as it is S7 (8 on vehicles) with 5+ rending. Put a shrapnel bolter on roof and you have a fast, cheap versatile anti armour, dread hunting and infr pinning tank.
I turned some the mk6 into recon units with that uograde that helps artillery be ause in lore iron warriors during a seige after orbital bombardment and bomber strikes use recon to sabatage anti air defences to helo secure a landing zone so having recon units specialy designed to help heavy fire hit weak spots made sense to me
Thallax are AMAZING. A potential 19 inches of terrain ignoring movement in a turn, and that extra movement off a reaction. They certainly give the Legions something they don't otherwise have access to. Stubborn 7 is also about as good as it gets for regular infantry. AND they're deceptively tough. Especially if you're clever with them.
It sure has! I had to finish this series. I owed it to the Legions. Just needed to find the time in between all the games I've been playing! It's a hard life 🙃
I turned a cataphracti into my warsmith by giving him some sorts from the soartans general tank uograde kit using the plasma pnicle gun and some parts to make a robot claw arm on his back with a plasma gun on his shoulder
I was wondering how good the MK3 Army Box with the Land Raider and the Deredeo Works with the Iron Warriors. Is this a better starting Box for the Iron Warriors? Could you give a advise how i could expanse from this Boxset for a little Iron Warrior Army? i think the MK3 Armor looks way better for the Iron Warriors than the MK6.
To that box, add a Warsmith, 10 additional Tactical Legionaries (for 2 20-man squads), and 5-7 Tyrant Siege Terminators. 2 Castellax Automata don't hurt either. From there, you could add 10 Iron Havocs with Autocannons, Breachers, or a Dominator Coven, or fluff like a Sicaran. As long as you have plenty of Shrapnel Bolter infantry, you're well on track!
Ha ha, sure did, wasn't going to do one but I could! Bit of an analysis on the meta. Hilariously, it did have most of the biggest names in Australian Heresy there. In Cootamundra... 😅
In points AND monies. If you think they're cool. Run them! Never let points efficiency dictate what you play. Heresy has to be about what makes you smile. Leave the min/max lists to 40k 😋
I’ve played this combination for a while, and what you have to realize is that your Night Lords are not going to be able to take objectives. Which is OK, it’s fluffy that they want to be the ones who murder things well, the iron Warriors stand in the back, march up the board, and actually win the fight. Throw some night raptors in with a praetor w/jump pack, take some snipers with prey sight , and I’ve been experimenting with an esoterist w/jump pack with an assault marine squad (the count is 22 models for the purposes of our numbering, which lets you pip his like 12 str 5 ranged attacks from AP 4 to AP3, so it shreds power armor.)
I would not play havocs with lascanon They are more expensive than a basic support squad with techmarine/cognis Keep them as is with autocanons and you're gtg Thanks for the vid 🙂
Unfortunately you can't put Dominators in a Spartan. Their only transport option is a proteus for squads of 5. I have had fun with a unit of 10 and a warmonger so they can teleport down but that won't work with Hammer of Olympia.
I am an Iron Warriors guy… So much you jumped over. And subterranean assault is a play style you should mention because it’s so different with Iron Warriors.
Can someone explain why you'd ever run dominators they seem pretty bad as from what I'm seeing on BS they're just termis with no invuln which makes them insta to every thing that can bypass there 2+ save
For y’all information (as a long time iron warriors player) pinning on shrapnel weapons is per wound by weapon, not per wounds dealt. So pintle mounted twin-linked shrapnel bolters are a decent choice for max pinning potential on vehicle and shrapnel pistols on tac sergeant.
@@Peter-xz5dl you could run it that way, but if you play fast dice you have to run it like that. I got the idea from an other RUclipsr. Think of it this way, the only time you roll a pinning test is after failed a armor save, ergo you would have to roll it after each weapon that caused a wound. Example, I fire all of my tactical squads bolters at an enemy tac squad, all the bolter hits cause a leadership test. If I fired a bolt pistol as well, then, if it hits it would cause that unit to roll a separate save for that weapon. Hence forcing your enemy to roll two checks per unit instead of just one for only running one weapon that could pin.
I always thought you had to take at least 1 Arquitor, Basilisks or Medusa in Ironfire even if you don't take any cavalry. That's great if you don't tho, they are garbage.
The most common reading I've heard is that you must have more than cavalry, and 0 is not more than 0, so that tracks. In all honesty I think depends on your group, my group isn't going to be that literal

Advice on a 1,000 point list? I was given a Siege Breaker and 30 MKIII units by my brother " Not needing them for his Word Bearers ".
I really really enjoy running rapier heavy bolters they’re 40 points to help take care of infantry
I constantly debate whether it's worth taking Sabres in my IW games, cheap non- heavy support tanks is a plus, but they're pricy little gun trucks
