The fence and passing vehicles give it some scale. A domestic cat would not be so clearly defined at that distance, and would barely be visible above that grass, as a small blob of black fur!
Judging from the nearby fauna, it does appear to be the size and shape of a panther and from the gate, an injured one. Do they have private exotic zoos, allow exotic pets, or sadly, maybe an illegal hunting prey estate that it may have escaped from?
Basically back in the 1900s people brought exotic cats back to Britain as pets. When labour got in they made them illegal, so I'm guessing instead of killing the panthers they set them free in the wild and that's what's given birth to this breeding population.
Exotic pets are allowed, however you are required a license to own one and you’ll be checked up on every 3 months by a government official to ensure the animal didn’t escape containment and is well. It is very unlikely that it’s someone’s pet, because considering all of the above the law officials would have noticed some guy’s Panther missing. There is a possibility that these are descendants of animals that could have been released into the wild slightly before or in 1976 after the aforementioned law was implemented because the owners couldn’t be bothered to get a license. Private zoos do exist, the same law applies as above. Exotic hunting ranches for predatory animals are illegal. Black leopards are also extremely rare in captivity. This is clearly a leopard and not a Jaguar (black jaguars are more common), so it’s even more unlikely it escaped from somewhere. Plus the black color mutation in leopards is recessive, meaning we would see more yellow spotted ones rather than pitch dark ones. The amount of sightings of these animals is insane in England, it’s not 1 or 2, there’s many in different locations. A more likely possibility is that since circuses with animals were banned in 2019, the circuses might have released some of their animals into the wild. Part of the reason why there’s now a spike of sightings after decades of quiet.
Looks like it's carrying an injury, poor beast. I've seen one of these cats over 30 years ago where I live in the Highlands I could have touched it as it ran passed me my brother and an uncle, on a path returning from a fishing trip. No mistaking what it was
A kid was clawed by one many years ago. Seems he went too close to it, so it took a swipe at him and then ran off. He had the scratch marks on his face.
I'm from NW Scotland and have only glimpsed a similar sized animal, always believed they're in the area and thriving ever since catching that brief glimpse when I was walking home from school (had a 2 mile walk up single track road and woodland to my house after getting off the bus) it came running out from the left, slinked across the road and cleared a 4ft hedge before vanishing into the field, it was dusk so we only saw the silhouette. It freaked me right out I didn't walk home for months after that until summer arrived. No reason why these animals can't thrive up here, plenty of space away from people (most of the time) would be amazing to see these animals on the regular
I saw one once in aberdeen about 10 years ago I was walking dog down at the beach golf course and it was stalking me and my dog at a distance ofc jack Russell are known for being fearless anyways he caught it smell and was off like a bullet in it direction which made it run it was massive even at 300+ yards away but dark so played it off as a wild cat but it was black big and sleaked as it walked
Why can't anyone take a completely clear picture these days & zoom in, every siting wherever it is always blurry! So many online & not one of them is really visible as a big cat!
Kellas cat. Too big for housecat doesn't have the gait of a panther. Spoke with people who have said the largest ones they've had are nearly 5ft long. That would be a world record wildcat
Walking my usual lake District walk and heard growling coming from near by bushes couldnt see what the animal was but never heard anything like it before apart from at the zoo that loud deap wild cat growling sound. I just kept walking as i was petrified i had to walk past on route back but didnt hear it again.
What a dont get ,black leapord are extremely rare in native lands but in uk seem to be all black leapords ,read a good book years ago ,about the callis cat snd in breeding between domestic cats wild scotish cats etc,
Definitely injured, out of all the videos over the internet this one looks the most promising but I was more concerned on it’s injury, buy it certainly moved like a big cat !! but who’s knows natural distortion can deceive youn
Thanks for putting your camera down and losing sight of it.
0:05 don’t understand that 😅
That poor animal looks injured. It probably needs help.
its limping on the front left paw
Yes it does.
Wtf would injure a panther in the uk 😂
@@LJRAPSUK a bullet lol
@@LJRAPSUK cars 🤡
Wild big cat for sure with an injured left leg/paw . These beasts are being spotted all over the UK 🇬🇧 now .

The best footage I've seen so far looks like an injury foot leg ..
Big cats don't run like that. Must be hurt.
nahhhhh yaaaaa don'ttttt sayyyyyy
I hope it got the help it needed..this is heart breaking 😢
It’s injured watch it..

Like to know further details

Dude, its just a wildcat. If you need it to be fancy it might be a kellas, but its just a native animal here.
That absolutely is not a wildcat. Have you ever seen a wildcat? Completely different.

Looks injured.
Way too big to be a domestic cat and certainly not a dog
the best footage of there existence to us here in uk wales and scotland... no confirmed attacks from them so seem friendly enough to have around
A kid was clawed by one many years ago. Seems he went too close to it, so it took a swipe at him and then ran off. He had the scratch marks on his face.

At least he gets a cool scar he could talk about in the future.@@naturephotography8837
Panthers avoid humans, they don’t consider them prey.
Looks injured
I nominate this for an Oscar in the following categories, Best Cinematography & Best Sound Editing, sure-fire winner!
The most handicap people always get the best spots, because… which sane human would film there? 😅 so it is a wonder that d’oh could film anything 👍🏻

It’s a melanistic leopard are there are many all over the uk
Panther.
yeah cheers for the footage mate , really like how you zoom in to capture the rare animal so well!
We have them around our way, they are called black domestic cats.
Looks to me like a long-tailed black dog (or cat) with a sore front foot as it is obviously limping on it.
Yeah its a cat, its just not a housecat. 😂
dog..even stevie wonder can see its not a dog
looks like its got a hurt leg
😢
Poor baby looks like it's hurt..look how its limping 😢
Wild? Are black panthers native to Scotslands.
Poor thing looks injured 😢
Poor animal. It is most likely a cat or dog but it is suffering from a painful leg injury. I hope it got helped.
clearly someones injured pet
Never seen a pet cat that big 😂
THIS FOOTAGE IS FROM 2018
🤦🏻♀️
Dna last month provided proof of big cats in Britain
It was definitely a leopard panther rather than the Jaguar type
"Pink panther spotted" would be a headline
Stunning vertical video camera work, pure pro👍🏻
Best one iv seen,,, there is another one in Scotland were its walking on a railway line
Looks like a panther, but carrying an injury. Probably hit by a car sometime. Seems to be trying to hunt mice or voles in that long grass.
Someday help her or him😢😢
😢 its got a broken front leg.
I didn't know they had those in Scotland
They don't. Scottish have an overly developed imagination for inventing mythical creatures.
They certainly do have them!.
House cat + forced perspective 😂😂
It does look like a black panther. But it could also be a longhaired black dog (the long hair makes the tail look "catlike"")
Dog with a limp
Why can't anyone take a completely clear picture these days & zoom in, every siting wherever it is always blurry! So many online & not one of them is really visible as a big cat!
Saw one in Kirkintilloch Scotland 2 nights ago.
Kellas cat. Too big for housecat doesn't have the gait of a panther. Spoke with people who have said the largest ones they've had are nearly 5ft long. That would be a world record wildcat
Far too big for a cellas act. The awkward gait is obviously an injury
Far to small for that
3 legged dog
Not with a tail like that😂 you'd be better off watching it on a big screen like I am. There is no way on earth that's a dog.
You can travel just about anywhere in England unseen if you use the motorway embankments.
Likely not a panther so why say its a “panther?”
So injured bless man
It's a cat
Already been proved on google. Sorry guys to let you down..
Runs like an otter

Instead of calling animal resque, just stand and film...
Nice grass verge, tarmac..."The Goebbles".
Just a big domestic black cat…
He's just come over the Glen's, Angus and Nairn. January 2024
Whatever. Might as well be another Big Foot sighting or sighting of Loch Ness monster.
That’s a dog 😂
He’s looks injured- someone needs to find it ..
Get what you're saying, but they will probably end up killing it. Sad, but best to let natural take it's course, instead of us humans killing it.
Hound of the Baskervilles
It’s domestic cat for crying out loud
Definitely not house cat cuz if it was house cat the camera would have struggled to get the video
Ovo mi je pokazao jedan kolega Skot. Ima ih u cijeloj UK.
Guy in a suit for sure
It’s injured
It has to be somebody's pet.
offer it a bite
Black wild cat spotted in Scotland 🤦🏻
It looks hurt
It doesn't look healthy its got a limp
Not a panther but then in slow motion it kinda does but with a limp
No such thing as a panther lol. A black leopard would be much bigger also so whatever this is is more than likely some sort of cross breed .
Black house cat
Too small for a panther and sporting an injury to boot
Somebody’s hoose cat been juicing…
Looks hurt
Not wearing a hat.
Cute little black kitty.
It Must be desperate for help coming close to humans and out in the open like that
The cat is crook.
Haggis?... 🤔🐈⬛
Some type of u.k. feral beast
Fantastic. He/She is limping and may need a bit of a pedicure.
Its a xl bully😂
What a dont get ,black leapord are extremely rare in native lands but in uk seem to be all black leapords ,read a good book years ago ,about the callis cat snd in breeding between domestic cats wild scotish cats etc,
Definitely limping.
Editing
Nahh thats scooby dooby doo
Its a loch ness black sheep
Ahh not here!
Definitely injured, out of all the videos over the internet this one looks the most promising but I was more concerned on it’s injury, buy it certainly moved like a big cat !! but who’s knows natural distortion can deceive youn
Defo injured
could of been a bloody goat......
Another lock ness event ?😂
👿👿
Very lame
This guy is more dangerous with a camera than the cat looks
It’s a domestic cat 😂, if it was a panther it would be almost as tall as the fence posts.
Looks like a normal black cat to me, mabe a feral cat ... but injured to...
Scottish have a big history and imagination for making up stories about mythical animals.
There is no such thing as a black panther. Black jaguar or leopards have been reported. That is neither of those. Probable a house cat.
Black domestic cat
Looks injured what ever it is, limping or carry a leg from injury..!
It’s a lame cat
Looks injured
