SHEARING SHEEP, 🐑 + RUNNING OUT OF GRASS!

  • End of June, it’s time to get the ewes wool sheared off! And it’s a loud day working with the sheep and lambs - the lambs are having a mineral drench, wormer and fly spray to
    Prevent fog strike - already had a couple of cases of it! Also discussing the weather and why we are running out of grazing!!

    What a lovely commotion Lambs calling mums and mums calling Lambs lol. Bet the Ewes feel alot better without the wool. Amazing how it grows in one year. Loved the video. Thankyou 😊😊 Lots of Lambs this year

    Wow that was a full hard days work for you and Nick. The shearer was great with the girls, my back aches just watching the shearing, those guys work blooming hard. Have you seen Cammy willson sheep game he did a very interesting video on worming with the people from covex i think it was, he learnt some new stuff that is saving him money on the amount he uses. Your poor ears Jo with all the sheep in.
    I just love your videos, so natural and very informative. Thank you for all your hard work 💜

    Love your videos as always, you both do a sterling job. I know you get paid a pittance for the wool when surely it could and should be used for so much more? Eg insulation, carpet, clothes, people that needle felt etc etc. shame you can’t do what Sandi Brock has done, I’m sure you’d soar in sales!!! It’s so sad when you hear farmers just burning it or using it for compost etc 😢😢. In this world of being environmentally friendly and sustainability my mind boggles why it’s so worthless 😢😢 you farmers deserve sooooo much more for your time and love of your stock. Keep up the amazing job you do both of you 😊

    Depending on the area you live, if there is lots of home growers of fruit and veg. Have you ever thought about selling some fleeces to them, as wool is a natural and organic slug detterent that will also act as a mulch and will eventually compost into the ground or at the end of the year can be put in the compost pile

    Hi, I noticed that you have a fine shed, full of basically rubbish. Why don’t you clear it out now during the summer. The timber and other items could be stored under plastic.
    You would have plenty of room to deal with the sheep and lambs where they would have shelter during the bad weather and most importantly You and Nick would have a bit of comfort as you worked. Getting wettings now will take it’s toll in later life.

    • @DaleFarm
      @DaleFarm  3 месяца назад +1

      I don’t think the shed is full of rubbish at all. We store a lot of wood which is fuel for the winter for us. We keep some machines inside and then a few bits and bobs we are saving juus in case - one man’s trash is another man’s treasure. The barn has enough room for what we need.

      With all due respect, one cut is enough for us and the scheme works fine. We don’t shut up the fields until May because they are used for lambing, we don’t use fertilisers. It’s a low input system and we don’t need to operate like you suggest
