the first craft that reached Jupiter in real life was in 1972 , we are 6 years ahead of history . at this speed we will find a black monolith in Tycho crater by 2001

Tsiolkovsky's margins are naturally extremely tight, but I wonder: is 300 m/s enough to do a (truncated) Galileo style tour of the main moons? Cassini's Delta-v budget in IRL was just 742 m/s, and that lasted for 13 years of orbiting Saturn and doing literally hundreds of flybys. It would certainly net a lot more science then just simply orbiting Jupiter...

So, it seems like the USA is ahead on lunar exploration, but the Soviets have the lead in interplanetary exploration - at least for now.
