- Well, the new Hamamatsucho Monorail Station is still a work in progress. Get to know it a little BEFORE you ride, esp trying to catch a flight. #tokyo #monorail #haneda

When I first went to Tokyo Japan. I flew into Haneda Airport and then I took the Monorail to Hamamatsucho station where I then had to walk about 10 to 15 minutes to my Hotel The Hotel Villa Fontaine Shiodome. I remember walking around that area and exploring. That area brings back great memories.
What you said about riding commuter trains with big suitcases during rush hour is so true. In my early, novice days of Japan travel about 15 years ago, I tried to take the monorail and train from Haneda to Osaki (before the bus terminal was built). Bad move!
Monorail was ok and transfer to Rinkai line at Tennozu Isle ok. I was running late and at about 18:00, almost every stop had a hoard of people getting on train. I tried to stay on the side of doors but handling 2 large suitcases was cumbersome. No one said anything but I sensed others weren’t happy. Super uncomfortable.
Never made that mistake traveling on commuter train with large suitcases again.
Takyubin to and from airport is the way to go far large suitcases. Small roll aboards ok on train.
I see other tourists doing it and cringe. Mahalo for mentioning that so others will know!
Thanks for the tip, John. I plan on landing in Haneda in spring of 2025. I'm used to using the train system but always good to hear some pointers from someone who's lives there. I try to have good situation awareness and try my best not to be rude. I plan on landing around 3. With customs I might be able to get out of Haneda after the rush hour. Hopefully.
Was just there in October . The monorail is how I get from Haneda to the Yamanote Line and on to Ikebukuro . I'm quite familiar with Hamamatsucho station :)
Happy New Year John! May OIJ be the best in 2024.
Wow, looking forward to seeing the completed construction. I arrive in Haneda toward the end of 2024. 🤙🏽
I’ll be so happy when it’s done and all pretty like they envision.
In Tokyo now. Because we are elderly, I paid for a shared limousine from Haneda to Ginza because I didn’t want to lug our bags on the rail line. Our first time to Japan.
Stayed there in 2019 and would frequently go into book store in World Trade Centre. Loved it so much. Sad to see it go ,but unfortunately you sometimes have to move with the flow. Hi From Down Under 🦘🦘🦘🦘🦘. Great Job John.
First time I was in Tokyo I went up the World Trade Center to get a good view of the city and Tokyo Tower. (As you said, this was a good place for that.)
I hope the new building will also have a dedicated floor open to the public.
Thank you John
Participated in the Yamathon in October and it was...interesting going through there. 😅
I was there yesterday early in the morning for a flight around 7:00am glad we rode before the peak hours
That's why this time I'll use the subway from Haneda to Asakusa, at my arrival, adn hen from RYougoku to Haneda at the end of my travel. Will check it out while riding the Yamanote Line
Last Wednesday I went through the station not for Monorail but going to Tokyo TV Tower, coming via JR line, I came through the that entrance going to Daimon. On return I just took the oedo line to Kuramae back to my hotel in Tawaramachi /Asakusa. I left Tokyo via Narita so I went via Ueon on Keisei express. For 2024/25 I may have to go to Haneda good to know
Back in 2015, I waited in Haneda for the JR office to open for my Japan Rail Pass, so I took the Monorail uintil 8:00 am, it was a light day (a rainy one) yet Hamamatsucho was jam-pack so I waited the end of the rush hour to take The yamanote LIne to Akihabarta and then The Chou-LIne to Inage. Now I move easily regardless of the train/subway line
Arriving at Haneda on December 15 at 5:30pm and then heading to Misato-chuo. Wondering how the construction will affect that trip since I was expecting to take the monorail.
I miss monorail and hamamashusu❤ i spent 15 days only in kameido...from pinay israeli❤
Well Lucky me,as it will be my station for February 😂, good to know what I might have to deal with 😊
4:55 cramping into a trains during rush hours, morning and evening 😂😂😂 lots of the traveler don't know about it 😂😅
I arrived at Haneda airport at 0645 and used Yamato Transport to send my luggage to the hotel (same day). So much easier!
Yeah it's been a mess for awhile I usually change Asakusa Line at Daimon to the Monrail. Devil Craft pizza and craft beer is nearby.
We need this in bali
I was right there two days ago!
Will they ever extend the monorail service to and from Tokyo Station?
In an earlier video where you discussed Tokyo train passes (specifically the unlimited kind) you mentioned combo passes and one of the ones you suggested not to get was the JR combo pass for metro because it was the most expensive and you couldn't recommend it for use because the metro/subway system was so good, as in we don't need the JR lines or we wouldn't be using them enough. But every single person says to stay near/on the yamanote line as it is one loop and the only line that gets you every where you would probably go on your first trip and you mentioned it in this video as well. So, what's the deal? yamanote line is a JR line so, doesn't it make sense to get that pass?
No John, bus is ok and taxi from Narita to Tokyo is not cheap oyaji😂😂
The future building looks like the past build they all look the same😢 I have I right to a better world
Thanks for another awesome video 😅 Would you mind my asking what type of camera do you use and the type of selfie stick you use when you film yourself? On my next trip to Japan I would like to make a few videos. Thanks in advance.
I don’t use a selfie stick. Those died out for video when 3-axis gimbals became cheaper than $99. Try the DJI Osmo Mobile SE or 6 or any that is 3-axis and can hold the weight these days :) it helps make it so smooth. Use the iPhone for streaming on this channel. Other channel is SONY and an array of cameras / brushes for what I paint.
@@onlyinjapanGO Thank you very much for your thorough explanation
In the US, walk on the right. Left is wrong
Just a question. You have any plans to visit Comiket 104 this August?
Shame the world trade building has gone. It was showing its age , but there was a nice bar at the top with a great view over the train tracks and the area. Could see the shinkansen going through. Bar was a bit pricey of course. NB Hamamatsucho is an excellent area of Tokyo with lots of bars and izakayas.
Just wait in the airport or adjust your timing to avoid those rush hours 😅😂😂😂
Will you get new monorail trains when the station is finished
wait is the Monorail to Haneda closed?! i gotta go pick my girl up tomorrow and was planning to take this route 😅
I am currently planning a trip to Japan. I land in Haneda and have to get to Edogawabashi Station. I will be with my wife and we will both have a suitcase and backpack. We land at 14h30 so by the time we get out of the airport we are getting close to rush hour crowds. Is a suicide mission doing this on the trains? or should I just bite the bullet and dish out megabucks for a taxi?
I'm an American walker and I walk in America 🇺🇸🚶🌇 kids need to stay in like
Hi John,
If we forgot an item on Tokyo Monorail, is there a way to contact lost and found dept? I checked the English page but doesn't seem like they have phone # or email. Thanks!
Is the shinbashi station finisht?
Is the baby monk statue still on the platform?
I wonder if airports in Japan have trains to go to Tokyo Metro. Just like San Francisco.
yes they have called limited express train the Narita express and skyliner
@monmonfiasco6391 thank you. That really helps. I'm planning to go there just for sometime in summer for comiket.
zamzam water
Was Tokyo n Osaka affected by the earthquake just now?
No, we’re fine. Other side probably not; we’ll see AM.
Have you been to Nagoro?
A few times
@@onlyinjapanGO Do you have a video available on it?
Slow walkers? Could it be that they are not so young anymore?
No, they’re just slow. Too many mega-sized suitcases. I’ll be honest with you, very old people take taxi or are driven to the airport. Older people can walk faster than younger people holding smartphones. Age is not an issue in Tokyo as often as you’d think. I like that you brought this up :)
@@onlyinjapanGO - It seems to be everywhere the same problem. People checking their smartphones while walking….. In the tramways and in the buses I see about 5/6 of the people staring on the screen…
It’s a worldwide problem. A lot of people bumping into each other too. A lot of wasted time as the walk speed dips so slow to let someone walk and use their smartphone. Tokyo is a mess with it, getting worse actually. Locals more than tourists.
The reason Japan is so peaceful is because of the limitations on foreigners entering the country for the purpose of establishing residence, even for the short term. Most of these programs eventually begin to allow permanent residency. Come to where I live. I will show you the effects. A Japanese delegation came to my office (Law enforcement) once, and they were very uncomfortable at what they observed partially related to foreign influence on our operations.
lmfao racist bs

What limitations are there?
⛄Happy December everyone 🎄
😊😊😊👑
Hi.. I'm an international student and will be arriving at Narita Airport. Could you or anyone tell me where to buy sim card for residence (not for tourist/ short term visit)? Thank you in advance!
