    I'm afraid it's a losing battle !
Females will always be treated as 2nd class citizens by the majority of males.
But I'm overjoyed when I learn of women who attain fulfilment in whatever they set about in life to achieve.
Waris Dirie has what most men fear in a woman. Namely, Beauty, Inteligence and Talent. Oh! not to forget - also if they are taller than them.

In the case of ritual genital cutting it is most definately males who are being treated as second class citizens! Just look at all the effort being made to protect girls from being cut when far more boys are cut and found perfectly acceptable in every single country in the world! Boys have died after being cut in the UK, no girls have. Waris Dirie had her own son cut and proudly boasted about it with no condemnation at all. What she has is zero empathy for males having their genitals cut, certainly something every man has every reason to fear!

Waris, I read your book! I admire and respect you! BIG KUDOS! Don't give up! Soooo glad you found out what was your purpose when the lion did not kill you.

Really? So you respect her boaasting about having her son cut and admiring his mutilated penis? Is that the kind of thing that turns you on?
As for the lion, there aren't any where she says she fled. Somali culture is rich in storytelling, it's only fairly recently the language was written and so oral narration passed down through the generations is still a big thing.

What a ridiculous moderator -- " . . . Just wondering what effect this had on you." Ms. Dirie could barely believe the ignorance of the question.

Women who come to england from fgm practicing countries need to be educated about the law and that there are going to be consequences for anyone who performs fgm on their daughter

Waris Dirie had her own child cut and boasted about it and how nice the result was. Comfort Momoh is not a medical doctor let alone an expert on the issue, so it is quite wrong to speak of her as such. The ritual cutting of girls in the UK is nothing like a huge issue, its a very minor one. The huge issue is when it comes to boys having their genitals mutilated, something even done in NHS hospitals at the taxpayers expense! In recent years boys have died after being cut in the UK. Ireland, Norway, Sweden, Spain, Italy etc, while no girl has ever come close to that.

I am sorry but I just gotta say that this is perfectly fine to me I don’t see why this is a problem like it has been done to me and and my brothers and sisters too and I think it just makes you more like a women who’s loves her culture and what her people has been following for the past 1000 years.

It isn't a problem as long as you are an adult making a free informed choice. However usually it is forced on a child when it becomes mutilation, which is a serious violation of human dignity, to be condemned by all. The fact that a harmful cultural practice has been followed for a very long time is absolutely no defense that it should be allowed to continue. Slavery, stoning and many other practices also had been followed for thousands of years and if all such practices had been respected on that basis then we'd still be in the stone age!
I do respect that you include all, both male and female though.

What has anything to do with her purpose? What is wrong with you? Specialty, you! You are a woman! I think!

@@chayito7 It is only those who have swallowed the western radical feminist's narrrative that believe this has anything to do with men suppressing women. It's about branding the new generation as belonging to the community so by pointing out she is an atheist, the case is being made that she doesn't belong to it and therefore has no right to speak for it. Exactly the same is heard of Jewish men speaking out against ritual genital cutting except nobody says "what does being a Jew have to do with it".
