    So what do you think? Agree? Disagree? Not sure? Let me know! As always, I also would love to know if I changed any of your opinions or, if I didn't, whether you feel more strongly about a certain opinion you had coming into the video. If you want to check out my most recent mock draft, I posted it on my second channel, which I'll be using for less-edited, more "off the cuff" type content so I can talk with you guys a bit more in between releasing these videos. Here's the link: www.youtube.com/@TheMoreJumboPackage
    5/8/24 Update - I had actually done this way earlier, but I forgot to write it in here, so I figured I'd give an update anyways. About 2 weeks before the draft I increased Nix's grade. At the time this video was made, I had Nix as a "Day 1 - Quality Backup; Upside - Quality Starter Within 2 Years." That was a 5.00 value, making him a late 2nd round pick. Since making the video, I've gotten to like Nix a bit more and his current rating is "Day 1- Average Starter; Upside - Quality Starter Within 2 Years." This increases Nix's value to an Early 2nd, although I've been recently considering mixing up the values so that this would actually be equal to a late 1st but I haven't done so yet.

      I found that I liked Bo much more than many analysts. Although I may have him technically graded lower, that is because my scale is a harsh, so I wound up having him over other players many people ranked above Nix. I think the Broncos made a good pick with Nix at 12 and I think his ceiling is a bit higher than people give him credit for. Thanks for watching!

    He is elite for a college QB with his release, ability to read a defense, and throwing accuracy. So to say he has no elite attributes isn’t exactly right. There are current starting NFL QB’s not at his level.
    Age does not matter at all. He played well at Auburn, but Auburn was terrible. There is no such thing as Floor or ceiling. Nix wasn’t pressured because they routinely faced cover 8 and other similar coverages. His passes downfield are elite in accuracy so the offense is moot.
    You have no idea how Oregon’s offense works. He had full autonomy. he’s one of the top QB’s in the nation under pressure.
    Poor job overall. You don’t have a sufficient understanding of how the offense works. He’s reading the safeties when you think he’s moving off. He’s taught to play by getting the ball out quick beCause it works way better than hero ball. Watch Phil Simms, Kurt Warner - any actual QB. Based on what you are claiming, there’s no way his stats would be what they are and their offense would be easy to stop.

    On my book, a QB ,who can pass on the run and pass against the grains , alone with these qualities is a top QB ! Simply, with these traits, it's extremely hard to cover ! I primary example is Joe Montana. He is at the top because of this. He is the only one that can perform like this. He is great to watch when he gets out of the pocket and scrambled to the right and leaps into the air and twists to the left, passes with accuracy. Joe's the man !

    And this is why the interview process is far more important than the boxer brief combine process. Several throws where he 'missed' wide open receivers in favor of check downs where he didn't 'read the whole field' could be explained if that's the way he's being told to read it. That's why the interview, where you sit in front of him and show him the tape and get to the bottom of it is so important.

    • @TheJumboPackage
      @TheJumboPackage  6 месяцев назад +1

      I would definitely agree with that - can definitely be difficulty evaluating QBs for this reason. You never really know how they're asked to read the field, which is why all the combine interviews are so important!

    Great video, agree mostly, but I think some of the plays where you determine a player is open or will be is likely to be a much more risky play and set himself up much more for potential picks. Also worth noting that current approach, momentum and score should be taken into account. I'd love to see even more breakdown on some of these plays from you, especially on his feet/pocket presence/eyes, as I thinknyour insight is brilliant!

    • @TheJumboPackage
      @TheJumboPackage  6 месяцев назад

      Thank you, I really appreciate that! In terms of self scouting, I completely agree - I don't often take into account situation / current approach / game flow because I usually go back to the film and write the descriptions of the plays after having saved them initially. This is something I'm looking to improve upon to help me create more accurate scouting reports because, you're right, a lot of that can dictate decision making in terms of risk tolerance (e.g., why throw the ball into a tight window when its third and one and you know the checkdown can get you enough yards?). More breakdowns will be coming soon and I look forward to hearing from you on them!

  • @Jeremiah-f8h
    @Jeremiah-f8h 6 месяцев назад +1

    I’ve already seen this story. It’s no different than when I reviewed Aaron Rodgers coming out. People were meh on him too, even though his ball placement and arm talent were like Nix. In fact, if you read evaluations, theirs are nearly identical. Not prototype size, average arm strength (neither of them are average), system QB, you name it. Identical nonsense. This is how elite QB’s go in the late 1st or 2nd round. I watched the same thing happen with Drew
    Brees.
    Nix will go top 5 and be an excellent franchise QB. He is at his “floor” now and has plenty of development to go. He’ll end up similar to Aaron Rodgers.

  • @bchristopher2270
    @bchristopher2270 5 месяцев назад +3

    When you say he wasn't asked to read the entire field and push the ball down field... which QBs in this draft were asked to do more of that? It seems hard to find a college QB these days who is being asked to run any pro concepts.

    • @TheJumboPackage
      @TheJumboPackage  5 месяцев назад +1

      Very fair point that a lot of college QBs are not asked to do that. I would agree - not a lot are, but it's still necessary for NFL success so it is always a weakness if they weren't asked to do it alot. Caleb Williams, Drake Maye, and Jayden Daniels were all tasked with making full-field reads on a pretty consistent basis. Daniels a bit less so, but in his smaller opportunities of doing so I think he showed a very good ability to do it (as you can see from my Jayden Daniels video). Nix had times where he was asked to, but I didn't find that he was as good making his way through full fields reads.

    • @bchristopher2270
      @bchristopher2270 5 месяцев назад +2

      @@TheJumboPackage Very interesting. I’m a Broncos fan and I think Sean Payton wants a field-reader. A processor who can go through progressions. Nix is being mocked to us often. I like him but his middle of the field work and progressions are the concern. Thanks for the great breakdowns!

    • @TheJumboPackage
      @TheJumboPackage  5 месяцев назад +1

      @@bchristopher2270 Thanks for commenting, I really appreciate it! QB evaluations are so difficult, because, as I was saying before, in college, he wasn't tasked as often with making full field reads... but there is technically nothing stopping him from learning. For all we know, he could become the best ever at it! So I don't hate the fit with the Broncos because I think it could work in theory. But I'd tend to agree that his processing isn't going to be where Payton wants it on day 1 and, as a 24 year old, he'll need to learn quick.

  • @ProgressivelyElevating

    I’d say being the most accurate passer in NCAA history is elite.

    • @TheJumboPackage
      @TheJumboPackage  4 месяца назад

      I'd push back on that point because he had such a high rate of throws behind the LoS and under 10+ yards, which are naturally easier throws to hit, thus raising his completion percentage. So I'd disagree he's elite in that area. I do find myself being higher on Nix in general than a lot of people though!

    @thejumbopackage if you only have 13 first round graded players does that mean:
    1. This is a shallow year for talent
    2. You're grading system is harsh (ie biased negative), and if this why?

    • @TheJumboPackage
      @TheJumboPackage  5 месяцев назад

      Great question! First, just to clarify, I had 13 first rounders year (the 2023 NFL draft). This year, I have 22 first rounders (so far). Second, my grading system is intentionally harsh. I do this because it helps me to better compare players across different draft classes. One year a player might be worth a first round, while the next year they might be worth a second round. I find that if I have a higher standard in delineating the different round values, it makes it easier to view players outside the context of just their draft class. Thanks for commenting!
