My great grandmother lived in that area. Her house along with one other was the only occupied house on a block of around 10. I look at this city and think of what it used to be 😟.
if trade schools were opened around some of these areas people would stand a chance. teach the people carpentry/electrical/plumbing. give then the skills to build back there neighborhood and skills they can teach their children

I lived in Detroit for 8 years. Most of the 80's. With the advent of google street view I went for a virtual cruise around my old neighborhoods. In some places entire blocks of houses are gone and many that remain are just abandoned or burned out remnants. My first house was just a burned out wreck for a few years, then it disappeared. My second house is still there but abandoned and the roof has fallen in.
I have been going around Detroit in google map and there are hundreds of beautiful and well maintained houses. I just saw some of them in ruins in the east side. From the videos in youtube it seem that all the houses are destroyed but it is not true

If you guys know Pomona, (a city about 30 miles east of LA) it has this exact problem. It used to be a very beautiful city. You can tell by the same Victorian style architecture in the destroyed houses. But now it is scary and ugly.
99% of this city is just plots of land with overgrown grass, houses that look like they've sat through two wars, and men standing around in parking lots and on the side of the street.

I was seeing some information and I knew that Detroit was once a thriving city in the 1950s. In the last decades it has lost industries, leaving today abandoned houses, a city "forgotten" by politicians etc ... Still I admire the legacy she has .. My great grandmother lived in that area. Her house along with one other was the only occupied house on a block of around 10. I look at this city and think of what it used to be 😟.

I lived in Detroit for 8 years. Most of the 80's. With the advent of google street view I went for a virtual cruise around my old neighborhoods. In some places entire blocks of houses are gone and many that remain are just abandoned or burned out remnants. My first house was just a burned out wreck for a few years, then it disappeared. My second house is still there but abandoned and the roof has fallen in.

I have been going around Detroit in google map and there are hundreds of beautiful and well maintained houses. I just saw some of them in ruins in the east side. From the videos in youtube it seem that all the houses are destroyed but it is not true
