The unique NPCs and proper story is what really makes this game feel more memorable than the sequel. Also the small cozy map, really feels like a little town. I hope SOD3 will have some preset stories or at least a nicer feel than the "always beta no real characters" in SOD2
@@fatforlife8559 Heartland was kinda good, completely spoiled by the utter lack of follow-up on the Homecoming Trumbull Map. They could've literally just had Jurassic Junction be a guaranteed, very large enclave that sold a handful of cool things. But instead they just give us a trashed version that kinda renders the campaign of the DLC moot.
@@shushupyounaughtyminx4832 they did address this once, and they said they wanted to design it as best as possible for everyone's individual experience from the first game could be true. They said there was some things they couldn't avoid. But if everyone died in your game but Marcus, and someone else's entire community survived, they wanted the 2nd one to allow for any scenario from as many ppls playthrough as possible to be true. They said they realize that means they had to avoid mentioning what happened to anyone I personally don't know if it was the best approach, because many ppl who played the first and care about the story, had multiple playthrough that ended differently. So a little mention of them still being alive, or even a cameo or two with some additional info wouldn't have offended anyone I think, even if that person died in one of their playthroughs
I'm playing through yose for the first time. I tried a bit a couple years ago but was still too hooked on sod2 and sod felt a little off somehow. Because of the graphics, the zombies felt a little cheesy. But I gotta say it doesn't feel that way now. Yeah it's obviously not as graphically up to date, but there is a lot more to this game than I gave it credit for the 1st time. I see why so many ppl said that 1 was better. I personally wouldn't say better, I would say it's better in some ways and it seems survivors and enclaves, as far as relationships, seems more fleshed out in the first. The 2nd is almost like an addition, like breakdown, except like a remastered version with some extras. The main game and survivors of sod2 dont feel as engaging as the first. Though I definitely understand why ppl start to hate lily. Jesus, cool it with the missions, I can get to one without 3 popping up. I'm constantly failing one I can't get to
Fun fact about tutorial, before you meet lily and move into church you cant die at all and you cant get tired, nice place to farm some zeds if you want to level up your skills. Most people love the OG 3(Marcus/Ed/Maya), but on my first playtrough Marcus and Ed died pretty early, killed by pastor, Alan survived tho since he was away and did not kill pastor, so i got used to play as Maya and she survived for the rest of the game. So i basically never got attached to them. I did play as Marcus and Ed on my more recent replay of the game but Maya is still my fav out of 3, Marcus is OP af tho i give him that.

I'm getting a Red Dead vibe from this game where you wander and find people but more constant danger that you can't stop from a distance. No down time. Surprisingly compelling. Totally watchable. Great choice, Brian!
In order to repair cars they need to be in the parking space and you need a Mechanic then go to the menu and select the parking spot and you can repair the car from there
Now I understand why veteran SOD players were not happy when SOD2 released. SOD2 with 30 updates is an amazing game. I cant imagine what it was like at release with only standard difficulty.
Eddy Jones was the first character that died in my first ever state of decay run. he ran out of stamina and was run over by a horde... I'm still sad about it... after all he has gone through :( I really miss that bonding in the second part.
I hope when they bring out SoD3 they add being able to board up windows again. I missed that from this game. Hopefully they keep the close combat weapons from 2 and add to it as well, maybe add a separate skill tree for the different weapon types, ie bladed, blunt, heavy, close combat, guns, explosives so you can really specialize your people for different things. That way if you lose someone it actually hurts. The way it is now, if you lose someone it's not really too bad because everyone is mostly a "jack of all trades' character. Customization, I know a lot of people have been asking for it. Each new community you start you have 1 character you can customize ie. looks, BASIC starting gear (close combat weapon and main weapon, snacks, stamina item, no guns) and skills that would be your 'main' survivor you go and recruit other survivors with and the other 2 will just be randoms like it is now.

Also, you have a chance to find a special item on any search (not just the areas the quest outlines). Hope that helped. Great channel mate. Been binge watching while I paint Zombicide minis.
One of my favorite streams you did was with the increased difficulty mod on sod1. You had a norma that could barely out run the zombies and you had to take repeated attempts to get up a small hill by the farm.
This game has a real charm to it. I picked this game up ages ago at Blockbuster, I had a struggle too. After finding your channel and SoD2 gameplay it got me to try it out and I got hooked. Found my passion for gaming again and am planning on building my new PC. Maybe the hopes of streaming too. Thanks, and much love brotha! Appreciate all your hard work!
Wow, I started gaming again about a year ago and this game had the best graphics I'd ever seen 😂 I mean, they're not bad, but I was so out of the loop.
Loved the first SOD but yeah, its clunkiness compared to SOD2 controls makes it hard to go back into. Also, the Wilkersons share a lot of similarities to the Bondurant Boys. They were moonshiners during the prohibition era; there's a movie based on them called Lawless. Good stuff Mr. Menard 🤝
Some of the storyline is different depending on who you're controlling when you do some events. Maya i.e. has quite a bit of additional dialogue if you take her to meet the soldiers at the house. Marcus just whines about something then walks off.
Story mode for the second game is good, base game is good, but the daybreak is tedious. I do it for the talon credits for the base game and to unlock, but it isn’t good

Just played like 6 hours straight only for Marcus AND Ed to die to Pastor Will when he turns. Had to go to my journal to figure out wtf happened and where my best character was. lol Guess ill start another playthrough.
No disrespect but you should ask us to watch commercials to support your channel. This is a business for you. Maybe put a button on screen at the beginning, middle and end of streams saying buy a shirt. It's not disrespectful to promote your business. Godspeed
Never played the first game in full, the gameplay just didn't do it for me after playing the hell out of SOD 2. I really like that the first one has a proper story though, I wish there was more of that in SOD 2.
What causes a bad day for everyone ... Two mugs of coffee ☕️ with decapitated in one and 5 alarm espresso in the other. The mugs says "Office of the President" in Russian. 🎯 🗳 ✅️
Its so sad how much SoD copy and pasted over to SoD2 yet completely skimped on the story. They did a decent enough job in the DLCs to fix it but it really only brought the story aspect back up to where it was with the original.
Hehehe, actually, SoD2 ferals used to dodge too. For some reason, they took that away, so they only dodge when you're in a car now, but before Juggernaut Edition (but I think still after Zedhunter) they would dodge as soon as you aimed at them... so if you had aim snap, you had a split second to shoot before you lost the lock. If you didn't have gunslinging, you just had to hope you guessed which way they'd dodge correctly. :)
Can someone offer help and solution on this game? Specifically I keep getting DX 11 required and the error crash on trying to start this game. DX 11 is already up. And other people have had this same bug with the crash start up. But other places have broken links on the fix. Thanks.
I own this but haven't gotten past the first few minutes. My laptop is a dinosaur and it struggles to run. Gotta buy me a PC with at least double the specs of this thing. No need for super fancy Nvidia stuff. Just enough to at least play this with no lag of any kind.

I loved watching you play this story. I never saw this original game before. Much more realistic than the later versions in my opinion. You never went back to the Vet clinic to get a med outpost did you?
Not yet I’ll be heading back because we are low on meds
Sod1 was a different challenge💯
What’s up
Brain I’m trying to get a Xbox x I can’t wait to play this system
Just played like 6 hours straight only for Marcus AND Ed to die to Pastor Will when he turns. Had to go to my journal to figure out wtf happened and where my best character was. lol Guess ill start another playthrough.
Back when you actually had to save your stamina and couldn't outrun zombies...SOD2 you can literally still run even without stamina
Is there any weather system in this game yet?
THis game is so much better than SoD2. And somehow it even looks better.
omg state of decay heart land is the most crazy sh.t I ever play it just keeps getting harder and harder every day that you're on there
This game was a billion times better than the sequel.
You almost made that jump
No disrespect but you should ask us to watch commercials to support your channel. This is a business for you. Maybe put a button on screen at the beginning, middle and end of streams saying buy a shirt. It's not disrespectful to promote your business. Godspeed
Never played the first game in full, the gameplay just didn't do it for me after playing the hell out of SOD 2. I really like that the first one has a proper story though, I wish there was more of that in SOD 2.
To repair cars jst upgrade ur workshop to lvl 2 then park it overnight was way easier then find a mechanic lol
hey i'm playin this, u got 1 subcriber
Is that a clip of you dancing when someone donated a super chat @ 2:52:25?
Lol yes 😂
@@BrianMenard were you in the military
@@kyleborders420 yeah I served for 13 years
What causes a bad day for everyone ...
I had to repurchase this game! 😊
When u gna continue g? Will u add some mods? Ik few that can improve this game, it will add more realistic n etc.
I wish this was on ps5 i have wanted to play forever
Any suggestions on how to keep Lilly off the radio so much? 😵💫 OMG!!!!
No she’s just annoying lol 🤣
She's the reason why I don't play SOD1 as much any more. Too many missions back to back, then her on the radio all the time 🤦🏾♀️
Which maps did the SOD2 release with?
Cascade hills, drucker, and the meager
on number 2 version
Thanks.
If only AI would pack that .22 Caliber, 597 Varmint Rifle and take it with them to the other base would be good for everyone…😊
Omg it looks so old now :O SOD2 has spoiled me
so when I'm in story mode I can wear my cow boy hat but when I'm not I can't lol
damn SoD1 looks and plays a lot better. Thats just my opinion tho. Maybe others might like SoD2 better.
Play this some more please
check the mods on nexus dude get deacons and boozer from days gone its cool....sorry lol dyslexic sometimes lol
someone should port the 1st game onto the SOD2 engine
I own this but haven't gotten past the first few minutes. My laptop is a dinosaur and it struggles to run. Gotta buy me a PC with at least double the specs of this thing. No need for super fancy Nvidia stuff. Just enough to at least play this with no lag of any kind.
beca! lol
This game has only 2 dlcs tho :(
🎉🍬🎃🎊 WISH YOU AND YOUR FAMILY A HAPPY HALLOWEEN 🎊🎃 🍫🎉
