  • The international architecture firm Herzog & de Meuron was founded in Basel in 1978 by Jacques Herzog and Pierre de Meuron. Since then, the practice has designed a wide range of projects from small scale private homes to large scale urban design. Senior Partner Stefan Marbach speaks about Herzog & de Meuron's site-specific and individual approach to sustainable building and in particular, the HORTUS project, where radically sustainable building practices are used to achieve low energy consumption and a low carbon footprint. He has led and realized a number of high-profile national and international projects, such as Prada Aoyama, Miu Miu Aoyama and Uniqlo in Tokyo, the Beirut Terraces in Lebanon, the Nouveau Stade de Bordeaux, as well as the New Hall for Messe Basel, the Roche buildings and the St. Jakob Stadium in Basel.
