Finally someone actually breaking down the subtleties of the quarterbacking position. Everyone gets enamored by someone just ripping it every throw and they don't appreciate timing, ball placement and consistency. It really makes me wonder how these draft experts are actually evaluating.
I think the difference is more of projecting vs what someone is right now. Right now Bo is better and he will probably never be an elite runner or have a rocket arm. Drake Maye theoretically could become more accurate and process faster which would make him better in the future
@@luckfrmko678especially the teams that are picking at the top of the draft, that’s why you see so many late first round rookies making big impacts on playoff teams. All of the rebuilding teams go based off of a prospect’s future, and the high floor/low ceiling guys fall into the hands of the contenders. Zay Flowers would never go top 10 just because he doesn’t have that Jamaar Chase/Marvin Harrison Jr upside (no disrespect to Zay, he’s a dog and has a great future ahead of him), but he’s good enough that Baltimore can spend their first rounder on him & pick up an immediate starter. I think you QBs like Bo more than the field of analytics folks.
Brother! You should be on a scouting team in the nfl. I'm from Oregon, and a Ducks fan. I watched every game he played, and he is massively underrated. I'm also a Vikings fan, and if we can't go top 3, would be happy to take Bo at 11 or 23.

Like running backs are taught.
im excited that the broncos are getting a guy who throws with anticipation. in a division with herbert and mahomes you really get to see what it does when you have a qb who can throw with anticipation. Especially with mahomes he does it so well
hey there! This series is great! You know, this might sound dumb, but you should review tape from retired legends/legendary games. Im no QB. Its so awesome to hear your technical insight. It would be cool to know why someone like Tom Brady was great aside from the obvious, look! He wins! Like, why did he win? what makes him special? Plus itd be a cool way to revisit big games and see them from a whole new perspective.
Let's say this guy goes to the Vikings, if his ability to execute the Oregon offense can translate to executing a KoC offense - he's got a real shot to make a lot of haters look really stupid.
I know you’re probably limiting these breakdowns to the draft’s top QBs, but it’d be dope to see you do a breakdown of Spencer Rattler. I’ve been reading that a lot of teams are high on him, and as a diehard Falcons fan, I want to see your take on his game. It wouldn’t be a bad idea to have him sit behind a great pro like Kirk Cousins for a couple years. Good shit Kurt, love the channel!
He seems very cool and collected, and think with the right o line he become dynamic cuz he has good pocket presence, if that transcends to oh now Ima extend the play with my feet use that pinpoint accuracy and timing, he could be great
21:38 you have the reciever having a issue but if you look the DB bumped off the route and it shoved the reciever outside. Tbh id say that just a great play by the DB
We watched Bo Dacious Nix all year long two years @ mighty Oregon. Bo's a gamer and so exciting. This was not Oregons best game, rather the their worst game of the season. Denver should close on him
I've always said bo nix was a baller, even his time at Auburn, he was a rough baller. He had no help at Auburn. I said when he left, he'd have a Heisman year at Oregon. Dude is legit.
You should evaluate Justin Herbert when he was at Oregon. He set records for the number of WR drops because he threw so many dimes that WRs couldn't believe he actually threw to them.
If you're a team with a top 15 pick and feel like your a QB away from being good. Nix would be a great pick up. Either the 1st or 2nd most ready QB in this draft.
This is getting frustrating. @ 13:00. I love great, O-lines because they open up the playbook. Would have liked Bo to have let this play develop just a second or two longer to see how this coverage LB was going to decide between the crosser BO quickly threw to or, if the LB would stick with receiver #2. Again, he had time to let this play develop. I believe a window for wideout #2 would have been there for the taking. Another predetermination not letting the play develop.
The All-22 in Catapult, do they provide it or do you have to upload your own video? I'd love to be able to review game film in a good tool and Catapult looks like it'd be great, but their site makes it really unclear if they offer footage themselves or if their pricing would be appropriate for amateur analysts.
Good breakdown and unbiased. I like Bo Nix's game a lot. He's being slept on. As a Lions fan its starting to feel like him or Penix are on a collision course for Minnesota which I'm not too thrilled about. TBF to Nix I have been rooting for him to not land in Denver as they're a train wreck, but hoping he goes to the Raiders instead of Minnesota so I don't have to root against him. Talented guy. Honestly I think Nix has the highest floor out of any of the QB's coming out and is the most pro-ready.
JWalsh333 for sleeper. These breakdowns are so interesting. This is next level stuff that is missing from the rest of the coverage of NFL draft prospects.
I think this guy is the obvious choice, but GMs need to spend draft capital on Qbs with elite traits. His entire package of lightning decision making & processing, accuracy, pressure to sack %, low interceptions, TDs, yards, and off platform throwing ability, etc....is his elite quality. Hes the obvious choice, but GMs have pressure to take sure bets not what they see as a gamer or a guy born to play the QB position.
Scramble vs LSU when he was with Auburn. The 4th down play in this game that Kurt broke down. Hell, there was 4 or 5 plays in this game alone that would be considered "playmaking" plays. I don't get that criticism.
Watching Bo this past year he looked like an NFL QB playing vs college teams. The other QB's besides JJ {cuz of Harbaugh} looked like backyard playmakers. Those are the 2 I will be watching this year, and I hope Caleb does well for Chicago even though Im a Packer fan. Assuming Caleb > Bears, JJ/or Maye > MN....Packers will be fighting for Second or Third place in NFC North. I really wish Jordan Love didnt pull it together end of season, he isnt nearly as talented as any of these 6 QBs in '24 draft.
McCarthy he’s done snaps under center and has the best drops in the draft, he’s done reads, and limited audibles without reading those giant cards and coaches audibl-ing for him. I think Nix is better at layering his throws and more accurate, tons of experience for him as well. Nix=Purdy/Cousins McCarthy=A-Rod/Matt Ryan potential
@9:20 that is NOT a strike sir. Ball 'should have' come out as soon as receiver made his cut #1. had he threw that at the cut it would have been a whole lot harder on the safety to make up the gap to break that up. He essentially ran into the coverage by the time the ball got to him. Not a strike considering Nix is starring down the receiver his entire rout.
When I watch Nix I see a guy who is a top-half of the table QB. Not elite, but not a guy who their team is looking to ditch. He'll make $150m in his career, and everyone will say, "Wait... how on earth... oh, well, yeah, I guess that makes sense. Lot's of teams would die to have even that level of QB.". QB4 for me, and is gone by pick 11.
Nfl doesn't throw the ball down field nearly as much as college football. In reality his film might be much more accurate because he isn't hucking deep passes every so often.
