    Love it, thanks. Mine suddenly stopped working and it is relatively new. Then I see your video says the connector inside might be lose. I opened it up an not obviously disconnected, I took it apart and reconnected anyway. Reassembled, volla, back to life again! Thanks a million ~

    Thanks for your honest feedback on this power head, it makes me glad that I stayed the traditional route and stayed with the srm225 instead. A lot of people are pushing electric cordless ope these days, and I get the benefits, especially for homeowners. But I think from a longevity standpoint, replacing those batteries in a few years, or electronics failing, the cost of gas is a fair trade off to me. My last trimmer I bought in 2002 and it still runs. Granted, I only use it about a half hour a week but I fully expect my new echo srm225 to last just as long since I follow good maintenance.

    Good video and a very fair report. I have the gas powered PAS and I find it very good, so I was very interested to see this. In the future, with further development I expect this to be a very good power head for those of us that will be using it for longer periods of time. No doubt for someone who might be using it for short periods of time it's a great tool.

    Very good review. I keep this unit in the back of my truck with a string trimmer, hedge trimmer, and blower attachment for the on the spot kind of calls. No issues here obviously it's not my main go to piece of equipment. I have the echo and Stihl gas powered Combi units so I'm well versed with them. You hit the best point on the echo trigger not being the most comfortable.

    I was all set on the gas powered Pro Attachment Series or an SRM model for clearing a 25x400 foot path through wetlands that includes lots of head high vines, plus 2'' saplings that would require a 'real' brush cutter blade. I noticed Echo says left hand on loop handle, since the exhaust is on the right side. I'm a lefty, so I would have to hold my hands backwards. I think this might be awkward, if not dangerous. I also held a bike handle model w/the cheap Echo strap harness, while at the dealer and it also felt awkward. Plus, after I get the path cut the bike handle model might be overkill for some annual yard maintenance. Echo rep did not even know that the units are for right-handed only, until she put me on hold and asked someone else. I was thinking maybe the battery model, but was concerned that it would not cut 2 inch saplings, so I checked utube and came across your review. Have not seen any brush-cutting yet w/battery model.
    Any suggestions?
    Did Echo change the design?
    Have you tried a Stihl or other electric brand that can cut brush?
    Thanks in advance....

    The square whip shaft rounds out at the motor coupler due to too much torque, I own a few of these for my business and have torn them completely apart to repair them also the plastic trigger breaks inside due to how heavy the trigger button spring is

    Same here. I only use as a supplement to my Stihl trimmer. I also only use it with the trimming and hedging attachments. Even then, the Echo 58v still loses power every once in awhile. No rhyme or reason when it shuts off or when it decides to come back on. Also, mine won’t run on the fully charged smaller 2Ah battery. It only works on the larger 4Ah battery.

    Does anyone know if the "new" Echo 58v has resolved any of these issues. It's the CDST-58V2AH instead of the older one I have the CST-58V2AHCV. I love it as a string trimmer. I want to get an edging attachment for it but it seems like there's nothing that indicates thats even a possibility except videos like this. I'd buy the new version if I could get it with an edger attachment that worked well.

    • @CopperCreekCuts
      @CopperCreekCuts  5 лет назад

      I received this unit last year and have heard nothing about new units, so I would think I am testing the most current version.

    • @Furiends
      @Furiends 5 лет назад +1

      @@CopperCreekCuts Okay I did some research on the new one and and it was a lot different than I thought. The motor is in the attachment on the new one and as such isn't going to work with any existing attachments. That also explains why the one you got was the "old" one because its the only one that would work with the edger attachment. The new one came out around mid 2018 though. I'm going to try getting the edger attachment just gotta be nice to it I suppose.

    • @CopperCreekCuts
      @CopperCreekCuts  5 лет назад

      @@Furiends Oh, you are talking about a completely different model. The CDST is a dedicated string trimmer. It doesn't have any attachment capability. The joint in the middle is to fold the trimmer in half for storage, not to remove or add attachments. The model in this video is the only 58v pas (for attachments) model they make.

    I already have the gas PAS system, including the blower attachment. I was considering getting the 58v Pas motor partly as an alternative and partly to use with the blower attachment for a quick cleaning of the patio when I might not want to fire up the gas engine. The blower attachment isn't technically listed as compatible with this 58v motor. Any thoughts on whether it'd be workable for light duty cleaning?

    • @CopperCreekCuts
      @CopperCreekCuts  5 лет назад +2

      I think (but could be wrong) most of the time if they say an attachment isn't compatible it has to do with torque issues. The 58V PAS doesn't have a clutch like its gas counterparts, which mean high torque applications can pose some issues.
      Depending on how big your patio is it may be cheaper and just as effective to grab a harbor freight blower and battery.
      I remember when I started I bought a 20V WORX blower on clearance at Walmart that would last 6 minutes on high or 15 on low. So not much time at all, but enough for one long driveway.

    Nothing but problems with this battery system (rebranded AEG platform). Almost impossible to find replacements at Echo dealers and the ones that you can find are stale stock destined for the same fate as the faulty ones, despite costing more than the tool. Really a disappointment on the batteries made by TTI - the tool hard parts are great. Echo is hoping this system goes up in smoke ! They are obviously getting out of the cordless tool market and focusing back on gas. Sabotaged by TTI ?

    The plastic orange trigger lever is a very poor design, easily breaks where it wraps around the shaft, especially as the plastic ages. . I've replaced twice in 4 years of ownership and now (3/2022) cannot get replacements. I gave up and cut an access hole in the handle so I can depress the switch directly. I would expect that from a low end, made to a price point model, but not this high end model marketed for the "pro".
