Hi Josh! Mignon here reffers to a character by Goethe. It is actually a tragic young girl that in the end is found out to be a product of incest. Schumann's "Requiem für Mignon" is also due to the character's tragedy. So, perhaps Mignon here is her nickname for her being young and petit (I haven't read the story actually), and not because of the piece's size. Love your vids!
I can see what a wonderful pianist and teacher you are... I always loved the piano but have poor patience andget frustrated to easily....and am a complete failure at it.....and can't even remember a single thing I learned.........but love to listen to musicians like you
In bar 21 (bar that starts with Eb/G). There is a slur in middle voice from Bb to F: (Indicating the presence of F7? Which leads to Bb(4-3) resolution in the next bar) Should one voice out the middle voices Bb, A, F? Especially the F? Bar 21 is also around 3:57 in this video.
Thank you for this tutorial. I have to admit that I am a bit confused - you classified this piece as “Middle Beginner” but it is RCM Level 7 (Late Intermediate/Early Advanced).
I would expect those right hand notes with a tail down (as in, for example, the fourth beat of the first bar) to sound for the whole crotchet, but notice that people don’t play it that way. Is that appropriate?
Zart: In our beautiful German, believe it or not, the Z is always the ts sound as in pizza! When you hear the sound like an English Z, that is a single letter S before a vowel, for instance, in the word sagen = to say, sehr=very
Thank you Josh for the discovery of this piece! I couldn't resist learning it, at my beginner's level, and it's a delight.
