As a Lash fanboy. i had to watch this. It's sadly rare to see high level Lash matches so this was a nice surprise. the copter and artillery play was something else. focus firing the anti air really did you in. Imagine if Lash copters actually got terrain stars to power them up here. Lash is sadly hard to use with her needing specific terrain for both day to day and her powers. thus her powers end up kinda weak and taking too long to charge. to think they even nerfed her in dual strike too.
What people tend not to recognize fighting against city boosted CO's is that forcing your opponent to take engagements next to cities can often seem tempting to them, but overall it's a losing proposition. "Especially if you have indirects rolling in to Zone after you get your turn to strike". Kindle/Lash can be crazy indirect users on some maps not just due to boosted firepower but because attacking entrenched Arty's will do more damage to their opponent if they have their indirects properly covered by Tanks.
10:48 exactly 30% chance for the tank to 1-shot the infantry. It displays 9 possible results, but there are still 10 possible luck rolls, and two of the rolls result in exactly 1% HP. If the luck roll didn't work they could have finished off with the artillery, although the rest of the attack wouldn't be as good.
I was watching this live and figured someone had to go when it was paused. Idk why but I heard all the unit movements, but it wasn’t until the bomber moved that I realized it 😂 GG’s!
With all the artillery mahizzle1 utilized, even defending them well, he didn't really get juicy shots off with any of them. Helicopter spam seemed more integral to his actual engagements. However, his artillery also served as distractions, as Mangs would focus on taking them out. I wonder if that is their greater utility to some degree, making your opponent charge like a bull with their power/super push for a unit that isn't accomplishing that much, other than being an existential threat.
I never understood why Jess has to have -10% firepower on infantry units. There's nothing wrong with Eagle or Drake's infantry, and they're not even land specialists! Jess is supposed to be the land specialist, but her infantry, which move on land, are the weakest in Green Earth. I always thought that was weird. As a Jess fan, very disappointing as well. It really hurts her capture game.
Excellent match from both of you. Some thoughts that came to mind: 5:10 I disagree. He also had enough money for a tank, so he would have struck back from a city. As Lash. This is your strong side, you would have taken that back eventually. 7:24 Hey, Walker fixed the pipe seam bug! 18:30 Disagree. You only had one anti-air close enough to kill a copter, wich would have ended your attack early. It was an excellent attack- especially since you managed to kick lash off a city, and all of it took place on very light terrain. One missed opportunity here, is that you didn't exploit the fact that he had no anti-air at all, because he went heavy on the tanks and copters. A fighter might have been a better way to fend away those copters, and a bomber could have allowed you some leeway against those neo's. I understand, you are Jess, but such a glaring weakness is to big to not exploit. When you eventually build a fighter, the timing was off. It also would have given you extra space to increase your infantry count. That mega was not a bad move, since even bombers won't do much to them.
Thanks for the vid! Honestly kudos to the lash player. Lash in itself is a bit nuanced, but also finding a way to make Lash Copters mvp? that's super well done ggs
One thing that might be interesting would be if you could maybe try to do more interviews after the commentaries or maybe even some co-hosting stuff. Like, invite your opponents to a video call and then they can explain what they thought when they made their moves or why they did some specific things. Or if you commentate a match between two other guys and you were not directly involved, maybe invite both of them so they can give some small comments on their intentions and reasons why they played the way they did. Could be pretty interesting and give some additional insight.
doesn't work like that. every attack gets a luck roll from 0 to 9, all chances are multiples of 10%. In this instance it's 30% since you need to roll a 7 8 or 9
@@pivotkid908 No, that's the DEFAULT luck (wiki tells you so). The luck values differ when the attacking unit doesn't have full hp, the defending unit has some defense, or the attacking CO has special luck values. As an example: This very luck roll, 94%-102%, ranges only from 0-8 luck, and Nell SCOP ranges from 0-99.
Lash is a CO with a D2D that makes her so dominant early. The issue with her is you're on a clock. If you don't get a massive advantage by the time you use your 2nd SCOP, your opponents counterattack is just too much.
Langs played well. Even if I was a tier above, it would be difficult to achieve as much as you did against such a skilled player. What a wonderful match.
How would you recommend getting started in AWBW if I only ever played Advanced wars campaigns in the last couple years or so? I only played AW 1&2 so not familiar with the new COs / units.
You sure you couldn´t have time him out? (Or made him make a mistake on Time rush?) It wouldn´t feel "Honorable" for sure but quicker thinking ALSO deserves a "survival of the fittest" spot.
I never play HF, but are missiles more viable in hf? The way i see it the greatest problem with the copter spam was that mahizzle always could kill your AA because they need to go to the front to kill bcopters. And a missile in the backline with some infantry around is harder to kill, if he tries that he'll have to overextend. Since missiles are such meme units i have never played with them, so no idea if this could work, or if they are even worse than i thought.
Nah, Missiles are pretty much never viable becuse of their 4 move, it's impossible to get them into position. The only time you want to build Missiles is if you can get them in range of the enemy airport to lock it down.
It's exactly a 1/3 to 1 shot. 94, 95, 96, 97, 98, and 99 are a live (6 values) 100, 101, and 102% are all kills (3 values); total values represented is 9, total values that result in a kill is 3, therefore it was a 1/3 chance to kill.
I think Lash is more at home in AW2 than AWBW. "Because of pre-deployed campaign units?" well that's part of it, but mostly because there aren't comm towers and Lash and Grit would prefer a slower paced game. Actually, I think the same is true of Nell too since Lady Luck will do lots of damage over many engagements but isn't guaranteed to wallbreak one particular unit in an engagement. Also for some reason I'm told she's great at using recons to kill indirects in fog, which I don't think is true since in fog you still need to spot the indirect anyways. But it's nice to see that even though Lash is not in her prime element, there are players who can use her really well.
@@swagmaster2003 Try this little experiment. Do a Lash VS Andy, Lash VS Sonja, and Lash VS Max in 6 games (play both sides so the reustls aren't biased by one side being better) with a friend. Now do it again with more friends on different maps. Then do it all again with the com towers replaced by cities. Yeah I tried 84 games this way plus an additional 14 (since we were just having so much fun that week). Lash did better when they were cities. To be honest I'm not sure it is a case of slowing down the game. In fact, once the first Super power is used, a comm towerless game doesn't feel slow. Units are destroyed and powers start firing off. Even on turns without the power, there are often injured units to clean up. A surprising number of times engagements took places on plains despite trying to use the 3 stars of the cities. I've also noticed forests don't protect your indrects against Lash very well. you either need to just wall off or have a Mech or Tank close to the artillery to prepare to retaliate. Also I think Andy stomps Lash if there is a single road that goes through almost every city. In 3 of the maps, 75% of the cities were placed on a single "road network," the Lash player's indirects fell the moment hyper upgrade came on. Granted, 18 games in the "Lash vs Andy on a specific map style" is less than the 98 games we played so this wasn't a big sample size.
I don't think you played enough pvp against people not your friends. Lash will lose badly against COs in her tiers if she stalls. Andy will have a bigger army, Drake will have used Tsunami, Rachel will have used her missiles, etc etc. Lash is an aggressive CO, her defensive trick only works when she has her SCOP. Otherwise, she has to use her D2D firepower to kill units off early game. She is similar to Kindle, except Kindle is consistently better( IMO Kindle shouldn't be in the same tier). In High Funds, Mangs is correct, Lash usually sucks, the other player was simply better in this match.
@@monsterchief117 OK... well how are you supposed to use a "control"? Like how many people will agree "rematch, same map, except we change 2 properties of the map?"
@@alex_zetsu I second monsterchief here, your friends aren't the best way to test something. For all the details on how Lash works, I recommend you to watch Mangs' "Why Is Lash So Overrated?" video.
Also, you didn't need a max luck roll per-se on the first shot; it could survive with 6 and still be 2 shot. a 49-51% will 2 shot the carrier or a 50/50 and you had the 49-51 option as potential because when you 6 HP check, the max hit value is 51. This amounts to about a 1.8% chance to 2-shot a carrier if you roll 49%, as rolling 49% is a 1/7 chance (values 44 through 50), and then subsequently rolling a 51% next is a 1/8 chance (values 44 through 51), so multiplied together and then by 100, you get 1.8% rounded up. If you were to roll the 1/7 50% damage chance, however, your odds of killing on the second blow are significantly higher, as the values 45-49 are not kills, but 50-53 are kills which is 4/9 chance, and if you repeat the math, you come out to about a 6.34 chance at a 2-hit if you roll the 50% damage, which, in total, gives you about an 8.1% (1/12) chance to 2 bang it. Fun fact, if you had reversed the order of your CO power turns you would have a significantly better shot at 2-downing it. With no COP you roll 37-44%, so 37-39 are 7 HP lives impossible to kill, 40-44 are 6 HP lives; this is a 5/8 chance (62.5%) of hitting for 4. You then have a 51-59% spread on your second shot, of which a 40% roll cannot result in a kill outright which is 1/5 of your total options gone, nor can a second roll of 51-55 which is 5/9 of your options, resulting in a 34/45 chance to fail, or an 11/45 chance to succeed, which is about a 15.3% chance to 2 round the carrier. This obviously makes sense too, as the overall damage to defense discrepancy is greater due to how terrain stars work with defense and hitpoints as you know, a CO power strike against a 6 HP unit on 3 stars has about a 1.8x defense bonus, where a 10 HP unit on 3 stars has a 30% defense bonus., so applying your 10% FP on round 2 against the potentially 18% defense increased carrier is way more efficient than applying it against the carrier at full HP
Hey Mangs you remember when you made a Fire Emblem rom hacking guide? Can you do one for Advance Wars? I have a fun idea of making a game with the TF2 characters, but I don't know what to do.
Hi Mangs, I just had an interesting match on AWBW against a player how has a 23-0-0 league profile and even on live queue is pretty strong Its a Von Bolt vs Max HF game on Love Supremacies with BongoBanjo vs Just_SimSim and also pretty quick. since its ending with an HQ cap it might be interesting to cast, even though its not too high rated
Your big mistake was not matching the battle copter spam, honestly. Jess copters are still usable, and honestly the only thing holding lash back from being a hard t2 CO is that her air units dont receive the bonuses from terrain like Kindle and Jake do, in my opinion (Though wildly under rated in 2 comm & 2 comm fog imo, because 2 comm lash b copters hit the 120% threshold for 2 shotting city tanks, along with her ground forces rolling the day to day terrain based FP bonuses makes her an absolute menace to society with 40% FP artillery hiding in fog bushes, 30% FP tanks on planes which is your most common terrain next to cities, etc). But yeah, you were on a 4 base 2 AP map and you werent consistently matching the 5-6 unit count per turn like he was, & if you think about it in tactical terms, you're not only deploying 33% fewer units than he is, every single turn, but you are also throwing your entire ground advantage as a result of not buying copters. Dedicating 1-2 bases to anti air purchases means 25-50% of your production per day is dedicated to counteracting like 33% of his purchases. unless he buys infantry, which he can do and also are important for him to do, which you cant do in return because you trapped yourself into focusing your bases on keeping up with vehicles. But its worse, because now he can also dedicate another 1/3 of his total production to ground offense vehicles to be aggressive against your AA's and the other 1/3 of his production buildings can be whatever he wants; they can be his own anti air/specialty type unit, or they can be both infantry to wall and threaten caps, or they can be even more ground attack vehicles to overwhelm your AA's and ground attack purchases.
He was not that lucky. Its 6 out of 9 so it was a 66.67% chance to not kill and a 33.3% chance to kill. That is definitely not "extremely lucky" 10:40 Saying something is lucky is like a 1/10 chance. Like a crit in d n d is a 1/20 roll. Saying something is extremely lucky would be like 1/10,000,000 Winning the lottery is extremely lucky. Finding $20 on the ground is lucky.

Advanced Wars but every unit has Canto.
Langs is cool and all, but when we're getting Jangs?
Hey Mangs you remember when you made a Fire Emblem rom hacking guide? Can you do one for Advance Wars? I have a fun idea of making a game with the TF2 characters, but I don't know what to do.
mangs... when will the wars world CO's get their funcionalities?
Can I ask how is this played? Via emulator online? Got into AW through the switch remake and now I’m hooked.
This is on a website, AWBW.
Lash...My goodness 💪
Hi Mangs, I just had an interesting match on AWBW against a player how has a 23-0-0 league profile and even on live queue is pretty strong
Its a Von Bolt vs Max HF game on Love Supremacies with BongoBanjo vs Just_SimSim and also pretty quick.
since its ending with an HQ cap it might be interesting to cast, even though its not too high rated
Lash has the hardest levels in Advabced Wars 2.
That music is a banger, I know it's from Days of Ruin but what track is it so I can listen to it later
so did you do character spotlights yet for engage characters?
I trust in Lash supremacy! :3
whats the point of the carriers in the corner with the pipes?
Saw this game live! 😍
I have a question. Is fog of war not used in competetive games? If it isnt, why?
Yes it is, there are three game modes: Standard, Fog and High Funds. This particular game was High Funds.
When you going to release your ‘Egg Teaches AWBW’ and ‘Egg Teaches FE’ series?
Langs
wangs
Hey Mangs, can you make a video about Athena Crisis plz?
i had a dream mangs invited me to his podcast and kept probing me about why path of radiance is my favourite FE and why i don't play AW enough
Wait, so mediums are a good counter to neo tanks?
But why Is it red
Nevermind
looks like a Days of Ruin map, but no unique of thier buildings
I loved that moment in Avatar: The Last Airbender when Aangs defeated Oozai
Who isn't a Lash fanboy?
He was not that lucky. Its 6 out of 9 so it was a 66.67% chance to not kill and a 33.3% chance to kill. That is definitely not "extremely lucky" 10:40
Saying something is lucky is like a 1/10 chance. Like a crit in d n d is a 1/20 roll. Saying something is extremely lucky would be like 1/10,000,000
Winning the lottery is extremely lucky.
Finding $20 on the ground is lucky.
More liverstreams?
🥚
I would let Lash give me lashes any day 🥵
Flak is Tier 3 in high funds what?? Why?
Luck damage is very strong with lots of teched up units running around.
What if Sensei fight Adder in Jungle >:3 ? :

It like a 1000 Elo chess player vs a 1600 Elo chess player. Mangs stand no chance.
