I was out of the country, in the woods of Canada, on vacation with my parents and other families when we heard Nixon’s resignation speech come over the radio someone had. It was a strange feeling because nothing like that had happened at that time and no one knew what would happen next. Republicans always reference CNN and “main stream media” as fake news, but statistically speaking Fox News by a long shot shares more misleading or false information. No, this was the turning point. When Gerald Ford pardoned Nixon it was supposed to be healing, but it was just lack of total accountability. That led to what Reagan and Clinton got away with and then of course to having a convicted felon on the ballot and a Supreme Court without ethics.

The new conservative party will probably spring from the democratic middle and those that left the old republican party due to maga extremism.
