Really nice trio of releases by you in recent months. Glad I could get a copy of all 3 on CD. I really need to listen to them back to back for the full impact. Maybe this weekend I'll get a chance to do that.
Clinging to a Scheme: that album is more like synth pop or indie pop. The first two albums are closer to dream pop and shoegaze. Clinging to a Scheme is one of my favorite albums of all time. That's a nice copy you have there. There's an og copy I want for like 250 bucks right now
good to hear michael cashmore is still at it. david tibet is into coptic and patripassian/east orthodox christianity and living in hastings he also has the occult angle because crowley lived there.
Cheers, Dereck! I think you're possibly on to something regarding your impression of Michael's album. Obviously, I have little idea what's going on with him personally, as I only ever met him once (he was very amicable and easy to talk with - we even connected on our interest in early punk!) and have only been in touch on and off with him during the years since. I like people who appear to be locked into their own path, though (artistically or those possessing a strong vision and the drive to help realise it, rather than psychopaths, no less!). That seems to be very much the case with Michael and he's an artist I long hoped to do something by, so it was nice when he wondered if I'd like to do this album. It's quite an invigorating listen and I can understand why some might find it difficult to glean anything from, but I believe I release a lot of music with a similar disposition (despite my enjoying all kinds of music and not being averse to a good song! ). Anyway, yes, the arcane/vaguely religious music angle to Michael's work on this album is a good point. Some of these pieces could have worked very well if much longer, I think, but that would have gone against the overarching concept behind this release. It works more with each listen, too. That's its biggest charm! With you on Radiohead and The Smile as well. Wonderful albums!
apparently, in the USA, when a flag is flown at half mast at a federal building, it remains for 30 days. It will overlap with Trumps inaugragation... which will drive him crazy as he craves to be centre of attention. This day... he will have to follow the rules. Jimmy Carter perhaps had the perfect parting gift regarding Trump. RIP President Carter.

Happy (almost) new year Dereck. I listen to you in the morning with my coffee. Appreciate you and what you do.

The most decent and selfless man to ever be president has left us, just as the most indecent and selfish man to ever be president is taking office.
