Zeplas first ever apology video is going to be "I'm sorry for saying palette incorrectly"
oh my god.. i just googled it, this is like parry all over again
@@ZeplaHQ Wondering what circumstances in your life led you to learn motif but not palette LOL
Yeah. Well to look at a positive, she said motif well and used that word much more in this video. FF localizers just love putting words in that most people have only ever seen written down.
With that accent she hardly says anything correctly. Just roll with it girl.
@@ZeplaHQdon’t worry too hard about it, the video was well made and clearly showed the job, thank you! ^_^
For what it's worth, every second you spend painting is another second of damage that gets to go into your other abilities to make them bigger. As titania taught us, bigger is better.
The primary/secondary colors lining up with the 6 elements in FFXIV is pretty clever.
The fact that they also line up with color theory is cool to me. They could have just gone with the more commonly known red blue yellow that makes green orange and purple that you learn in high school but they went with two primaries one that is adding light to a black canvas like on a computer or television and subtractive taking away the white of a canvas with color, these two primaries can mix together to make each other, though they could later add a stronger spell “key” to subtractive pallet to make an ultimate black since cym doesn’t really make a true black.
also the red green blue colour pallet is about mixing light like in your tv and your computer, adding light too a dark canvas and cyan magenta and yellow is about filling a white page with colour and in a way subtracting from the white. normally cym comes with "key" to get a true black so that could be another kill they could add to get a stronger black.
They did have to break it slightly. Since there are 3 elements associated with Astral and 3 with Umbral but that doesn't match up fully with RBG and CMY since each has 2 of one and 1 of the other. It matching colors is better overall but it's slightly less satisfying as someone who really enjoyed Eureka.
Picto is basically if a raid boss became a player job.
I love it!
I've found the BEST way to learn a brand new job is to take it through PotD starting at level 1-50, then moving on to HoH later. You get your skills 1 by 1 as you level up. You read one tooltip at a time, learn what it does and how to use it. Then you get the next skill, read the tooltip, learn what it does, then learn to fit it into your 'rotation' and slowly by floor 50 the job starts to come together in your brain. No text dumps of trying to figure out 30 skills at once and how they play together, it just shows you. You learn any new job JUST the same way you would be learning a level 1 class at the start of the game. But a lot faster. I find it gives you a better fundamental understanding of the building blocks of the job.
Doing it this way(for me) has the added benefit of your lower level skills being far more accessible so content is less confusing when you scale down for roulettes and the like. You've already played the job from level 1 so you know exactly how it will scale down, and already know what will and won't be available to you and are still able to play the job fluidly with no 'scale shock' of suddenly losing everything and having no idea what's actually left or where it is.
Brilliant and def how I will be trying out picto! :)
This is so clever! I've in the past picked dungeons like Sastasha, Qarn, AV, etc. to do the same thing but it takes longer and it's not as gradual. Kicking myself for not even considering deep dungeons. Thank you! Definitely doing this when I get around to PCT/VPR.
Deep dungeons are the worst for learning new jobs, since you don't stay in combat long enough to learn a real rotation. Just do low level dungeons and work your way up.
@@kzorander8577 You fight a boss every 10 floors, each time with new skills to add...
You're meant to go in solo to do this, not with a group, the only reason you should be exiting combat on the individual floors is if you're going too slow.
If you go in a normal dungeon your choices are:
*Synced down with other people* - where you may be too rushed to read properly
*Unsynced on your own* - where everything dies too fast and you STILL don't have time for a full rotation.
*Synced on your own* - Uhh, yeah, no thank you.
@@shigeminotoge4514I just recently did POTD 1-100 solo as a WAR (so, low damage), with hardly any aetherpool to start out with, and everything was dying in a couple of hits. Way too much time out of combat for learning, imo. But I guess everyone is different.
I've watched a lot of pictomancer videos, and yours is actually the one that "painted" the best picture of it 😂
The only one that made me understand more or less what comes after what
i'm so glad to hear this!!
not particularyl for me Mr happy explained it much more clearer to me and even gave a example of a rotation
@churros724 ye but Mr Happy is cringe. He takes 20 mins to explain the most basic of concepts, and then there's his general reputation of being a shitter on top
If it helps, madeen is a moggle summon eiko gets in ff9. So having all 4 parts combined makes sense in that way. Make normal moggle with 2, then make a big bitey clawed moggle with 4.
This is the way
I like classes that aren't just on rails "do things exactly in this order every minute/2 minutes". I'm a fan of what I've seen of it so far - I feel like SMN is there for those that want something easier and flashy.
I feel like this is what summoner could have been with the mpg and maddeen summoning and all the different things that could make you gather Aether for the big summons . Would be nicer.
12:20 Quazii made an excellent video that includes a potential opener/2 min rotation that I think is going to be very close to what will be typical on release. He does manage to get the three hammer strikes into the burst phase along with all of the meaty spells and abilities, so I think it's good to check out, even if it gets slightly changed upon release
If ppl can't be bothered to check his vid on the burst phase, it essentially goes: **Parenthesis denotes ogcds
raidbuff--Star(subtractive)--Comet combo 1-4(mog muse), rainbow(mog/madeen blast), Hammer 1-3
In a 20 second window you usually can only get 8 gcds in, but he's squeezing 9 in because of the instant cast hammers at the end. Hope that helps :D Great vid as always, Zepla
I enjoy taking new jobs into Palace of the Dead and get the feel for it starting at level 1. This has always been helpful for me to learn a new job's rotations gradually
Good idea! I’ll have to try.
I do this every time
Woop! Was waiting for your picto vid! :D So hyped!
I've never heard someone pronounce "pal-ette" as "puh-lette before. Must be a regional thing 😅
Likewise. I've never seen someone abbreviate _"be a"_ as *"beca"* before. Must be regional thing...
lol No, I think that’s just Zep being Zep lol. She pronounced “buh-tone” (button) a few times like that too.
Nah. I'm pretty sure it's just a knowing the word only from reading it thing.
Putting the empPHAsis on the wrong sylLAble.
Often times when people mispronounce words it’s because they learned it by reading. This is an amazing thing :-)
I can’t wait for Pictomancer! I loved Okami and the Artist in Lost Ark. It seems complex/strategic enough so I won’t get bored but not overwhelmed either. I love classes that make me feel like I have options and answers for any situation.
This breakdown was the easiest for me to understand, thank you.
Omg… I deeply appreciate you took the time to do your hot bar and skill in the mmo mouse style… I understand it so much better than everyone else’s blah of a hot bar and can start piecing together what it looks like
Love your videos and can't wait to try this job! Just as a side note though, it's pronounced pal-et (emphasis on "pal") - *pal* (as in friend) and *et* as in (get) or like saying the word palace except replace "ace" with "et".
After I've watched so many people explaining Pictomancer, your explanations were the ones where I actually got it :D
Thank you for the recap Zep ! ♥
Thank you so much for explaining this! Really made me understand the class a little more and I can't wait to try it!
Thanks for scouting ahead for us!
Honestly, your explanation helped me a LOT! It seemed so daunting before to the point where I questioned if I wanted to pick up the job, but now I’m definitely giving it a shot when the expansion launches. Thank you!
The thing I'm so bad at with Reaper is remembering to use Soul Sow in between packs in a dungeon. Glad I'll be able to fail at that as Pictomancer too.
I mean I am too with Reaper but I think that's because such a forgettable part of the Reaper kit, it has no relationship or interaction with the rest of the kit , it's just there , a single solitary button you can press for free extra damage.
But I suspect that pictomancer would be an entirely different story given it's motifs are two thirds of the entire kit , not a single button standing in the corner of the hotbar , after practice I suspect most will get into the habit of pre-drawing motifs between packs
I guess it takes someone who was confused to explain the job to a fellow confused person because this is the only video so far I've been able to easily follow lol
this sounds like it will be right up my alley, can't wait to learn this chaotically colourful job! :D
Now i am even more hyped about picto. And your video helps to understand it more. Thank you Zep!
I've watched several videos about how Pictomancer works, but this is the first time I feel like I actually understand anything. Thank you!
Pictomancer seems so cool and interesting, can’t wait to play it!
I actually love that you're not the kind of person who isnt as "pro" about how classes/attacks are optimized. (no shade to Mr. Happy) but when he talks about this ability does this and that so you're going to want to do it at the 5.32 second mark and then weave this with that and stick your wand up your bum... My brain just turns off. So hearing you talk about it is much more relaxing.
Picto looks awesome, great showcase as always Zep
Excited to try and fill my smooth brain with colors
I think we may use swift cast on the rainbow before downtime to get one last big potency attack out since the recast won't matter.
The expectation setting is appreciated.
Madeen is from ff9. I think one of if not the only ff game its in. You also dont see it im pretty sure.
The moogle with eiko gives his life to give her the madeen summon and moogles ribbon i think.
Its her most powerful damage wise and does holy damage.
One of the earliest I’ve ever been to a vid lol
shift to "dark" aetherhue to use CMYK printer ink
Can't wait to play painter!
I think my eyes 👀 are trying to do something watching Zepla in this video while my mind is playing tricks on me at the same time trying to focus my eyes.
Definitely going to need to get a feel for the cooldowns of the abilities. But I like that non-standard rotation feel, like older blackmage. That said I love the newer streamlined blackmage very much as well.
I imagine the optimization will be in learning when to paint during boss phase changes, but otherwise there will be a "default" rotation. Kinda like how optimizing with Summoner right now is just about knowing when in the fight the boss will stand still (for garuda phase) and when you can stand still (for ifirit phase). For painter, it'll be about knowing when the boss is untargatable (for painting), and knowing when you'll have to move (for the insta-cast hammer).
im here for the puh lette
I can't wait to mess around with this job when I level it up, because I will be leveling it along with Viper before I properly start msq.
So what if you use the claw motif before using the moogle? Did you miss a spell?
So excited for picto!!!!
was keen on the Viper but now is hyped for Picto
9:00 you're painting a Drop Bear Moogle!
Looks pretty cool, unsure if I'll play it on my main - but keen to try it on one of my alts!
Why on an alt? Is it armoury space issue? Once it’s leveled you can share the gear with your same level casting gear so I guess I’m just confused why you wouldn’t try it on your main. Genuine curiosity not trying to toll or grief
I personally love having skills to use in between packs in dungeons. Having motifs to draw during downtime bumps this job from 8/10 to 10/10 for me. I'm really looking forward to playing this.
I WILL stand there and paint a masterpiece in the middle of combat. Try and stop me X_X
The visual effects or not for me, but I'm happy for anyone who does like it! Seems like it'll be fun to learn and master! :D
Madeen is an Eidolon from FF9. She is Eiko's final Summon ability. Appropriately enough, she initially took the form of a timid Moogle companion of Eiko's, named Mog.
I'm guessing these Motifs will be similar to how Demi-Bahamut and Phoenix worked for Summoner; like how Phoenix replaced every other Demi-Bahamut and was more powerful, I'm guessing that initially only Pom and Wing motifs are available at lower levels, and at level 96 every other Pom and Wing motif is replaced with Claw and Maw motifs.
this is the first pictomancer video I can understand, it's working for my adhd brain 💯
So, if I understand this correctly (and I most certainly do not) if you don't prepare there is a huge risk that you will only do damage to bosses cause, by the time you've painted your motifs, the trash will be dead from the viper in the group?
This is like watching a lecture on astrophysics... I have no idea what's going at all, but it looks fun and interesting.
phew, it sounds complicated, so I will definitely be re-watching this video again and again, as well as spending a lot of time on my FC's striking dummy
If anyone wants to know more about Madeen, they are from Final Fantasy IX :)
I can picture me playing this job!
i dont feel bad about the motif cast time cause dancers dance mini game is a thing
excellent explanation 10/10
Being a RDM main i was more curious about this than the viper and this look just so fucking cool i think im sold.
I believe motif painting will be exclusive for downtime phases and out of combat. Some people can argue that you can swiftcast it to make it a little quicker but the rainbow spell is a way better option to use swiftcast on. It is a 900 pot 4 sec cast spell so I presume you will swiftcast that every time.
The recast time of Rainbow Drip is nearly 6sec, making swifting it a DPS loss unless the boss is about to jump away.
I wonder if they would increase the size of the Starry zone... the only way for everyone to benefit is to drop right under the bosses, and most ranged have aversion of staying near the boss...
What's wrong with the brightness/exposure? It feels like a game with the bloom settings on max, especially on her skin. It feels like she has floodlights or something focused on her.
I think the old setup was better, it's been a long time since I watched Zepla, glad to be back.
It’s a very strong beauty/blur filter that is very distracting. You can see it warping weirdly near her chin where the mic is. 😕
whoa whoa whoa wait .. why does her face look like its got some low level AI/photoshop editing over it ?
As you play ff14 you start becoming more and more anime over time.
It's probably largely makeup, but it looks like there might be a basic "beauty filter" that was applied to the video. Such filters are pretty commonplace on social media.
(Whoa-oh-oh-oh) Painted Love
Well now I'll never get that out of my head.
Lmao
Yeah, when it comes to figuring new jobs out... I don't try any job until I have the WeskAlber video on it up on my second monitor. :)
Yes, way more confused... but that's normal. I need to go play with a thing for a while before any class explanation starts making sense. Hands on learning and all that.
Basically it's like Machinist/Dancer/Old school Astro. That's interesting.
I kept hearing you say Palette that way and I went “Wait, when did they start involving chickens?”
Can you compare painting to the dancing of steps of DNC before you hit the final step to finish?
If so, i would say people that know DNC can relate to that in a way.
This job makes ninja looks like summoner
I guess I need to do it myself. Sounds so confusing like first time learning Samuria
I started to question whether I was the one saying palette wrong all these years for a moment hahaha
good button make hammer smash, got it
9:30 For context, Madeen is a summon from FF9. Makes sense considering so much of Dawntrail is FF9 themed.
And one more thing why it makes even more sense, is that Eiko's Moogle evolves into Madeen!
Would be funny if there was a really low chance for the Moogle spell not to work until you've done a daily quest.
I want to make a deadpool dressed as bob ross glamour for picto.
Your pronunciation of palette reminds me of Will Terrell's Lovah character saying hot tub.
Seems like you paint pictures on your down time (before/after every fight) which is kinda appropriate considering the job.
i completely agree, i heard some ppl criticizing the "downtime" but thats kind of what painting is so it makes sense to me too! and you get richly rewarded for it bc your motif spells are awesome
I love the award winning actress Toni Pa-let. "DON'T YOU SWEAR AT ME YOU LITTLE SHIT I AM YOUR PICTO!"
It look cool, that said... I see many 20+ minute dungeon runs in our future... lol
We all know the most important part of pictomancer is the Bob Ross glam.
Name your female pictomancer Lisa Frank 😅
Oh boy. Time for flowcharts.
I feel the same way about picto I was scared too lmao I’m hoping it’ll click in my brain 😭
12:51 It's the same potency as assize, but healers scale their healing up from mind therefore it's always going to be weaker than assize in actuality.
5:17 excuse me, what is the name of that skill?
Zepla, why does it look like you got a bloom filter on? Even in the viper video it was the same
But most importantly, great intro to the new classes, thanks!
It's probably a good thing that one of them is super easy and the other a bit of a challenge. Otherwise you would have people say they are too easy or too hard. Well, they are both and neither. Edit** I have never in my life heard another person say PUHlETTE instead of palette. Must be an American thing.
I'm from the American Midwest and I have also never heard it, but I know what she means so I don't think it really matters. I assumed it was something she picked up around Europeans. US is big, though, so who knows.
I'm scared of it now.. all I know is that it's hammer time.
The fact that the 3 stack buff is really called "Hammer time" is fantastic
embrace hammer
you can now twin with warrior
Honestly it looks alot of fun, but I still want to main viper but now idk between the two
I'm just here to give you a like for how you say palette
All I need to know is "the moogle was ready, the moogle blasted, the moogle is gone after the blast". I think I'm ready for Pictomancer now.
Damn, this is a vicious moogle :D
Pictomancer is pretty much what we should have gotten with BLU as a real job.
Wait there was a preview event in Las Vegas?!
Invite only media tour. Locations if I recall were Japan, Germany, and Las Vegas USA.
Complicated yes, but it looks so fun🎉❤
[waits on Wesk Alber to put up the Picto and Viper levelling guides on his YT channel]
I had absolutely no interest in Pictomancer when it was announced, but now that I know a bit more it actually seems dope! I really like how it sounds kind of complicated but rewarding.
13:03 pross botton
receive portrait of bacon 🥓
I love palettemancer
it seems like summoner with extra steps
Yeah my favorite FF6 job
