The funny thing is what Ekko functionally did broke reality and froze time . Viktors rune was acceleration/evolution and Ekko backwards engineered it to be deceleration or regression so when the two collided everything broke, matter and anti-matter. Jayce couldn't have convinced Viktor with out his mind partially regressing to his prior evolved state thanks to Ekko but time would never had repaired itself with out Jayce being given enough time while time had functionally stopped. That's pretty incredible.

And in all other timelines, Jayce alone reaches him but only when its too late, when Ekko isn't there. Hence sad lonely Mage Viktor. Jayce is the voice of reason, Ekko is the dose of reality.
I hated Jayce's dumbass speech so much. Viktor was struggling and dying for years. Of course he wanted to cure that! Anyone would. It's doesn't have to be about beauty and imperfections.
