After hair transplant in India, it is common for patients to be prescribed finasteride to maintain results and reduce further hair loss. While effective, finasteride can occasionally cause side effects. Here are 5 strategies to prevent side effects with finasteride:
Case Selection: Not everyone is suited for finasteride. A thorough medical history and hormone level assessment are critical before prescribing to reduce risk in vulnerable patients.
Customized Dosing: Adjusting the dose based on individual response, rather than prescribing a standard dose for all, helps minimize side effects like libido changes and mood fluctuations.
Switch On/Switch Off Protocol: For those sensitive to side effects, alternating finasteride use (e.g., taking it every other day) can help manage symptoms while maintaining efficacy.
Timing of Dose: Taking finasteride at night may coincide with the body’s natural peaks in hormone levels, reducing the likelihood of experiencing side effects during daytime activities.
Weekend Boost: Pausing the drug over the weekend may allow the body to "reset" and lower the accumulation of side effects over time.
Incorporating these strategies post-hair transplant ensures that finasteride works optimally, without compromising overall well-being.

Hello doctor. Is splitting 5mg finasteride pills an issue ? Also, can 1mg be splitted while maintaining efficacy? Or just poping 1mg pill everyday is the best if I don't see side effects?
This is really very nice video
Nice video and amazing 😊
as someone who cant tolerate finasteride due to getting depression and anxiety, what other options do i have other than minxidil to keep hold of my hair?
Sir is it possible to get gyno after taking only 3 doses of finasteride of 0.5 mg(M,W,F). Should i stop taking it immediately or take atleast one month btw i m 21 . Thanks for reply
Finasteride tablet kya Karta hai❤
Tropical ( with minoxidil) n oral finasteride is Ok ?
@@jitendrab2858 same question
Very informative video for me thanks for sharing
Doc i sometimes looses some thin short hairs from my transplanted regions. I got good results 14 months post op taking medications also. So should i worry if i loose some thin hairs
I really want to take oral finasteride 0.5mg or 1mg but I am quite over weight right now. I got my testosterone levels done a year ago and my results seem decent. I have tried topical for around 1.5weeks and I dont think I had any side effects.. should I lose weight whilst taking finasteride, or lose weight, then take finasteride?
Does lowering DHT help with skin aging? I have heard people speak about this quite a lot, but not sure how true this is. Whats your thoughts?
Not my expertise

Sir you are great , but also speak on other therapies , minoxidil, rcp, exosome, pdo threads
@@AhsanAli-bd1kj as far I watched his content he don't believe that much in other therapies for hair loss...
Sir is it worthless doing prp and it's advanced forms like GFC. Many people won't get good results with that many clinics charges huge amount for single sessions. What i've learned many people belives that finastrade will cause side effects so prp is a great alternative for finastrade but that's actually a misconception as baldness continue to progress due to dht even if we do prp or any other treatments without dht blockers the hair loss will progress. Prp will work but i can give only a minimal effect if the progression of baldness is very high then it can't help in such cases even if you get the results it will continue to loose because of the absence of dht blockers.
In short finastrade is the only medicine which can do anything to prevent balding or slowing down the progression but it's not a complete cure it will delay the process if you are going to bald completely at the age of 25 because of the intake of finastrade you may not be fully bald but progression is there.
Many people not understanding the fact and spending a lot for treatments like prp and some density boosters it may work very well for people with hair loss ( not androgenic alopecia )
This is what i know about this please forgive if this contains any wrong information which misleads people
I heard that topical dutasteride because of its weight, either doesn't get into the blood stream or goes less systemic than topical finasteride. Which, if any, is correct?
I know of one dude who got post finasteride syndrome from topical dutasteride
@@Yiahi65it depends on his mental health and his physical activities on a daily basis
@@tomshaji no it doesn’t bro 🤣Lol it depends on his genetic predisposition. Don’t talk about what you don’t know
@@Yiahi65 I'm talking about how finasteride affects his mind if he's not physically active. People who are working in IT field has higher chances to get side effects. Not just gentics
@@Yiahi65 and there is no such this as post finasteride syndrome from topical dutasteride application.topical applications cannot go systemic as far as I heard
Hello I’ve been taking finastride for almost two months now my hair has been shedding a lot both before and after treatment and my hair loss has still continued progressing rapidly and in the male pattern. I went to a dermatologist and he diagnosed me with androgenic alopecia, he mentioned nothing about any sort of telogen effluvium. Should I start dutastride since finastride doesn’t seem to be effective?
What has your dermatologist advised you to take?
Nice video
Is there any particular reason you advice to start finasteride therapy only after 21, when it has received FDA approval for those 18+?
I am 19 and have been prescribed Finasteride due to aggressive hair loss and therefore am concerned.
He mentioned in the video that you need sufficient DHT because you're still developing your secondary sex characteristics until the age of 21.
People take it after 17, but it's best to take it after 21
Companies will always seek to find ways to increase number of patients taking their medication. I feel with 20 years of clinical experience that below 21 if you expose your body to Finasteride your development gets affected. DHT is there for a reason. It is not a trash hormone.
What about topical finasteride? Studies show it is equally effective in reducing scalp DHT without affecting serum DHT much (depending on the dosage)
Studies are studies. Check who is doing the study and for whom and the motive behind the study. In my experience taking topical Finasteride will make you lose ground very fast and by the time you realise it, it would be too late - if you are young with aggressive baldness. In my experience those who report benefit with topical are those in whom baldness has stabilised and if they stop all treatment their condition will not deteriorate.
@@hairtransplantinindia I don't know man I am kind of on my own here relying on the internet since the doctor didn't want to look at any test results I had got. I had a diffuse spot on front-top with a lot of shedding, my DHT was already on the lower end of the range and TSH elevated since years despite working out 6 times/week, running upto 25-30km on occassions. But doctor straight away prescribed topical min and fin tablet saying that test reports are not needed, I should not have tests done. I don't want to risk going much lower than the minimum DHT range before having kids etc.
if you're taking finasteride 5 times a week and dutasteride 2 times a week. Do you stop them both at the SAME TIME for 2 weeks? Or should you stop one at a time? Thank you
You will need to stop both. But why are you taking so much medication. Read about Reflex Hyperandrogenicity. I have 2 videos on that.
@@hairtransplantinindia I live in South Korea and my dermatologist said twice dutasteride is fine with Finastride on the other days.
@@hairtransplantinindia what schedule would you recommend then?

Good Video Sir.
Sir any opinion on the use of Viagra before sexual activity only ?
As i am someone on Dutasteride Tablets Course and Libido Side effect is existing but the course is prescribed by my Dermatologist to be taken once a week.
Viagra is not a safe drug. Take Tab Tadalafil 5-10 mg instead. It is also longer lasting - called a weekend aphrodisiac. Take it on Friday afternoon and the effect will last till Monday morning.
