Thanks for all the time and effort you have put into highlighting this problem - I hope to get delivery of my ix1 at the end of March (hopefully with working Adaptive lights) 👍
my girlfriend and I drove home yesterday and I said to here: look how the matrix works: it goes in the corner, it cuts out the car in front of you , it cuts out traffic signs and everything automaticly and fast. So our ix1 matrix works perfectly (we took delivery 29.12.22). Maybe this is absolutely clear for you, but I had to activate automatic high beams somewhere in the settings.
I want to take a closer look and test it again and focus on your problems you have. But i also drive a audi q4 with led matrix and the lights of our ix1 are as good, maybe even better.
Our current X1 (F48) has really good (non adaptive) lights. Our iX1 is ordered for May 2023. I really look forward that car and hope my (and your) concerns about the poor headlights will be solved by an update quite soon. Looking forward your next video!
Do your high beams project a quick, wavy animation when turning on the car at night? I saw this in a video. It is a good check for high beam matrix elements
Very interesting video, I have a x1 2023 how would you know if they are working properly or not I am here in US ? What Im having issuy with is with my cameras specially when I active the parking plus, my head up display also the screen after two weeks of delivery a black spot showed up in the button right corner like if the screen partially burned out. And I have a check engine light on as well tomorrow I will be having them to check it out
What I've also read: sadly, in general, the light on the X1/iX1 only has non-swiveling adaptive lights. They have static curve lights. (enabling segments instead of turning the light assembly as it has been with previous BMW cars).
A few days ago I drove an iX1 and an i4 during a BMW xDrive-Experience in the Austrian mountains on snow roads at night. The lights in the iX1 worked fine, the lights in the i4 was very poor (both low beam and high beam). I ignored that since I focused on driving. Maybe this information helps you to get a solution!
We got i4 with laser lights as our other car and its completely opposite for us. I4 lights are awesome. this iX1 i though had very poor lights. But then i drove it in dark without other traffic and it wasnt so bad. But certainly seems like there is no adaptive lights at all even though there is blue icon on.
I’ve ordered an iX1 in the UK, the matrix lights were what swayed me as part of the spec I wanted having had them in a Golf and my wife’s Skoda, hopefully this gets resolved for you and we get to see a video of how they should function! Hopefully mine comes with fully functional lights
I appreciate your reply are there any updates or has BMW resolved your issue. In my case since Im in US and my X1 is so new you can only relay on videos and web information because even the dealer I got it from just said that is the way hour vehicle was built and we can’t help you contact BMW directly
Subscribed to your channel because the channel deservs to grow to compensate your work on testing cars as well as editing and uploading videos. Keep up the good work. I hope I find a road that I can test the lights on my ix1. I need to drive further outside the city at night to be able to that. I didn't find a suitable time yet. Maybe in the coming weekend I can test it. My car is delivered 2 weeks ago and I think the software should have the factory update. I got one OTA update after the delivery though. I have a question, when I installed that OTA update, my battery droped from 90 to 70 percent. The update used 20% of the battery, which sounds crazy. Did you notice that if updates use significant power or it was an strange case for mw?
Thanks for your support! Didn’t notice any drop in battery while updating remote software but also not thought about it. But I think my car was plug in for charge during my update. Maybe it’s an updated and more precise calculation of remaining charge after the update?
Got bmw x5 g05 few month ago with standard LEds without "adaptive function" and I am completely disappointed with them - light intensity is too low for both low and high beams and I feel almost blind on motorway speeds during night time. It was two or maybe three times brighter on my previous 5 series f10
Unfortunately it looks like the design of the lights are more important than function today. Also few cars that have cleaning of headlights which is really necessary in Swedish winter.
Good review, I'm waiting on my X1,hopefully no issues. I'm thinking the best way to compare or find a definitive issue, is if you have another car with the adaptive setup, compare it directly with the X1 on the same night on the same road with the same camera setup.
I own à iX1 in France, thé high beam is strong, but it only switches from high to low beam when a car is coming and it's not following the road. Thank you for your nice presentation and effort to solve the problem.
Thanks for the info! There is a group on Facebook called BMW iX Europe where you can vote if it’s working or not. Please do that so we can see how many that has the problem.
Hello Per I got my new IX1 for one week ago. I have tried my Adaptive LED and it has the same problem as yours. I have contacted my dealer and explaind the problem which they were not aware of. I will wait for your information when BMW come back with a solution. I think its not useful to contact service because of that they still havent any solution. Do you think I do te right decision? Best regards NOA

Yes it works on his car and other cars but on the most of the delivered iX1 there is a fault which means that they don’t work as they should. BMW is working on solution for this. When we investigated this in a group on Facebook 17 out of 22 cars had the same error.

@@swede-365 🚙👍 Takk for veldig gode video beskrivelser.
@@airBornFpv it’s booked at the workshop on Wednesday and of course I leave a report after that!
You’re doing a great job! Thank you and let us know the outcome of the software update and BMW’s comments! 👍

iX1 delivery 9 jan 2023, no problems with the lights so far
Sounds very promising, thanks for your reply!
And thanks for your efforts.
Thank you 🙏

My problem was that they didn’t follow the curves on the road and the intensity was very low on high beam.
Thanks for your time. The software is not updated automatically without visiting the car workshop?
You must visit a workshop
@@swede-365 Understood! Possibly the vehicle software is firmware

If matrix works as it should it’s a more flexible and better solution then swiweling lights

Heard that there were similar problems with some iX also so hopefully they find a solution.
Hi do you have video on how to scan code and connect to BMW app
Unfortunately not
I am having massive issues with Adaptive LED a that cause issues to other vehicles due to the beam being too high. Did you had the same?
No, my problem was that the adaptive functions didn’t work at all.
@@swede-365 to be honest I don’t know if mine works as the beam is always so high and so strong. I am contacting BMW asap
I thought it had over the air updates saving going into the workshops ?
I explain that in the video!

It’s not subjective. The lights are defective. The adaptive functions just isn’t enabled.

I had an Audi RS E-tron GT before, that was a pain!
@@swede-365 Unfortunately, German cars are on average not very reliable and (in the long run) also not very durable.
