- In this video, we'll walkthrough a recent personal build of a 60% keyboard I designed using acrylic, POM, and walnut. Only a little PCB shenanigans.

The sigh after lubing the "what a great way to spend a Saturday" was classic.
Honestly, the hobby is filled with tedious tasks. I wish building keyboards were more interesting, but 99% of the process is routine, especially if you just purchase kits.
Pcbway has been real quiet ever since this dropped
Lol I'm pretty sure I'm never getting a sponsorship again
:)
@@PCBWay hi there
@@75yomu Hello mate
@@hadi-- damn pcbway offered me 120 for 1 copy and i got the same thing from jlc for 5 for 70
Nice.
Want a purple one with your face on it?
@@hadi-- in a word
yes.

@@Glarses LOL i smell a video maybe?
u are everywhere? aren't u? everywhere where there is even the slightest breeze of a good value keyboard I realize damn this guy was here before me. Damn u good glarses, real good.
this is so incredibly INSANELY impressive, please keep this up its insane
Hey Hadi! Show us how to program it too! Love your style of videos and your brief humour ❤️
Sure! Thanks for the kind words.
DUDE you're HILARIOUS
Thank you
Hope to see more in your keyboard series! I'd really like a class in doing CAD work for other types of cases too.
Thank you!
Wow, I need to learn not to move pieces if I intend to use fast forward to cut editing time. Sorry for some of the nauseating shots, everyone. I'll try to do better in future videos.
Also, these boards are from June 2020. I should really work on my lead times.
I'd love to see how the software side of things is done- a video series from CAD to Software to Typing away at the keyboard sounds amazing!
Soon, I just need time. Thanks for watching, Gareth.
Hadi you da best. keep it up pls :)
No u :)
What happened to those old videos about making a keyboard pcb?
What happened indeed
@@hadi-- oh.. ok..
This is really cool man! Want to try a project/building something like this one day, very enjoyable.
Hey thanks, sviz! The kind words mean a lot.
I enjoyed the living shit out of this video. Have a sub, can't wait to see more!
Oh, and killer build. Love the aesthetic.
Hey, thank you, Xenocult! More to come soon :)
Can't watch yet (at work), but definitely just added to my watch later! Very excited to see this
Hopefully you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching!
I aspire to spend this much time and money on contributing to my (rsi and) pile of unfinished electronics projects and learn a thing or 2 along the way
No you don't, trust me
Just be happy and spend your free time reading
Save yourself
@@hadi-- how else am i going to justify all the random interesting aliexpress parts in my cart that I'm itching to buy
You don't, you close the browser window and step away from the computer.
didnt you used to have a multi-part series on keyboard pcb design? whered it go?
What's the thickness of your bezels on your board and did it bend/crack at all? I saw kkatano ( the creator of the Bakeneko ) say that he wasn't sure but he would go 10mm to avoid the risk of the acrylic cracking or bending. Thanks.
Just depends how careful you wanna be. I don't remember what the dimensions were but they're definitely under 10 mm.
What was the cost of the laser-cut acrylic?
Honestly, I don't remember. These pieces have been sitting around since August or September of last year. Regardless, laser cutting services will typically vary wildly in price. Comment on a future build and I'll try to keep track of the costs moving forward.
Hey hadi! What happened to your PCB design series, I could have sworn there were like 7 or so videos.
lol we agree on many points.
Yes
I love this channel, though can't help but feel like you might secretly be an long lost twin of Jan Misali
Maybe
how u put standoff in that top? just soldering or add some glue?
It's all in the video
That designing a keyboard series isn't coming back... is it...
I really don't get what people have against bottoming out. Definitely interested in seeing the programming and wood finishing processes imo.
Also, what watch is that?
Thanks for the interest! Bottoming out takes more time and places more strain on the fingers than just pressing to actuation so people usually consider the latter to be "better".
Edit : Oh, it's a Seiko 5 in green with a custom band, SNK805.
Cool build! :) Any chance for the case files to be open sourced?
Maybe in the future? The designs need more work, and I'd like to eventually provide the pieces as a kit to the community. I can probably get you one sooner if you're in the states, though. Please feel free to reach out on Discord.

You know it
A file two pieces of wood and a c clamp best way to make fine adjustments
True but not as fun as xacto pal.
😊
😘
aw dude i like hearing your voice
I like your comments
I have actually been looking for a firmware programming tutorial for a long time
Maybe sometime soon
@@hadi-- glad to see you back dude
very thorough and easy to watch video. thanks! one thing bothered me though, cutting towards the fingers with mr xacto aahhh. seems like you ended up okay though!
All good! Thanks for the kind words
what happened to the eagle video
Nice
Nice
Thank you
Hi Mr Hadi you have an awesome video From Treeleaf
Hi Mr Treeleaf thank you for the kind words From Hadi
Your old tutorials? they were great
Thanks syntax
Do you have anything on adding bluetooth to custom keyboards?
join the discord server in the description! :) lots of common questions are answered in the faq page but if you can't find your answer im sure someone on the server would be willing to help you
Not at the moment but maybe in the future! I'd second Alden's recommendation.
Hi. Any chance of you making the pcb design open source? Thx
The whole point of the channel is to get people to do their own thing. There are plenty of open source designs that are better and less of a meme than my board.
@@hadi-- such as which designs?
how do you make the screwless look?
It's all in the video.
Hey Hadi you should make a keyboard from scratch
This???
Hadi fancies himself as a comedian with all these jokes
Which jokes?
@@hadi-- they're all too good to mention mate
The discord invite in the desc isn't working :-((
Are you sure you copied it correctly? It's the same one on all my videos.
Nice vid,can you share the cad file?
No plans to release the CAD files at the moment, sorry.
great project! can you share .dxf file for this case?
No plans to do so at the moment, but maybe in the future!
Can you do a tutorial on how to do acrylic case owo
Maybe one day
I rather enjoy accented space bars and I will not unsub.
You heathen. (Please excuse me, I am boring in taste.)
Oh i know you you made the had60.
Yes that's me

Newer understood why someone needs to design yet another pcb for these standard row staggered keyboard designs. There should be thousands of designs out there.
If you are adventurous, need a challenge and want to build something new try to design a pcb for a dactyl manuform.
For the love of the hobby, maybe?
is a pcb for the dactyl even possible?
@@lach6093 there are couple of flexible PCB designs around. unfortunately none are open source
@@janakaone ah i see. i remember seeing someone make single key pcbs for the dactyl to make hand wiring easier
Damn, can't read Arabic without the harakat...
Meh it's nothing worthwhile. You can guesstimate the fatha and the kasra. Doubt anyone will correct you.
