The AR-15: Americans' Best Defense Against Terror and Crime

  • After the attack at Pulse night club in Orlando, Hillary Clinton looked past the obvious enemy - radical Islamic terror - and instead said "weapons of war have no place on our streets" and that we need to ban AR-15s immediately. AR-15s are fine for Hillary and her family. They've been protected by armed guards who use them for three decades. But average Americans who watch the news and feel genuine fear for their safety, and their families’ safety-Hillary wants to deny them the level of protection she insists upon herself.

      it's already illegal to commit murder, what makes you think more gun laws are gonna make bad guys, of any color think twice..the only people that will be effected, will be the good guys who follow the law, the criminals will do what ever they need to commit these crimes. you see how it worked in "gun free" San Bernardino and France...oh wait, litterally every "mass shooting" you can think of was done in gun free zones, because Good people follow the law, and criminals a.k.a. bad people don't.

    • @ironmike4843
      @ironmike4843 8 лет назад +8

      Still is.
      The Brown Bess was a monster gun that fired a 69 caliber lead ball.
      That's over three times as large as an AR-15 bullet.
      The lead ball it fired weighed 545 grains compared to the AR's 55 grains, ten times the weight of an AR-15 bullet.
      British soldiers were expected to be able to fire it three times to four times a minute in massed volleys of over thirty men in a line or about 90 to 120 rounds per minute at Continental soldiers.
      To beat the Brown Bess, Continental soldiers used rifled weapons that were more accurate from further away, since the Brown Bess was a smooth bore Musket and not a rifle. They could engage British forces from beyond (150 yards) the effective range of the Brown Bess(50 yards)

    • @ironmike4843
      @ironmike4843 8 лет назад +6

      I have actually fired a Brown Bess and used to build black powder rifles and pistols as a hobby.
      They can be every bit as dangerous as an AR-15 and even more so if double loaded with twice as much powder, they would blow up in your face.
      Honestly I thought that you would be interested since you brought up muskets.
      Sorry the facts ruined your post.

      They also had higher capacity weapons like the Belton flintlock and the Puckle gun. They also had cannons ranging from 4.4 inches to 13 inches in caliber. A 0.223 inch caliber doesn't sound so big compared to 13 inch caliber cannon ball. If they successfully ban ownership of the rifles that kill significantly less people than handguns, what's to stop them from banning handgun ownership?

Have you been able to see how the AR - 15 works more than once? Were the attackers muslim extremists or just ordinary criminals? Do they use different types of weapons and tactics? Thanks for the help.

    The average response time to a 911 call is 9.3 minutes. Do you have any idea how much damage a criminal or terrorist can do in 9 minutes? San Bernadino took less than that, including the time it took to get away. Ft Hood took less than 8 minutes. If one or more citizens in those attacks had been armed it's possible they could have stopped the killing with far fewer casualties.

    • @trimntim

    I really wish this gun debate would end.
    I do not think you "need" a black rifle to defend yourself in the everyday world.
    But I do not condone, in any way, ANY means of restrictions on firearms. I only wish everyone would see what a shotgun, black rifle, or ANY projectile-firing weapon as what it is: An inanimate object, that should never be restricted, or outlawed in any fashion. People can make their own decisions on "what they need". Not big brother.

    • @TheApana
      @TheApana 8 лет назад +7

      He could've used bombs and they'd still find a reason to target the AR-15. AR-15 is the symbol of freedom right now, which is why they're after it.

    • @dmccue6996

      The Sig MCX, or Modular Carbine Platform, is a proprietary Sig design and does not have an interchangeable gas system with the AR-15. There is also a proprietary recoil spring system. It may use the AR as inspiration but that does not make them "practically the same".

Assault rifles are already banned "Well we need to ban AR-15 rifles like the Orlando shooter used!" the shooter didn't use a AR-15, he used a SIG Saucer MCX Carbine "We need to do more background checks!" He actually worked for the Government and was contracted under Homeland security.

    You see, I'm only 17 & can go on about the history & facts of the AR-15 platform. It's a great tool. You can chamber it in multiple different calibers, change barrel lengths, & mount any sight you want on it. Who wouldn't want or need that versatility? I want it, my parents want it. It's one of the most versatile tools in existence. Furthermore, only humans & animals are capable of harm, but humans know when they cause harm. No inanimate objects are capable of harm or knowing it, only humans. Also, Dom, you killed this video.

    Whenever someone says "you don't need an AR-15 to hunt deer", as well as reminding them that the 2nd Amendment is not about hunting, I also ask them why they think that in most of the country, it is against the law to hunt deer with an AR-15. Invariably, their answer is that it is "overkill" and "way too powerful" for deer hunting. Then I explain the *real* reason why -- that it is grossly UNDERpowered for hunting deer, and that a hunter's deer rifle is *significantly* more powerful than a .223 AR-15.

When It came time for home defense weapon, there was only choice hands down. The AR-15... I hope I never have to use it in a Home Defense situation. When I pick up my rifle, it's like an extension of my arm. It feels right. Isn't better to know that you have it, than have something happen and not have it.

You can tell who knows what they're talking about, and who is completely ignorant on the subject of firearms. Having former and current military personnel speaking out in support of public right to own and use the AR-15 (as well as the AR-10) rifle, and support of the Second Amendment, is the best way to counter the anti-gun messages.

    Why does it seem like terrorism is the MOST dangerous thing, to this guy? Between 2001 and 2013, there were many more deaths from firearms on US soil (406,496) than deaths from terrorism (3,380). Or are these statistics wrong? Help me understand, here. Doesn't it make sense to pay more attention to the thing that causes more deaths? Or does it not? The Center for Disease Control and Prevention says that "You are 35,079 times more likely to die from heart disease than from a terrorist attack...You are 33,842 times more likely to die from cancer than from a terrorist attack." Are these statistics, or their methodology, wrong? Is the logic I am using flawed? If so, how? I am genuinely trying to understand.

    • @rebelinfant
      @rebelinfant 8 лет назад

      I watched and listened very carefully. At 0:45, he says that liberal politicians have an "utter contempt for ordinary americans trying to survive in an age of terror you still won't fully recognize." He then goes on to promote the AR 15 as the best weapon to defend against "realistic threats" of terrorism. Thus, we can infer that, for him, terrorism is, or should be, at the top of the list of ordinary American's priorities. So far, so good? If this is, indeed, what he thinks, do the facts support this? Should we care more about terrorism than fire-arm deaths when it is non-terror-related firearm deaths that account for more than terrorism-related deaths by 120%?

    • @rebelinfant
      @rebelinfant 8 лет назад

      Terrorism and fear of terrorism is real. Yet, because of messages like this, the perception of terrorist threats may be disproportionately increased in relation to other real threats that, in reality, far outnumber terrorist threats. To me, he is an excellent salesman for his job of training people to use this gun. That is what salesmen do: generate a demand for a particular product by invoking a perception of disproportionate fear towards one issue over others that would increase sales of the particular product.

      You've completely missed the point of what he's really saying, and it doesn't sound like you are even capable of understanding it anyway..The FOUNDING FATHERS of the country knew that in Order for people to STAY FREE in the nation that they were building, The Public had to have uninfringed access to the same kind of weaponry that the "Bad Guys" would/will have...By Bad guys you are assuming (to fit your moronic narative) that he's talking about "terrorists"...The real people who the founding fathers had in mind were TYRANTS, and they knew that at some point, these kinds of Tyrants they feared could possibly infiltrate this government, and people would need to be able to fight back...And them BEING ARMED and able to fight and defend themselves against TYRANNY, was the best thing possible to stay free...Not only does the fact that we armed give Tyrants pause before they try to take over, but it is a tremendous problem for them in dozens of other ways...This is a concept that I dont think you're capable of grasping..In regards your "statistics", A) I believe they are completely false...And B) When you take your number and subtract out all of the deaths related to HANDGUNS, and that have been directly attributed to the AR-15 or other kind of Assault rifle, that number goes down to practically nill...Not even to mention, if you want to start talking about addressing things that kill people? There were over 500k Automobile related deaths in the same time frame you are quoting...Should we ban cars? Smoking kills 400,000 per year; why arent we banning that? You don't care about the real numbers or facts, or about anything that's 10 times more dangerous than an AR-15 in our society...All you care about is "banning" guns you're scared of...Thats because your a gun grabbing little media brainwashed "parrot",,And your a disgrace to this country, and honestly people like you ultimately if you get your little cry baby ways, will be the assholes who lead directly to the demise of any freedom we have left in this nation one day...I for one am not OK with that, if you hate the constitution and dont understand it's purpose and the necessity for people to have these kinds of firearms, then that's all and well...But YOU and assholes like you are not going to tell me and 80 million other Americans that we need to lose our rights, and the capability of defending ourselves if the need arises...You can go fuck yourself, and take your little opinion and stick it up your ass..

    We NEED to help the NRA by sharing their videos through all of our social media personal accounts. The disadvantage about these videos being uploaded to RUclips only is that only the already NRA supporters watch them. NRA desperately needs our help. Also, although money may be more of an issue to some than others, WE ALL need to become members of the NRA, bigger numbers speak bigger words. Blessings to all that are for freedom, personal security, and happiness. Blessings to all that stand for and defend our priceless 2nd Amendment Right.

    As a 10 year Law Enforcement Firearms Instructor and Law Enforcement Deadly use of Force Instructor, I can endorse this video without giving it a second thought. However, remember one thing. If you are going to use an AR-15 for your primary self defense weapon at home, get two of them. One that you use "only" at the range (your more expensive one), and a used one. The reason for this is no matter if you have probable cause to use your AR-15 for self defense, Law Enforcement will have to take that firearm from you as evidence, and it is hard to say when you will get it back, even if you are in the right and you are exonerated of all charges. It would be a real drag to have your price possession taken from you.

    I'm English and Glad I got to experience shooting the AR15 While in the United States, amongst a few other firearms, I believe firearms have their place, The USA is a Free country, which is why you guys have them, their great for home defence, and going to a gun range is surprisingly fun, Its not just good to go to a range to prepare to be able to save your own life if you have to, but also just to see how good of a shot you are, its a great activity to take part in, I encourage all those living in America to try it out and support the NRA, I wish it was legal here in the UK, You guys live in a free country so take advantage of that and defend the freedoms you are able to hold as a birth right in your country, unfortunately for me I'm 3600 miles away, If I lived closer, Its a regular thing I would try and take part in every so often.

    • @johnski4709

      We'll have to wait till they get rid of gun free victim zones because that's where these attacks occur.

    • @chriswilliams9394
      @chriswilliams9394 8 лет назад +6

      that's because gun free zones tend to be schools and public areas where there are the most victims in one place. having a random civilian with no training firing a high caliber rapid firing weapon in public can only end in tears, in the hands of a trained police officer the AR-15 could save lives, but leave it to the police, you're not batman

    • @johnski4709
      @johnski4709 8 лет назад +6

      1) most civilian gun owners have more training than your average police officer who qualifies once or twice a year. Civilian shooters do this because they love guns usually practice 4+ times a month.
      2) The civilian version, the AR15 is not a rapid fire weapon.
      3) Personally I would protect myself and let any liberals around me get what they deserve for not investing in the protection of their own life and thinking others will do it for them. Which is the liberal mantra: no responsibility and make others do for you and blame everyone but yourselves. Sad really.

    basically the options are a terrorist gets a gun, tries to kill someone, kills a few and then gets shot himself by someone carrying an AR-15 (avg. casualties 5+) OR the terrorist won't be able to get a gun and no shooting will ever take place unless the gun is acquired illegally (avg. casualties 0). And this comes from the perspective a an Australian where we have high gun control and about 20x less shootings. Also, as a Seal you should know that shooting at a target and shooting a terrorist are two different things and someone fighting back is likely to get themselves killed or kill some one in the cross fire. And that your average citizen will likely only carry a handgun if anything and the only person wondering the streets with an AR-15 are terrorists and policemen. You should also know that most Americans can't afford a gun like this and if they can then they will most likely not be able to afford proper education and therefor will not have the knowledge on how to use it so will use it irresponsibly.

    Well said- stated and True!
    As a 32 year Lawenforcement Officer having served in both the U.S.,and Republic of Estonia's Military and Civil Lawenforcement Forces as such having been exposed to different small arms including the AK platform series of firearms.
    I have to say that the AR15 platform is over all the Best self loading; Rifle,Carbine and Pistol platform in the world in average common use.
    The AR15 platform design firearms is a highly dependable and accurate closed system design that protects itself able to overcome outside eliments such as; "Sand,Mud" etc. The AR15 platform usually keeps functioning when the AK platform usually does not.
    The AR 15 platform is highly " Well Regulated"; Mil Spec, well made functioning with uniformly interchangeable parts and adaptable for more add on features like "Flash Lights" etc.
    The AR 15 platform is a wise and effective choice for home and Personal Self Defence.
    Studying the History of the Second Amendment, one quickly comes to discover the truth, that the AR15 platform and accessories are very clearly fully protected under the codification of the Second Amendment as the AR15 firearm platform is a widely circulated popular commonly owned type of firearm.

Two shocking points for me was that, 380 to .45 caliber were within 3 percentage points, in stopping power, (9 mm beating .45) when averaged. I have noticed that I rarely notice anyone stating that the BATFE literature states that an assault rifle is a "select fire" weapon. This means that it has a selector position for full auto fire. Thus, an AR 15 is not an assault weapon such as the M16/ M4. Just my two cents.

    I completely agree. For home defense, I prefer to use a semi automatic rifle. I will be correct in my terminology here and say that I own a Sig M400, not an Armalite Rifle. Those who say "You don't need that for home defense" have absolutely zero clue what they're talking about. Some are comfortable relying on a pistol for home defense, some are comfortable relying on a shotgun, and some are comfortable relying on a rifle. It's whatever YOU are comfortable with. The first time I got my rifle and took it to the range, I shot tight groupings, and that in itself shows why many prefer the rifle. In a controlled environment, I shoot OK with a pistol -- in a CONTROLLED, CALM environment. If I were forced to use a pistol for home defense, I don't know how effective I would be with it. A rifle, on the other hand, you can have improper form and you can still be accurate with it. It is simple to use and it is reliable, especially for someone like me who isn't able to go to the range a lot.
    And for those anti-gunners posting, you can kill anyone with anything. In 2016, a terrorist killed over 80 people with a vehicle. Get rid of all guns, and you will still have the people who have the desire to harm others, and who will just go down the list on whatever tool they can use. Their methodology will change, but the outcome will be the same. Anti-gunners often accuse gun owners and supporters of 2A of caring more about guns than the lives of children. That is not true. In fact, I have 2 little boys who I care about very much. Taking my gun away does not increase their safety -- on the other hand, it takes away a reliable way for me and/or my wife to protect them should someone or "someones" attempt to do so; and yes, believe it or not, despite our successes, being able to afford a nice home in a nice neighborhood actually makes us a nice target, contrary to the odd popular believe that criminals will only go after poor homes that offer nothing of value.
    Also, I would make the argument that anti-gunners and anti-2A are the ones who either do NOT care about lives of children, or are so ignorant to think that the gun is what drives people to kill. If you really cared about the lives of children, wouldn't you want the most effective way to prevent the murdering of our children? Because shooting is only ONE way to kill. Don't you think the most effective way would be to actually focus not on the gun, but on the actual shooters, why they did what they did, and how we can prevent further tragedies? Right now, you're all so focused on HOW he did what he did, and you are so convinced that taking away guns will somehow prevent it, but the "How" will just change. Think of it like this: Why+How+Lack of intervention=Tragedy. In that case, How is NEVER a zero because there will always be a How.
    I actually want my kids to be safe once they start going to school. Sorry, but removing guns isn't going to cut it. Identify at-risk children, and do something. That is the ONLY way we're going to prevent tragedies. If "one is one too many," let me tell you that there is nothing stopping a kid from pulling the fire alarm and hacking people as they leave the classrooms, or running over the MASSIVE bunched group of kids once they are all huddled outside. Actually show that you want to protect our children, because right now it just seems like you're out to remove all guns.

    In the case that the video producers review their comments section, I want to leave the following critique: The message is very important, the person delivering it is one of the best possible people to deliver it. The format with tense guitar music and self-serious graphics detract from this important message by this important person. This is not an instructional video for children - its gravity can be conveyed by content and tone - music is not necessary, nor the graphics. Also, I wish there could be more time spent on an explanation of why the AR is the best weapon for current contingencies.
    I was not aware that the AR-15 was considered a perfect fit for the situation of today. That's probably the most important thing I got out of this video. Why a SEAL would choose it, a semi-auto tactical rifle, over a full-auto assault rifle is not immediately apparent. I just wish the case would be made more analytically.
    Finally, this term, coined by Hillary Clinton "everyday Americans" is ridiculous. Everybody is everyday. That even sounds ridiculous, but holds more water than "everyday Americans." "Americans" or "American citizens" work perfectly fine. This idea that there is some politico-economic class of people we ought to call "everyday Americans", and the name itself are reflective of a wrong way of thinking.

    Earth to NRA, every day life isn't a combat zone. I have nothing but the highest respect for our warriors and have no doubt that the seal they undoubtedly paid to endorse their message of reckless indifference towards our country's gun violence problems is nothing but a badass, but you don't need navy seal skills in your day to day life. Not to mention that anyone special forces operator knows their weapon like the back of their hand unlike the average gun owner. See, this is the problem. I feel like the average person thinks they are a Navy SEAL and this what these idiots at the NRA really would have us believe. Do you think the average gun owner has even been in a firefight? Just because you put in a gun in someone's hands doesn't mean that they are prepared to exchange fire with the bad guy. There is a huge difference between being part of one of the word's most elite fighting forces and going to the range with your buddies every other weekend.
    What the fuck would an AR 15 have done in Orlando? There is chaos everywhere and it's completely dark. Unless it was in the hands of a member of seal team 6, it wouldn't have done a damn thing. Also, it's not like people expect to caught up in a terrorist attack. What, do you think people are like "hey, it's Friday night. I'm going to to go out but I can't forget my AR15." What the NRA fails to realize is that the line between a "good guy with a gun" and a "bad guy with a gun" isn't as black and white as night and day. If the public sees someone walking around with a gun, the first thing that goes through their mind isn't "oh look there goes a potential super hero."
    "Choosing to defend your home with an AR15 is common sense." Yeah if you believe you have to defend your home from a hit squad or think the bogey man is coming to get you. What happens when your kid pics it up thinking its a toy, huh?
    NEWSFLASH. THE SAN BERNADINO SHOOTING WAS CARRIED OUT WITH TWO AR15s. The very weapons that these gun violence cheerleaders champion as the solution to having low blood sugar or bad weather. Maybe if we just focused on making sure that people with suspected terrorist ties don't get their hands on these things we wouldn't be trying to pitch fighting fire with fire as the gold standard here. Is the NRA really that dumb that it doesn't realize that if you make AR15s easy to get, they also FALL INTO THE BAD GUYS HANDS. Do you seriously fucking think that if we hand out AR15s like they are candy, they are just going to magically fall into the hands of the good guys? Do you seriously think pitting good guys agains the bad guys with a gun and a firefight makes anyone safer? Unless the good guys are Navy SEALS, it probably doesn't. There is this thing called crossfire.
    The shooter in Orlando was taken off a terrorist watch list recently and yet was legally allowed to purchase weapons. Do you think there is anything wrong with that Wayne? Hm?
    An AR15 wouldn't have done shit in the Boston bombing either. I know the NRA doesn't have a particularly good relationship with facts and loves to pedel to the simpler minded but there was no active shooter in Boston. The only thing that would have helped is better surveillance so the terrorist couldn't have planted the bomb. Putting a gun in someones' hands doesn't turn them into a detective either. The only thing that helped find the suspects was the FBI exhaustive investigation.

      If you dont want a gun dont get one. Go call the police when things go wrong. Dont try telling the rest of us what were capable of doing in a firefight .
      You have no clue whst you're saying and you sound like an ignorant wisp .
