Farmers use adjustable spanners (shifters) on tractors, aircraft mechanics should use correct size spanner

Can’t believe you use a shifter on soft metals e.g Jets. Shocker..!

Swaggerlot not sure but the Kitfox I bought has a 2200 and it is now worthless..I screwed up and trusted the owner. During the my first annual I found the heads heads a pistons destroyed themselves. Only 400hrs on it. Now I have a boat anchor and an 18,000 bill for a 912uls to put in a 17,000 plane. So I wouldn’t have a wish a Jabiru on my worst enemy. Lesson learned and my ass will be feeling this mistake for a long time. The most hrs I’ve heard of is 800 and many guys with stories of being treated like crap by the factory.

If they are maintained correctly they are no less reliable than anything else. Especially the later series

That’s a very broad statement. I will never own one of those engines ever again. Pistons coming apart after 400hrs is ridiculous.

Kelly Chapman I own and fly a Jabiru LSA55/3J with a Jab 2200 motor and it has flown me reliably all over Australia; as you know Australia is a huge land mass.
