    this scene is a mere perfection. notice the moment just after the shots, the dark figure of the cigarette smoking man is positioned just right so it creates a reflection of the hand holding the gun. and while the gun is lowered it looks like this is his hand holding the gun. and you may bet this is not a coincidence nor it is by chance or random.

      This was my favorite episode. It's the one that always stuck out in my mind more than any other (despite how much I love Scully and Mulder). I just thought what they did with the CSM's character was just brilliant. Here is a guy who spends the entire show in the shadows as the "bad guy", we never even learn his name(unless it's in episodes after Mulder leaves, I stopped watching at some point), as though that would humanize him too much. But then that's exactly what this episode does. It shows he's human & vulnerable just like everyone else & part of what leads him to become who he is, I was shocked to find my heart go out to him with his writing. That's actually what I remember most & the parts in b&w. I don't really remember this scene (it's been years) but it was heartbreaking in a different way. Need to watch this episode again! Sorry so long lol.

      Thing is the show never makes it clear whether this event actually happened or not. Watch the video again - as soon as the smoking man finishes writing he gets the phone call about the alien ufo crash.
      It is sort-of implied that this the smoking man wrote this scene in his novel so it isn't entirely clear whether it took place or not.

      Technically we never saw him kill anyone directly, besides MLK, and JFK....but Chris Carter points out that this episode is based on what The Lone Gunman pieced together about CSM. Later, we see CSM have a soft spot about the possible death of Mulder, Samantha, Teena Mulder, and later he cannot bring himself to kill his ex wife, Casandra Spender. Ultimately he did not even kill his son Jeffrey, instead submitting him to project experiments.

      Because it was captured by the US Government. There was a Secret UN Security Council rule that any country that captures an alien needs to kill it. The syndicates agreement with the alien colonists was kept secret from all governments including the US. So in the end they had to play along.

    • @rochey1010
      @rochey1010 3 года назад +6

      Hi, this is how i see it; the colonists (greys) want earth and to exterminate humanity. Their weapon is the black oil (sentient) and spread through specially polinated bees that cause a virus. They don't want a blood bath or a wreck of a planet. So if they can have the humans submit to their will? All the better. That happens through changing humans into hosts/aliens.
      Now it was a secret plan for a long time but our government found out about it after Roswell. With that a shadow group formed (syndicate) to deal wity this threat. This included Bill Mulder, CSM, deep throat etc. (OG group)
      They understood that for self preservation a deal should be struck with the colonists. That deal is that they'll help humanity submit to the will of the aliens through lies, tampering and subterfuge. There are terms on both sides though. On the syndicate's they get an alien fetus so they can create hybrids to survive in this new world. On the colonists? Each syndicate member has to give up a member of family as collateral to the aliens. Bill Mulder gives up Samantha, CSM gives up Cassandra his wife. The colonists will turn these family members like them and ensure their survival. Think of the syndicate group as elites with special privilages. Essentially making a deal with the devil.
      Sounds all neatly wrapped up right? Wrong each side is backstabbing the other. The colonists have no intentions of allowing humans to survive. They want the planet. We're in the way. So their secret weapon is the black oil that will infect and change us into aliens.
      The syndicate are unaware of this weapon but find out. Bill Mulder rebels and creates a project to prevent the colonists from suceeding. He secretly begins working on a vaccine. This vaccine will kill the black oil and the colonists plans.
      Then all the dark politics come into play. Other countries know and a sorta treaty is formed between the countries. The aliens are dangerous so if one is captured. That country must deal with it's extermination. Hence deep throat (USA) shooting it. I assume it's like the CIA and the colonists are pragmatic, ruthless and emotionless. The alien got caught so it must bear the consequences. And we must remember aliens are backstabbing the humans so basically the alien was compromised doing backstabby stuff. Russia is always rogue so it starts experimenting with the black oil and trying to beat the americans to a vaccine. Then add in all the government experiments to stop the aliens taking over (abducting humans, harvesting ovum etc to create alien hybrid clones) all designed to backstab the colonists's plans. And then the colonists realising that to win they need to infiltrate high levels of power to sabotage these human plans from the inside hence supersoldiers in the FBI and military. And changing abductees with special forms of the black oil when they abduct them e.g Billy Miles, Mulder.
      So all these games are going on within this alliance between humans and the colonists. And then like humans can be at odds with each other (Bill mulder and the syndicate) so can aliens. So there is a warring faction against colonisation (Rebels) and they have disfigured themselves to prevent the black oil infecting them. To prevent colonisation they have to undo the colonists work. So they get rid of the abductees (burning them e.g the syndicate's demise in S5 and Cassandra spender who was the only sucessful human/alien hybrid.
      The goal is taking over the planet for the aliens. The mythology is humans doing everything possible to prevent this and ensure survival. With an uneasy alliance struck over decades and each side doing whatever it takes to sabotage each other. Mulder is the prodigal son who uncovers the truth.

      No, it's a sly reminder that these events aren't canon. What is canon is that CSM listened in on the lone gunmen telling Mulder and Scully this wild and often inaccurate version of CSM life. Interestingly, the fact that the Lone Gunmen were known to the CSM, and that he was going to personally murder them, gets completely lost!
      The overall plot of the show revolved around the government's decade long knowledge of, enabling of, and even surrender to of extra terrestrials. They wouldn't have a directive 1013 in the xfiles universe, it's B.S and the entire sequence is fantasy.

      There was a little reported UFO sighting in Vietnam. Supposedly there were 2 “ enemy helicopters” which engaged several patrol boat rivers in a running gun battle of some length. They expended 100s of rounds of munitions on them and were unable to score a kill. An F-4 engaged one with an AIM-9 they alleged but again no damage. That same AIM-9 reappeared several hours later and struck an Australian frigate. Parts of the missile matched the serial numbers of the missile carried aloft by the F-4 and USAF records confirm the missile was fired, however the AIM-9 is a short range air to air missile how it stayed up for hours and miles from where it was corked off is unknown.
