What a great tribute dedicated video. So much going on so many things happening. Definitely going to watch this one again to hopefully catch it and the lessons learned from instruction will sink in to my old brain. Brian 🤠 PS. I felt like I was right there with all of you excellent editing.
Great video Nathan, really enjoyed the video down in Georgia. Always a fun trip and friendship learning experience. Thanks to all who participated in putting on this awesome outing. Fred.
That feller knows how to get the best out of a quarter sawn log he is a person to learn from I hope he was teaching all of you fellers how to get the same results
ya know, I’ve sorta watched a couple of your earlier vlogs about this place, but Dang! That is one big operation there. No wonder you go down, what a learning experience!
Hey Nathan, notice how the dust collector hose is hung from the overhead. Yours is laying on the floor. Yours has sharp bends in the hose as the mill move forth and back. Try hanging your hose from the ceiling like this guy does. That will likely stop the sharp bends and the clogging tendencies.
Nathan I believe that new jig for cutting “cookies” is the bomb. I don’t know how popular cookies are in your area but it’s a very desirable product with designers and resin workers. Here in Az sawyers can’t keep them in stock. They might do real well on your Etsy store. Good luck great show there. 👍👍👍
Hello from Loudon, TN. I am a subscriber and I enjoy your work. This is an enjoyable video and it was informative. Can you tell me the name of the guy singing at the end? I'd like to get that song if he is published.
Anyone else spemt 20m looking for that opening song lol what is it! Im playing that at the swmill tuesday we are back from Labour day here in canada. Im a board stacker and length ripper for orders, being smi trained as a grader for white pine.
I designed and made a shingle sawing attachment for a friend's home made band saw mill it worked good but we don't have wood like white cedar but what ever we sawed them from worked there was some problems but not with smaller timber only with the big timber
I thought that cracked up log 🪵 was garbage but now after watching a real craftsman explain how to cut it and seeing the results, I can’t wait to start sawing
Every Sawyer needs this: amzn.to/49SnMoF
Beautiful tribute to Danny.
Thank you kindly

The camera work for each Project gets better as the years go by.
I love the dedication to Danny at the end.
Thank you very much!
Always a pleasure to watch your videos on Jake Dean sawing those massive logs. The grain on them was fantastic.
Cheers.

The medullary rays look like tiger stripes. Amazingly beautifull. That 1/4 sawn oak is tough competition for Black Walnut, my favorite.
Yes sir
Love the Paul Harvey quote during the intro.
Every sawmill need a doggo with no tail! Looks like a great time, and a lot of learning.
Glad you enjoyed it
Gorgeous wood , not only the white oak but that sinker cypress too .

He’s got those Dogs Knocked down to throw all the Sawdust!
Lol
Wow! The white oak really is epic. Just drop off a couple of those boards at my house. 😃
✅ done
~~~HIT THE LIKE FOLKS!~~~
Great video!
Thanks!
Equipped to handle the big logs. Old saw mill with a solid reputation.
Yes sir
Y'all always show a feast when I can't even to grab a snack
Agreed
wow. nuff said.🙏🙏🙏😸
Ty
Awesome videos,just subscribed
Thanks for the sub!
To finish out this man's massive array of equipment he needs a Matthew Cremona Saw mill. I believe 6' cut capacity
The way Jake throws that blade into those logs and just ploughs on through. You need to go faster Nathan!
you ant lying!
I believe I recognized one of those pickers at 22:10....
Just FYI that planer has a 30" capacity. Some of the boards we were running was 28" wide.
I think he might have learnt that from the blue heeler 😂
😂😂👍
Hey Nathan, great video! When you saw up some cookies, what is the best way to keep them from cracking as they air dry? Anchor Seal?
yes two coats,
this guy is making lumber quick like..
Agreed
How big was that white oak your friend cut in half ? Really nice lumber . Jake knows his business . Seeya
I think around 50in
Nathan, will the quaternary sawn wood be used for furniture making?
Yes sir
Are the two different colors a permanent feature of the wood or will they age out?
Honestly, I was wondering if they were using Joe's blades. That is certainly a good endorsement for them.
Always ✅
Resonator is what he goes by
No one has yet mentioned the skill involved in the chainsaw rip cut to halve that log
Agreed
👍👍👍
But did you throw the ball for the Blue Heeler?
Maybe 🤔
@@OutoftheWoods0623 I would have. Constantly. Lol.
What a fun and educational event. btw, day 1 burgers. why are the patties shaped like that?
Ask the cook I guess. I didn’t notice
what is the advantage of quarter sawing a long
More stable
Question,If there Sawing the 1/4 Won’t they have to Edge all the 45* off the Boards?
Species
Some yes
Does the guy on the chainsaw have ear protection?
Must be summer time in Tennessee cuz all we are getting is reruns 😩
I just filmed that last week
why do you scrap the saw dust off the top of the log
How do you get invited to the event
I can't believe it's been a year already.
Side note boarder of quebec and ontario where we get 36" diameter logs n trees over 100 feet.
its a Government job - one guy working with a dozen "Supervisors"
Nothin prettier than white oak lumber regardless of the grain.
How long
?
I couldn't take to the Lucas Mill just something about it scares the living daylights out of me
Agreed
No ear protection on anyone. I can just imagine what it will be like with all of you in the old-age home. Eh? What? Eh?
Can you repeat that?
Pardon😂
I'm more surprised that no one had a beer in hand..
They did after dinner.
Diana, I was thinking the same thing! (Nathan, I hope you weren’t bullied into not wearing yours)
