Glad I found your video Jordan! I'm leaning towards the D-Fuse line... needing something for a series of 12 x 12 LED panels.. thanks, this was helpful. Thumbs up and all the best to you!
Love your content Jordan. Great work! I really appreciate your focus on budget video gear, very helpful and informative.
Thank you for doing such great work. For new tubers like us, this is such great information.❤️
Thank you again for the great review/ comparison Jordan! I bought the lights after watching your video and now I'll get the diffuser as well.
Cheers
Sorry to be off topic but does anybody know a tool to get back into an instagram account?
I stupidly forgot my password. I would love any tricks you can give me!
@Kristopher Phoenix Instablaster ;)
@Elisha Vincenzo I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site through google and I'm trying it out atm.
Looks like it's gonna take a while so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Is it possible to fix barn doors on the air model? And is yn600 a much brighter light or just slightly brighter? Thanks.
I just purchased 2 Yongnuo YN-600L lights, looking for a carrying case for them, any suggestions?
Hello Jordan, What is the beam angle on the yn300 air without a diffuser? Ie. What sort of spread would putting it 15" from a wall create?
Can you remove the barn doors from the mk III, to put it in an umbrella softbox?
I was wondering why you went with the D-Fuse with the diffused sides (almost like a spacelight). Did you need a wider area lit?
How come you don't test with a light meter for the light throw? Thanks
Are you filming at 60fps? The movement in the video looks odd, and facial gestures and blinking look like they are slightly sped up?
Hi, I'm new to video and still learning. I bought 2 x YN300 III and these light output both 3200K and 5500K. If I mix the light output together(say 100% on both K) what do I set the white balance in the camera to match the light?
how many you think i need to light a small studio set
Hi there! Did the bigger softbox work well with de 300 yn? If yes, I'm considering buying in case I buy a 600 or 900 yn in the future. Thanks!
Many thanks! Buying the cheap one now ))
Regarding the D-Fuse, shouldn't you be putting your barn doors inside the softbox?
What about the barn doors? Where do you get those?
What do you think about the cheap amazon $30 softboxes that uses the 85W bulbs? Please your honest opinion, send it back and get the Tongue YN300 air or the III 3-5k model? other comments are welcome as well.
Is the yn300 iii and air same size?
Thanks so much for what you present to us. I have the Neewer NL600 and purchases the red/white diffuser, but, am soooo looking for a softbox of any size that will fit my LED panel light with an EGG CRATE grid on the front. Looks impossible at present, but, if you know of one...please share. Many thanks, Huie from California.
Thanks from Brazil!
I can't actually tell a difference at all, theres a slight change in the area you pointed but i'd actually put that down to the screensave you had running
I love this series of videos you've made covering these lights. I got the YN600 air and love it, really bright and about the size of an ipad pro. I'm trying to decide now which I should get next, the yn300 air (only 150 5500k LEDs) or an all 5500k version of the standard yn300. I'll use it as a kicker for now but also want one for a filler light or something else so the standard yn300 might be more useful.
By the way, what ring light do you use? If you have a video on it I must have missed it, but it looks great.
The video about the ring light is linked in the description. It's the 18" Neewer Ring Light I picked up on Amazon.
I also linked videos about the YN300 Air, 5500K YN300 III, and YN300 with 3200-5500k, so definitely check those out. :)
Awesome, thanks for the links! I saw the Yongnuo reviews and they were a big part of the reason I went with that one. Very helpful!
Hi JK, really helpful review,I have purchased YONGNUO YN-600 II LED for product video shoot, can you please suggest a soft box for that, or is it better to go with large diffuser..? to avoid shadows.?
wugolu I would go with the d-fuse since is intended for an Amaran led with almost 600 led bulbs, looks that would work better with yours
Now this is a review I've been wanting to see. I like the behind the scene and video/lighting stuff. Has the JK logo always been there?
The JK logo is a relatively new addition! A guy approached me on Twitter and we worked out a deal for him to make me a logo and some banners, and I've been really pleased with them! Unfortunately haven't finished up a new intro based around them yet, but I'm working on it.
Hi Jordan. I have those the Kamerer diffusers and 2 y300 lights. I really don't notice any difference in them BTW, What ring light do you use? And do you like it? Thanks.
Yeah, there wasn't a huge amount of difference. On a larger panel, it might make a bigger difference.
The ring light is a Neewer 18" ring light, linked in the video description.
What light are you currently using-it's beautiful! [Not the YNs]...would love to know!
For this video? Just the 2 YN300 lights and a lamp with a couple of larger CFL bulbs. For more recent videos, I've been using a Neewer 18" LED Ring light ( amzn.to/2fMdCkc ) and a FancierStudio 576 light ( amzn.to/2i6bRir )
One more question Jordan; What is the camera you use for this videos?
Thank you!
Main camera: Panasonic G7 with Panasonic 20mm f/1.7 lens.
Overhead camera: Sony FDR-AX33 camcorder
I've gotten this question so many times I'm going to shoot a quick video going through my video making gear in the next few days, I think.
That would be awesome! The quality of your image, sounds, lighting is top notch! I'm sure people would enjoy seeing your gear.
Thank you again for all the great content you put out
You should have done a split screen between the two. Just being nit-picky lol
Is the fan noise from the YN300 loud?
Zealous Tutorials I’ve never heard the fan of the 300 if that says anything lol.
There's barely a difference between the two (from what I could tell). Interesting since you bought the all-white version of the D-Fuse as well instead of the traditional softbox one (with the reflective material on the sides like the SB300).
Do you find that there's any real difference in using these vs. just the LED light by itself? I was thinking about getting the large D-Fuse one for my Aputure 198 and 672 (and just modifying it so it'll fit) since the larger surface should make more of an impact on creating a softer light.
Yeah, I noticed after the fact that the SB300 had reflective material inside. Kinda strange that D-Fuse didn't seem to offer an option that was reflective as well. The non-reflective sides allow the D-Fuse to put out a wider area of light, but like you said, for me, it wasn't significantly different.
The biggest reason to use any of them (even the sheet/scrim I had in place beforehand) was that the LED panels on their own put off a very harsh light that even the frosted filter didn't help. If you check out my videos on the YN300 linked in the description, the one about the 5500k light shows both of the LED panels without screens in place, and they're a bit too harsh for me.
What about gels would they be to harsh?
I haven't tried them, but if I remember right, gels usually just change the light color, they don't actually diffuse anything, do they?
They do have diffuser jels that fit with the barn doors on or sometimes just snap on. With the barn doors on you can obviously direct the light better. I would say the soft box is better but just thought I would mention it cuz they are cheap.
wouldn't trust a gel that says its for diffusion, the nature of the material basically means thats going to be very difficult to control if it even works at all, if you're strapped for cash just get a pack of tracing paper and some pegs
why don't you do revisited phone videos?
I always mean to, and I always fall behind on videos, so they end up falling off the back burner.
I pulled the N5X out a few weeks ago, did all the updates, and messed with it for a few hours, then realized just how far behind I was on other videos, and forgot about it, again. I'm sorry.
Tip to anyone: mount the light on the stand first THEN put the diffusion box on so nothing's on the weight of the barn doors.
heeeeeey TARDIS poster!!!!
