The drummer is something else
The Appleseed Cast are one of the best hidden gems in all of Post-Rock music. A discography catalog that is so deep and rich with blissful atmospheric, experimental instrumentation. Chris Crisci is a true musician in every sense of the word. Not only giving us double digit albums from ASC, but also 2 great acoustic albums from Old Canes, a mix of punk rock and folk. Thank you Chris for providing some major ear candy for over 2 decades!

Saw them a Che Cafe on UCSD campus in San Diego in 2000. I stil remember that show like it was yesterday. Time is terrifying. 22 years ago I saw them. People were born and died, pets were kept and died. Friends came and went. Storms destroyed and rebuilt. Time is terrifying.

Except explosions are boring. ASC is amazing
They are two different bands.. One is an instrumental the other is not. They are both amazing bands. As far as Explosions being famous and ASC not..Friday Night Lights perhaps🤔 They should both be bigger than they are but this music wasn't necessarily created for the masses. That being said. They are two completely different bands that are from the same era-ish with some similarities as far as guitar play but they aren't comparable in any other way? Not belittling or praising either one more than the other. I've always wanted to see Explosions. I've seen ASC 5x! They were a huge part of early 20s- late 20s. I still listen to both bands because both bands are amazing! If your gonna hate on something go after something popular. That's the real 💩 cake factory 🏭
Low Level Owl is one of the greatest albums of all time, I honestly dont know why the band doesn't get more love.
@@tornadotom2390 i'd also add that one is a straight up post rock band, and the other is an indie/alternative band with heavy post rock influences. I've love them both dearly, but I wouldn't say they are on equal footing here.
I've seen these guys 5 times in my life. Never once did it cost me more than $25. There were a few shows that were under $12. Amazing band and really good live. I feel nothing but nostalgia and love for these guys. I had a drink with the band after a set at El Corazon in Seattle many moons ago. They were very chill after the show. Great band big fan
They’re super chill people, I’m pretty sure this show was $10, and everyone who came were die hard fans of the band. They’re extremely underrated I would say

Been listening to them for decades and their last album, fleeting light is their best work from start to finish
17 years since I first heard it, and Steps and Numbers still gets me every time.
The Foundry is slowly turning into a emo club and I'm loving it.

Thank you so much man for recording and uploading this! I didn't get to see them live last year in Portland due to sickness.. Since they are one of my all-time fav bands I am still to this day devastated about missing them. Hopefully some day I will have another opportunity... Until then I am just grateful that this recording exists and that I stumbled upon it.

Thanks for this because not all of us can see these bands even when they come to town, I wake up too early to go to shows now a day's. Good quality stuff 👍, I'm looking for a new camera to record my son's and my music and rhis go pro seems to have good quality even in low light 👍.

Such an amazing band. Thank you for uploading this. Be sure to check out their guitar player's other band 'Muscle Worship' too. They opened up for Appleseed Cast when I saw them in Fargo this last year. I had never heard of Muscle Worship before then, but they are just as amazing! It was an incredible show!
They opened this show as well but this was before I got my larger SD card so I didn’t have the space to record both. Great band!
holy fuuuuck. muscle worship. wow. I saw them open for asc, maybe ten years ago, in austin, tx. never knew this guitarist was now in asc. maybe he even was, back then. I mostly remember Aaron, as an older fan, here. anyway, I bought a muscle worship cd because their set was so fucking good. I believe the other band that played was Coaster, out of chicago. I may be getting shows mixed up because I frequent so many, but as far as I remember it was all of them. muscle worship, coaster, then appleseed. this was at red 7, in atx.

I have some older asc footage on mini dv, if anyone is interested in seeing/hearing it. the issue is getting it onto the interwebs, haha. the sound is probably shite, but it's live and authentic through a terrible camera mic. yikes. finally met chris after abt 20 years of listening. he was kind enough to take a pic w me after abt my 8th time seeing then.

I love Appleseed.... I've seen them live several times. What is going on with the guitarist main stage? That is an insane setup. Is that part of his rig? Im baffled. I've seen Appleseed pull of crazy shows without that sort of equipment...Im just confused....
Sadly I think he butchers Steps And Numbers. Too much fucking gear and not enough attention to detail.
Nasty as always.. but... tempo is wayy to fast opening with “Last Words”. I noticed that at the show in Boston in September too versus the previous spring tour. Sounds so much better slower/at the album tempo. Incredible jam but chill bro!

I love Appleseed Cast, but I really miss Josh Cobra Baruth on drums or even Nathan. This drummer shows no passion whatsoever.
His drumming on Illumination Ritual is awful. He tried way too hard to try and emulate them and didn't deliver.

Evan Y You and I have pretty different definitions of ‘awful.’ They were a little lacking, yeah, but the drums on their new record are wonderfully written and performed.

Evan Y, The drummer’s are different from Illumination Ritual and TFLOI. Nathan Wilder was the drummer for IR, while Nick Fredrickson is the drummer for TFLOI. I personally think all ASC albums have great drum composition.
