  • Memory of an adventure of pain in the toot for colleagues, friends and I. Cycling to Desaru was a real deal of endurance test for amateur cyclists like us. Our journey started from Tanjung Belungkor, Johore, Malaysia. It was situated about 7 km further west of Pengerang. We took a 30 minute pleasant ferry ride early in the morning from Changi Ferry Terminal (30 Changi Ferry Road, Singapore), across to Tanjung Belungkor. It was a day trip of approximately 72 km (to and fro) from Tanjung Belungkor to DESARU.
The weather was scorching hot! Along the journey, we passed by numerous oil palm plantations. We went through a lot of up and down slopes that really test our mental fitness besides stamina. Rested at a few pit stops and had lunch in between. It took about 4 hrs for us to arrive to DESARU. We spend about 1 hr there to rest before we proceed to return back to the ferry terminal for our return cruise to Singapore. Due to the heat, as expected, we encountered bush fires in few locations as we paddle back to Tanjung Belungkor Ferry Terminal. Fortunately, we returned safely except for one of us who had fallen and suffered minor bruises and abrasions. While the others returned back in 'one piece'. Personally, I felt that this trip was exciting and a wonderful experience despite almost get muscle cramp on my right thigh! OoooYeah!
