Just got my copy today brother! Half way through the book! Thank you so much for sharing your story, it relates a lot to my life and to this day, I continue to learn how to cope with my past trauma. Learned a lot already from just the few chapters I’ve read. I strongly recommend this book to anyone and is something I wish more people shared. Again, thanks for the stories and experiences you’ve shared with us. I hope you know that your actions and advice have made a huge positive impact on my life and others! Keep up the good work brother!
University policy changes. When I applied to Yale years ago, you only had one shot. Now they allow people to reapply. I ended up at Oxford which was my first choice. So it didn't matter. Back to military subject, I hurt my knee in basic and was told I could not go airborne. I passed airborne physical 3 years later and went to Airborne school, got my wing🤷♂️
Love bucks upload schedule, he always seems to put out new videos on the days where I'm gonna be rucking or running the hardest and it keeps me focused on the goal
I’m applying for 18x after college. I’m a little nervous because I don’t wanna fail from something like an injury or not being selected at the end. A lot of the recruiters I’m talking to are trying to get me to go infantry first but I still feel like 18x is the way to go.
Same here brother. Been training for about a year after college and hope to sign around July. I’ve heard the same thing but I’ve also heard that if you know this is what you want to do, go do it. If they don’t select you, you can always go back and try again.
@@parkeresposito9554 yeah I’ve been working my ass off to get all my numbers up and run and ruck times down. I’m in great shape so hopefully I can make it through selection. I don’t wanna be anything else but special forces so I’m gonna stick with 18x. Appreciate it man
My son's is about to graduate from the Q course, and the one thing he says to succeed is having a unbreakable mindset. Best of luck to you gentlemen! Be great! 🇺🇸🤘🏼
My good buddy I served with is a rater at SFAS so I'll pass on some simple nuggets from conventions I've had with him: 1. Give every task 100%. Do not attempt to max the minimum because they will notice. 2. Be a team player and help your buddies! 3. Ruck, ruck, and then ruck some more. Then run, then go ruck again. If you're a rucking powerhouse you can help your buddies. 4. A lot of selection is not just how well you do something but HOW you do something or how you take a fail. 5. Don't listen to dumb f**ks. Listen to the cadre and pay attention in your classes. They are setting you up for success 6. Most important: STAY MOTIVATED and watch out for the "quit bug". Quitting is contagious in Army schools, especially SFAS level courses. I remember being blown away that folks were standing up and quitting in Airborne school. It was legit the easiest school I did in the Army. Hell, I would even go as far to call it fun. Good luck brother!
Don’t let the recruiter change your mind. You can get injured just as easily as an 11b in the conventional Army. If you wanna be SF, take 18X. Worst case scenario is you don’t get selected and you’re off to the big army anyways and you can always go back and try again. Recruiters are not your friend, they just want numbers. Don’t take no for an answer! Just my advice, good luck!
Man......since I found your channel I’ve learned so much. The biggest thing was to stop regretting that I never went in and to just live my life and apply your teachings to it.......your shit really helps. 👊
Just finished the book last night and I believe it’s one of the best books I’ve read in a while. His stories and teachings are so powerful and no matter who you are, you can always learn a thing or two from anyone! Rate this book 10/10! Caught my attention right away the first few chapters and really liked how you organized the whole book on explaining your stories, trials and tribulations. Was laughing when you included slaying the dragon like from Game Of Thrones lmao 🤣 but loved that metaphor! Thanks again for everything you do, god bless.
I’ve seen a lot of great guys come out the 18x to the Ranger Batt. They were more in shape and have humbled themselves. They submitted to the training.
I noticed you mentioned that one scenario with the map guy in various videos. I love how that clearly stresses, don't ever ever ever do like what that guy did in SFAS.
I know this is too soon for me because im about to enlist and ship off to BT, but this guy really clears everything up, what an absolute beast a man. Im gonna remember these words all through out basic training.
God bless ya brother. Former 13b I was a shitbag not gonna lie bit I learned a lot of what not to do. Always volunteer and never take the easy way out. I don't think I'm still eligible to go back into the army but I'm glad I had the experience. En Avant bro
Buck I can't wait for my ship date! End of April is the beginning of the SF path for me and I can't wait for your vids and insights everytime they come out. It gets me pumped and motivated!
Hey Buck, I appreciate you making this video. I recently went to SFAS in January class 03-21 (awesome experience). I made it to land nav and did not make it, and I got a ARSOF NTR. I dont know what for honestly. The SGM would not tell me. Or any Cadre, really. It really broke me and it was my first time going to Selection, but it gave me the fuel and the courage to push through my military career and gave me that mentality to "Never give up and keep on going". Thank you again for making videos and keep kicking ass! FYI: THE COLD SUCKS but fun hahaha
An ARSOF NTR is usually because you answered something in your psychology exam that they wouldn’t want in the ARSOF community. Or when you saw the interviewers they possibly thought that if deployed you could come back harm yourself or others .
On point brother! There is no NTR on determination! There is NO QUIT in recognizing limitations, in fact those that do comprehend limitations can be more of an asset.
Actually, I think it is a good lesson. There are plenty of people that would see a task that sucks and think "wow, I'm glad I get the easy part of just holding the map", not realizing that the Green Berets are looking for a guy willing to get his hands dirty. Like Buck said, there may be another job in the Army where it's a virtue that the leader does not join the grunts but is directing the bigger picture.
Yeah, the NTR doesn't always apply, at least back when I was doing the OCE contract between 03' and 07'. It may have changed, like the wind and the current change of command philosophy on who is "good enough but not just right now". I had seen students that weren't prepared to lead themselves to the latrine let alone lead several other potential pipe-hitters on a mission. They would be boarded and released, NTR'd, not only for mission related stuff but other violations also. A couple of months later they are back in the program. I worked SUT. A few had got their shit together, but some were back just as fucked up as a soup sandwich can get. It did impact the training team/squad they were part of. Keep in mind I was SUT for 4 1/2 years and not part of the Selection program.
Nothing I can say here that hasn't already been said. Your videos are great. Quick and to the point but also down to earth. Too many videos out there try and take it way too seriously and I think that intimates future prospects. The way you explain even the negatives, it's always in a calm manner more conducive to learning. My one question is: Im sure its in a comment section on one of your videos but what is the name of the song in your outro?
As an 18X, you can get a second chance at selection but ONLY if you receive a 6 month return. Anything past that you go to RA, but this is a great video. Once again, another banger!
Years(many) ago, I was a nonselect and I took it really hard and never tried again because I was just crushed. But-now- I see in hindsight what someone saw about myself. I was too immature and wouldn’t have been a good fit because of it. Leave your feelings at home. In my opinion, the system worked. I don’t regret my experience (now) but I have used it to tell high school kids a little of what to expect. I wish your channel the best of luck and appreciate what you do. These young people are lucky to be able to get this kind of insight from you.
Great videos especially with the motivation and the audio quality. My dream is to become a Green Beret when I'm older. Do you know any Green Beret Officers that had an asthma waiver or any type of medical waiver?
I think the big takeaway is to recognise your flaws and use those failures as lessons... the other routes to SF are there but you need to recognise the reason and take ownership, make a change to make it work... X UK 🇬🇧 Army 👍
I'm from Poland, I watched a lot of videos wiht Polish, US, UK, France, German SFs, but from your videos I learned the most. You always explain everything as if you were talking to young boy, I never served, but when you explain something, I understands it immediately (like video with CCT) ;). BTW - have you ever met Polish SF guys (GROM, Formoza, JWK)? If yes what are your thoughts/feelings about them? Maybe you can share any memory in video or something like that? p.s. your book will be available in EU - Poland (of course in english)?
Love your lessons and I was wondering if there will be other book signings and where? i live in New Hampshire and tbh if i had the resources to go i would drive all the way to get a signed book and meet with you in person. But my overall question is about the book signings. If you decide to do more, where and when? Like i said i live in New Hampshire but NH is a tiny state. But from my family to yours, we love you. Your doing amazing and we love your lessons. its taught us a lot, especially me. And just know, you got fans in NH. No matter the size of the state or a small small town like where i live. You got fans. Keep it up and god bless your family.
Hey Buck I was curious if you could do an explanation of what happens if you pass selection but fail a part of Q course, if you’ve known anyone who faced that situation or any experiences you’ve seen. Seriously appreciate the videos!
I'm not sure if this counts as an NTR, but back in 2017, I tried to join the military (all branches, including the national guard) and I got disqualified because I have autism (even though my autism is at a level at which I can function like a normal adult and am perfectly able to take care of my self). I was in Army JROTC when I was in high school, though. By the way, thank you for your service, Buck!🇺🇸👊
Sorry to hear that brother, but there are many ways we can make a difference. I’m 51 years young and have no hope of ever doing any of the things Buck has accomplished, but I’ve started to get in the best shape of my life, in large part to the inspiration I’ve received from guys like him. Good luck 👍🏽
There is or was at one point a waiver process for NTR's although it is probably unlikely to work. Aside from that there have been SFAS classes where all non selects have been given the NTR. As a SF recruiter put it, "sometimes the schoolhouse just falls in love with it and I don't understand it". Pretty messed up that it's not reserved for ethical violations only rather convenience for the ones who run the course.
Heed his words! In all my years, I have seen too many times where there was another way to get "there". It just takes perseverance. And, by the way, that's one thing that Spec Ops absolutely requires of their people.
Hey Buck love the vids! I’m about to sign a true try one contract through 19th group in Utah. You should do a financial video and how much guard operators get paid! Any info is greatly appreciated bro keep up the great work!
What happened to the guy who snitched on one of your teammates (when you guys had all agreed that it wouldn't be reported because the guy owned up to the mistake) when the teammate had an accidental discharge during the paintball exercise? Hopefully, that guy wasn't selected either?
@@jimmymartino5433 I'll look at it again but I don't think he did. He only talked about what happened to the teammate who was actually dimed out by the snitch. It was the video he made about peer evaluations and and their role in SF selection and the Q course.
Man... When I was in training in 1985, I got caught playing/ teaching a bunch of other trainees poker, specifically Texas hold'em. The drill sgt freaked out. He said he was gonna recycle all of us to start basic again. Oh no! He said he was gonna change our mos to cook, or inflight sabot mechanic. Worse than NTR. To me, coming from Texas, playing poker was just a part of life. Everybody did it. Even preachers! I thought I was doing these guys a favor. Anyway, I never, ever played again on base.😜
Hey bro! Great content as always! I was wondering if you could do an ordered list and your experience of different phases during the Q. Also if there is any variance in when you attend each phase. I know in the past it was pretty structured, but now I have heard some candidates get something like SERE first.
You're in a really good position then, I would've loved if I had interest in this career field at that age, and you're getting a jump start. Hope you know about the Ones Ready podcast, they've given great advice to people underage interested in becoming a special operator on what they could do that young to help them be ready
Way back in the sixties I spent my youth in ROTC. I was on the drill team. I was on the rifle team ( Remington 513T). We were all being trained for OCS and then to Viet Nam. I lived on several Army bases: Millington Air Naval Base. And Fort Breckenridge in Morganfield Kentucky. I could field and detail strip blindfolded. We had authentic replicas of viet nam villages. Punji sticks. The whole nine yards. When I received my draft notice I was so happy that I went out partying. Drinking. We got in a fight and ended up in jail. A couple weeks later I got another letter. I was designated 1y. I was devastated. To this day it hurts. I never got to serve. While other kids were tossing footballs I was busy stripping 50 cal and m79. And m16. And that heavy cumbersome m1. The biggest regret of my life. I applaud you and all who serve. One of my drill instructors had half a face. He was just back from in country. And his wounds were fresh. And i also got to see agent orange up close. Peace and love to all. Error. We had m14. Not m16.
I recently went to SFAS and ended up VWing after the STAR Course, ended up getting ARSOF NTR, and I deeply regret making that decision. Learning from my mistakes, was wondering if I have a chance to get the opportunity to go back again to SFAS if I submit a waiver?
Hey I just wanted to put it out there because you seem to be building a really conscientious operator community here you know I had flat feet and asthma and I had a broken spine and a neck injury so they were all kinds of reasons I couldn’t go the military route but through training and persistence I was eventually able to become a corporate spook and through years of hard work and dedication to my trade I am now working with steely eyed missile men test pilots and DARPA egg heads. The military is not the only path to spooky fun time. In fact I’d say the way that my life has/is worked out now has created more lucrative opportunities for personal wealth development and access to information that if I had been military would’ve been restricted and my actions pertaining to that information would’ve had a lot more oversight .
Buck, how short were the shortest SF soldiers you've seen? Also, I've ordered your book and absolutely cannot wait to read it. Will there be more book signings?
If that map guy has the same attitude for Ranger Regiment or Marine Raiders (training and mission similar Special Forces), he won't be selected either.
Whats up Buck? Currently in the Reserves as a Drill Sergeant and have been talking to a NG SFG about joining them. They mentioned SFRE, do you know anything about it? and what to expect during those 4 days? What they will be looking for as a candidate? from my understanding its a "selection for selection". Thanks for any advice in advanced!
What happens if you get injured and you can’t complete selection? Will that count as one of your tries? It would be bullshit if someone got an ntr because they kept getting hurt.
Thank God for you Buck, for inspiring Young girls, that would not have ever happened in my childhood, I just hope and pray I live to see "Fi"nally A woman GreenBeret., because I Know God has your backs, and he also has your front.♥🦉🦅🕊

Hey I think we could sit down some day and have a really cool in-depth talk about special access communities I’ve been living in the west coast aerospace intelligence civilian community for about 25 years now as a child as a young adult as a student and now as a professional if you read popular mechanics National Geographic and the sociological textbooks they say that breakaway societies within gene pools are the precipitators of evolution airy adaptation. The character trait and Personal psyche profiles of what the military is looking for is pretty classified but there is a lot of discussion about what constitutes a breakaway society the skills the breeding and the philosophical values that make up those social contracts within those closed societies. I’m pretty sure we live in breakaway Society now because I’ve had to put a bag over my head and signed paperwork that said I wouldn’t talk specifically about the Willy Wonka machines I’ve seen my friends and colleagues building for the past 15 years that if I were to just start blabbing about you and your friends would have to get it in a night Hawk and ensure the petrodollar on the other end of the coin. Closed societies are running this world, To seek membership is probably a responsible self betterment pathway.

Hey Buck I was curious if you could do an explanation of what happens if you pass selection but fail a part of Q course, if you’ve known anyone who faced that situation or any experiences you’ve seen. Seriously appreciate the videos!
You become needs of the army and most likely get sent to the 82nd
H Rico Thanks, man; I appreciate your kind words. It makes me feel better knowing that there are a variety of ways to make a difference.🙂
SEALS:If you ain’t cheating you ain’t trying
GB:You cheat... Fuck Off!
😂
Heed his words! In all my years, I have seen too many times where there was another way to get "there". It just takes perseverance. And, by the way, that's one thing that Spec Ops absolutely requires of their people.
Going through once was enough for me. TBU: Too Banged Up. 10thSFGA. De Oppresso Liber.
Even Michael Jordan wasn’t selected for his H.S basketball team! & he turned out just fine!
🤣 that’s awesome didn’t know that!
@@FNGACADEMY have a awesomely wonderful stress free productive weekend bro! 🙇🏽♂️
Hey Buck love the vids! I’m about to sign a true try one contract through 19th group in Utah. You should do a financial video and how much guard operators get paid! Any info is greatly appreciated bro keep up the great work!
Will do!
Love this channel. I'm going 18X after I graduate from college
Thank you buck but this just scared me a bit
What happened to the guy who snitched on one of your teammates (when you guys had all agreed that it wouldn't be reported because the guy owned up to the mistake) when the teammate had an accidental discharge during the paintball exercise? Hopefully, that guy wasn't selected either?
I think he explained it later on in the same video
Thank you for this.
Hey bro! Great content as always! I was wondering if you could do an ordered list and your experience of different phases during the Q. Also if there is any variance in when you attend each phase. I know in the past it was pretty structured, but now I have heard some candidates get something like SERE first.
I think you start right in MOS phase now which is strange
@@FNGACADEMY wow that would be crazy. I guess it's more time training integration of your skills into the other phases
Seriously check out Kevin guys. Great stuff. Thanks Buck!
Thanks bro
Amazing content sir!
thanks brother
Great video great guy💪🏻👊🏻
I’m just 14 and I’m already looking forward to become a green beret or a ranger
You're in a really good position then, I would've loved if I had interest in this career field at that age, and you're getting a jump start. Hope you know about the Ones Ready podcast, they've given great advice to people underage interested in becoming a special operator on what they could do that young to help them be ready
@@dalefitzgerald4369 thanks for the advice dude won’t let my dreams go to waste
I like this guy, straight up squared off. Would love to go waterfowl hunting with him, he has great situation awareness
What an odd thing to say. LMAO
Error. We had m14. Not m16.
I support “The Unquiet Professional”. You know who he was. 🇺🇸
How does SF look upon the "if you ain't cheatin', you ain't tryin'" ethos of another member of the SOF community?
Marines Special operations/recon 'Always wheat, Always win. The only unfair fight is the one YOU lose.'
Got the book a few days ago Buck.

Anyone else thought this was about netorare? I literally thought this was about gf's, fiancés, and wives cheating.
I recently went to SFAS and ended up VWing after the STAR Course, ended up getting ARSOF NTR, and I deeply regret making that decision. Learning from my mistakes, was wondering if I have a chance to get the opportunity to go back again to SFAS if I submit a waiver?
Vwing?

Shit, any dude can go through selection 3 times,I want that dude on my team.
Lmao the map guy story on cleared hot podcast was funny as fuck.
In fact I’d say the way that my life has/is worked out now has created more lucrative opportunities for personal wealth development and access to information that if I had been military would’ve been restricted and my actions pertaining to that information would’ve had a lot more oversight
.
Buck great advice in the video
Thank god for the thumbnail. Because my dumbass thought this was gonna be about NTR in a hentai context in Special Forces.
Quick question, would ever consider interviewing operators from other countries, like the UK or Canada?
Sure would
Great video as always ! Thank you 🙏
thank you!
40 mins ago this was dropped? Never been this early before
Hey would anyone be able to tell me the difference between 18A fitness and SOFLETE? Or why ones better...
New 11b here, sweet vids. RLTW.
What happens if you get injured and you can’t complete selection? Will that count as one of your tries? It would be bullshit if someone got an ntr because they kept getting hurt.
they may not count medical drops but ill find out
thought NTR can be overturned
I knew a guy he got labeled that Because during land nav he lost his rucksack he stole another’s guys rucksack but that guy was sleeping
damn... that is savage
I got an NTR for all ARSOF can someone tell me what to do? Because my dream is to be able to participate the special forces community.
What did you do?

Just like special forces a closed door shouldn’t stop you. Destroy that door one way or another
Does three tries and your out apply to every special operations training
can you make a video on SOPC?
will do!
I wonder if you ntr and then do a interservice transfer and try another branch... obviously not in sf...
Retaking the asvab today to hopefully go to selection
