My grandson is visiting West Point tomorrow...I suspect he'll receive an offer of admission (football)...couldn't be prouder! I was not aware that cadets have no idea what their branch was even going to be up to that point. Much different than for guys like me. I went delayed entry at the end of my junior year in high school and had everything nailed down in the contract well before going active. The suspense for these cadets, as they hold those envelopes, must be intense. So then how does it work? I know the cadets go through a form of Basic, but when and how do they get their training specific to their branch and how do they learn about the MOS they're assigned to lead?

After school they go to basic officer leadership course and that's basically like AIT for them
