I will agree that the episode is slow, but it still holds the attention. This is probably my favorite two parter of the series.

I wonder if Drew had been poisoned by a similar toxin as Angel in season 3?

I would argue not, but only because the poison seemed to be killing him fast and they needed the blood of a Slayer. But I would agree there seem to be some distinct similarities.
