  • Today I had an unexpected guest - Katie Crewe who I originally thought was coming to hang out with my wife Felicia from the Base Body Babes, but I found out that she actually wanted to do a bench press session with me. So I thought that it would be a good opportunity for me to pimp her lift and capture the session on video so you can see how I teach someone who isn’t a competitive athlete, how to bench press with my technique.
Katie is a fitness and nutrition coach from Canada with a huge online presence. Go and check her out on Instagram @katiecrewe 💪🏼

Thanks for the content, your advice in a previous video concerning mobility/warming up for the bench pulverized my plateau!

Appreciate the content Bas. Maybe invest in a microphone you can attach to the collar of your shirt. The audio is a bit muffled at times and hard to hear what you say

They've used them in a few videos, this video looked spontaneous so they probably didn't get time to hook them up

King of bench! I get weird looks when benching with your technique I hear so many comments bad for your back cheating etc lol

Those same guys probably think 225 is a big weight and are probably gonna have severe shoulder issues with 30 because they aren't repressing their shoulders at all... they probably also think that a bit of rounding in the upper back in DLs is bad for your back and getting below parallel in the squat is bad for your knees

Your videos are bomb, as always! Please make a video series about warmups, PLEASE! I believe in what you are saying and teaching and it would be awesome to hear from one of the best strength coaches in the world how to prepare the body properly before diving under a bar, regarding squat, bench press and deadlifts. Whats your routine? What do you recommend? Mobility, stretching, acitvation exercises etc. etc. THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR SHARING SO MUCH VALUBALE CONTENT!!! Please keep going

Awesome vid! I think some lav mics could help out with more consistent audio?

I love it when you tell someone what to do and they do it. It's frustrating when teaching someone, when you tell them and/or show them what to do and they still don't do it.
I bench the day after squats and so my lower body is always especially tight, so I like to do some casual BW bend overs/squats to warm my legs and back up a bit before benching.

I know this technique, done it. (National and nordic champion) Can not lift in any other way, my body is built of this for 18 years.
What do you think of the new technique like Maddox? As a formula 1 trainer it would be of help if you explained. Keeping elbows in, using teres major and lats.

it's all about getting into the strongest position and yes a decline position is generally stronger
