    • @nicholastidemann9384
      @nicholastidemann9384 4 года назад +5

      Technically no, since fruitarianism means 100% fruit, just like vegetarianism means 0% meat; seaweed isn't fruit, which means their diet is not fruitarian. They still consume fruit almost exclusively from what I can tell, though. Seaweeds can definitely be beneficial in any case, not only do they contain iodine like is mentioned in the video, but many also contain biologically active B12; nori has been conclusively shown in scientific studies to do so.

      @@friedarichter9729: I do indeed.
      As for those fatty acids, contrary to popular belief they are not essential to the health of humans and other mammals at all; the reason they've long been assumed to be is that they are long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids, and thus protect your cells from the onslaught of oxidative damage (which saturates the fatty acids over time). This can show up in studies as relatively healthy when compared to diets consisting mostly of garbage, but the underlying beneficial effect you are really after is the antioxidative effect. As you might know, fruits contain incomparably more antioxidants than any other food group, and as such when consuming large amounts of fruit you will be far better protected from oxidative stress than you would be by consuming any amount of such fatty acids. In any case, most fruits even do contain a certain amount of such fatty acids inherently, and e.g. consuming your daily caloric intake in mangoes alone would provide you with more than the RDI of omega-3 fatty acids.

      this is because you get your info from a ‘doctor’ that is very misinformed. I used to follow the same advice until I started researching everything myself instead of trust on other people’s research. do a quick search on google scholar and you will find that this is completely false that iodine sublimates when dried. even when roasted (not that i suggest this). it does dissappear slightly but still leave more than enough to supplement daily needs and more!

    Well, I‘m pretty sure your high iodine intake has sent you into hyperthyroidism.
    That‘s why you feel so energetic right now. But on the long run, that overdone iodine intake will harm your health severely...you are going to get very sick (Grave‘s Disease).
    You should really get your blood tested, focussing on your thyroid. :/

    • @bigandlittle
      @bigandlittle 4 года назад +3

      Tina Somewhere symptoms of hyperthyroidism: Unintentional weight loss, even when your appetite and food intake stay the same or increase
      Rapid heartbeat (tachycardia) - commonly more than 100 beats a minute
      Irregular heartbeat (arrhythmia)
      Pounding of your heart (palpitations)
      Increased appetite
      Nervousness, anxiety and irritability
      Tremor - usually a fine trembling in your hands and fingers
      Sweating
      Changes in menstrual patterns
      Increased sensitivity to heat
      Changes in bowel patterns, especially more frequent bowel movements
      An enlarged thyroid gland (goiter), which may appear as a swelling at the base of your neck
      Fatigue, muscle weakness
      Difficulty sleeping
      Skin thinning
      Fine, brittle hair
      It doesn’t seem to me the he is suffering with any of these things, he appears very happy and well. I think it’s over the long term of overconsumption of iodine that causes hyperthyroidism, usually through taking meds or,supplements where dosage is too high. You’re going to need to eat a LOT of kombu in order to achieve this state.

    • @mxpwr93
      @mxpwr93 4 года назад +1

      That's BS. People in Japan eat up to 30mg of Iodine per Day everyday and they are fine. Most people in the West are Iodine deficiant.. And a shrimp cocktail will also not give oyu graves disease (but maybe heart disease?) ;)

    It's really awkward to see you by yourself when the obvious question is how the family is doing. A lot of people are very concerned about the child and that is normal since you guys said that the child is going to be fruitarian. You can see how that may upset people since the majority of fruits are not calorie dense enough to sustain a growing child. Some children have died from malnutrition with fruitarian parents and the question is where the parents not giving enough calories or was it because the fruit was inadequate nourishment. Some fruitarians seem not bothered enough by calories. The question is are you guys intelligent enough to realize that it's natural for humans to use fire and electricity and we have developed a lot of ways to get enough calories different from other animals, yet this is a part of our nature. Obviously adults need to cleanse sometimes, and an only fruit diet is a cleanse basically and it's very hard for a growing child to be raised on only fruit, since the giant trees of old were cut down. There's a reason why people started cooking and eating animals, although eating animals was a huge mistake, you gotta ask yourself what drove us to that. It was famine and we are still in a famine due to the lack of starchy fruit after the giant trees were gone. We can't pretend like the giant trees are here again, bananas don't cut it for a staple and neither do other fruits that aren't non sweet starchy. Getting enough starchy fruit to be able to make that a staple is difficult without living in the tropics, right under a durian tree that's always fruiting... Even tropical trees have seasons. Your skin seems lacking in fat and you also must be aware that growing children need more fat and protein than adults.

      It’s also pretty normal to go on a hike by yourself. And, no, everyone is not wondering where the family is and how they are doing. I’m sure they are fine.

      Not your child, not your choice. I bet most of the people calling it abusive to feed a baby a fruit based (biologically) appropriate diet are feeding their own kids a standard, toxic, garbage diet.
