I prefer to compare clocked speeds of humans vs. horses rather than staging races like this just to boost video viewership. Secretariat's top clocked speed during his historical Belmont 1.5mile race was 49 mph. Usain Bolt's top speed during his world record 100m dash was 27.8 mph. That says it all about horse vs. human!

Look at the times in horse racing, current record is held by "Passion Spirit Z" and did 100 yards in 6.02 seconds, extrapolating to meters probably they do it in about 6.3 seconds.

The Mav V Horse race was actually designed to see who could handle the hilly, rocky, sloppy terrain better. Three humans have now beaten the horses. The Vermont 100 in America is the only other man v horse race I know of. Keep in mind the horses have mandatory rest stops where they're treated by a vet to be sure they're healthy and uninjured, and can't continue until their heartrate has dropped into the low 60s, whereas people can run themselves into oblivion unhindered.

The man took off ahead, the horse was just getting his bearings, saw the man running and was like "Run with the herd!" and shot past the man, to win.
Horses are packed with slow twitch muscles, but they are super fast when the get up to pace. Thats why the horse started behind, then rapidly caught up.

Ultra long endurance races in excess of 100 miles have horses having average speeds of about 26-30km/h and thats even taking into account the time spent at vet checks, if they go slower at around 20km/h for 24h that means they could travel about 480km in 24h compare that to the usual 200km run by runners in 24h races. The only way a human can beat a horse is putting the best that the human species has to offer in a extremely hot and humid climate, the horse overheats due their much larger mass. To level things it would be nice to make the humans carry weight extra as the horse does.

Even an average horse can run at least 30mph easily, which is about 5mph above a humans absolute top speed even with an adrenaline rush. Humans are built for endurance distance running to wear out prey rather than out-speed them.
