I agree, you have to show it but in the case of an alarm, I think that I would show it. Shouting at the customer is a no-no though and might make me change my mind.
I actually thought the guy at the end was ok untill he walked away from you without properly making sure everyone was satisfied or even saying goodbye respectably
I do despair at the lack of intelligence of employees of major companies. The IQ level of some employees is very worrying and then putting these people in positions of fake authority is even more worrying.
The last time I was stopped, it was a random as no alarms went off. I was particularly annoyed because my bag was full of clearance/discounted food with no valuables, but I had to empty it to get to the receipt at the bottom, which the guard didn't even look at. So I was delayed by a minute to prove that I had not stolen £1 worth of stale bread and rotten veg. However in general, I don't like shoplifters and would want to comply if alarms went off. Possibly a sign at the store entrance saying customers may be required to show their receipt would be required to make it legal.
Because shops now believe that they can save a few quid on printing costs if they can get someone to refuse to take a receipt. Also, Lidl are storing up problems for themselves with their new eco-friendly 'blue' receipt thermal printed papers which cannot be read at all once they have been crushed in someones pocket for a few minutes. Meanwhile Dunelm and others are going the other way of pushing the use of electronic receipts sent immediately from the till to your email address with no paper receipt being offered. As well as being the inevitable invasion of privacy as Dunelm profile you, imagine this scenario happening outside their store?
You do not have to show a receipt. The shop has the option to do a Citizens Arrest for theft and detain you till the Police arrive and search you . If you are cleared , the shop then has to face the consequences in court. Its known as Kerchinnnng legislation.
I adore the Old Town in Tallinn, Estonia, and I visit there as often as possible during work trips. During one of my visits I went into the local RIMI grocery store for some snacks. I noticed a security guy following me. It was winter and I was wearing my favourite bomber jacket. I thought you cheeky bugger, so I started a game where I was following him trying to follow me. I would go down an aisle, notice him starting down the same aisle, then I would go round the bottom of the aisle and quickly head back up the adjacent aisle, turn back down into the aisle and go right behind him and pretend to be looking at things on the shelf. The look on his face each time was precious. I eventually bought my goods and found him waiting at the end of the cashier line. I calmly put my goods in my bag and went straight to him and smiled at him. Then I walked out. I discussed this with some local friends who told me my bomber jacket was the reason, because many Russians wear them and they do not trust such Russians. I stopped wearing it in any former Soviet State in Eastern Europe..
This is the very reason why there should never be this silly opt out of your receipt at the check out. This stop and show could happen all the time and then what do you do. You can't show a receipt that you opted out of.
Don't agree. The onus is on the company to prove you have not paid. Receipt or not. The security chap, should of checked first. Not jump in feet first just because an alarm went off.

Go easy on him. He only got off the boat in dover that morning
I must admit I have no problem giving them receipt if alarm gone off
However I would be affronted the way they ask in the USA just randomly ask I would object to that.
I agree, you have to show it but in the case of an alarm, I think that I would show it. Shouting at the customer is a no-no though and might make me change my mind.
I actually thought the guy at the end was ok untill he walked away from you without properly making sure everyone was satisfied or even saying goodbye respectably
Nice one mate 👍👍❤️
I do despair at the lack of intelligence of employees of major companies.
The IQ level of some employees is very worrying and then putting these people in positions of fake authority is even more worrying.
The total lack of proper training does not help either. 🇬🇧👍
Everybody look up Roberto Blanco
The last time I was stopped, it was a random as no alarms went off. I was particularly annoyed because my bag was full of clearance/discounted food with no valuables, but I had to empty it to get to the receipt at the bottom, which the guard didn't even look at. So I was delayed by a minute to prove that I had not stolen £1 worth of stale bread and rotten veg.
However in general, I don't like shoplifters and would want to comply if alarms went off. Possibly a sign at the store entrance saying customers may be required to show their receipt would be required to make it legal.
Why do these machines give you an option of having a receipt printed or not?
@@colinpryor4290 I had a thermal printer many years ago and I agree, as soon as you fold the paper the printout is ruined.
Well aye mate
We aye in deed. 🇬🇧👍
Is he a character off little Britain .
Shadow is the right word.

Looks like someone peeled him off a jar of Robertson's jam! 😅
What where they called golly or something??
"diversity"
This is the very reason why there should never be this silly opt out of your receipt at the check out. This stop and show could happen all the time and then what do you do. You can't show a receipt that you opted out of.
Don't agree. The onus is on the company to prove you have not paid. Receipt or not. The security chap, should of checked first. Not jump in feet first just because an alarm went off.
lol... i bought a game from pc world once for £44.99. Walked out of pc world with no problems at all. Went next door to marks and sparks, i think to look at some quilt covers and things. I did not buy anything, and the security alarm went off.... The manager of marks and sparks was so embarrassed bless her.... and she did the old, EXCUSE ME...EXCUSE ME!!.
Fecking hell. That security guard is shady as feck. Gawd daaaam SUWOOP SUWOOP
Been away for awhile and come back to you nicking cans of cider ;) standards have been slipping Bret xD
Bottles of Henry Weston Vintage.. which I paid for obviously. Funny thing is, I had to ask for the reciept in case the security gaurd kicked off.
@@julianchamberlain5399 I stand corrected xD I just carry on walking when alarms and stuff go off, sometimes quicken my pace but it's hard to do with a 32 inch plasma concealed under the jacket (not a real confession for the popo watching eager to pounce)
A funny thing happened to me some years ago.
I had bought a discontinued book from a Library. Then I had browsed around a Sports Direct shop.
When I walked out of that shop the alarm sounded and the half asleep staff suddenly woke up.
But what it was the Library book must have had the magnetic device in it that triggered the alarm?
Perhaps they should do away with self service tills that way you would have to pay a person so it would reduce these problems.
Also my work clock in tag sets these alarms off and ive proved it by walking through with it then without it so to say they don't go off falsely is untrue
Call me racist but I’m sorry I’m no longer accepting security guards that can’t speak the Queens English perfectly, my Kenyan wife can !
For Gods sake show Babatunde your receipt, he is waiting you silly English boy .Why you asking him that one, about his jumper. He is new on his security job .
Why do they employ security who can barely speak English…I see this a lot..if there’s a problem how is this guy supposed to diffuse a situation that might come up..
The most shocking part was that bloody Nosey-Parker customer getting involved.
What the hell did it have to do with him? Get a hobby pal!
The alarm bloody well does go off by mistake. It's happened to me tons of times and security just waves me on. I think that security guard is just inept.
must have had his training via the self service tills cos even the jobcentre lot have a basic understanding of what NOT to do as security officers....going solo is an art borne from experience, not gained from a feckin hi viz lol
You have no obligation to prove you have behaved lawfully - the onus is on the security guard to prove you have committed an offence.
Chasing someone across a car park a good time after alleged incident and shouting across a car park a bit unprofessional. Plus they have no powers unless alleged offence is clearly on camera and a clear offence has taken place. I personally would not be happy with being accosted across a car park in front of everyone.
which hotel is he staying at ?
all I can see is the teeth
Guard needs proper training in dealing with the public, manager tried to cover for the guards incompetence rather than accept responsibility
I thought the guard was a she lol unless he told you his prefered pronouns before recording 😂 and is the manager really the manager? No name tag could have been another customer being nosey
Security guard? Are they protecting the Crown jewels?
What if you selected no receipt. They have no right to shout at you. I would have just gone!
Top man, Westons vintage, I drink 5 bottles a day. 💪👍😁🤓
You have moved on to lifting alcohol from shops now?
Its the stress and flash backs brought on by the vicious unprovoked attack outside the imagration Hotel heis sadly a shadow of his former self. 🇬🇧👍
@@andrewdaley3081 He loitered outside an asylum seeker housing centre and baited the residents and staff. Then staged an attack which police rightly called out as false. Ho hum.
Select the item, conceal the item and pass the last point of payment, only them can you be accused. Coppers still need to called for a search… these people are bollocks 😉
Nextime you see that nosey customer will be in a police uniform. 🇬🇧👍
