I had my instant pot full of food and kept trying to get the lid on. The dang thing wouldn't cooperate. I watched another video which was no help. Then watched this one, walked over, tried the lid again, and CELEBRATE! It went on instantly. I guess that "outcropping" part is very picky about where it goes, although I've used the pot a few times and never noticed that, nor had a problem. We learn something new every day! MANY thanks!

Ah, it's so important not to judge. Your video came on after another that I had just watched, and I just let it play.. During the first part, about turning the lid on the correct position, my husband and I looked at each other. OF COURSE we knew how to close it (we've owned it for 4 years, after all). Then came the second part, when you started talking about it being difficult to close. 😐 I just had this problem the other day, when I had to press down on the lid a lot to get it to slide into its locked position. I can't believe you explained it! I should never think that I know it all, because I'm constantly reminded that I do not. Thank you for taking the time to help so many people!
Awesome video to just learn the general lid components and how to clean and install properly. Of course, when I couldn't get my lid on it was the one thing that wasn't mentioned in this video. The sealing ring on the lid has to be installed all the way and completely or lid will not attach. I had removed the sealing ring just to check it out and how it could be cleaned. When I reinstalled it, there was one part that barely wasn't all the way in and lid would not attach just from that.
I know this is an older video, but it popped up and I watched it. I love your video, very helpful. I still couldn't get my lid to close...until I turned ON the pot. Nowhere in the instruction manual does it say to actually turn on the pot first. The 'easy steps to follow' says to plug it in after putting the stainless steel pot in. I'm not stupid and maybe it is a no-brainer, but I'm one that tends to prep things and get them ready to go, THEN I turn on the appliance. Like a crock pot! Haha. Well learned my lesson. I realized from the video that I heard the beeps of the pot when you put the lid on and closed it, and that wasn't happening for me, which is what clued me in to maybe turning on the pot. Sure worked great then!! Thanks so much. Hope all is well.

LOL. I had the same experience. Glad it wasn't just me. My regular pressure cooker lid can be problematic too, but it's never as easy to tighten as the Instant Pot lid. Well, once you figure it out. I'm still not sure I've got it down yet. Practice.

I been trying to close the f-king lid for whole day light time. ( 5hr ) Thank god your video suggesting that there's something wrong with a piece of rubber, and that gave me the idea to check the circle rubber that hold the lid and it was a little loose.

Thanx for the assist- I knew there had to be a logical trick to it. Although I just completed a Masters degree, I didn't feel like reading instructions-- I like being shown how to use the Instant Pot.
I was getting ready to make my cheesecake in my IP and the damn thing just would not close. Now I know why. and yes it's my fault. When I store my IP I put the lid upside down to keep it odor-free. so, now I get it. The float valve falls down in place, then when I try to put the lid back on. The float valve has yet fallen back into place. Lesson learned. Thanks so much for taking the time to CLEARLY explain this to me. I added 1/2 of a banana to my cheesecake. I can't wait to see how it comes out. Thanks again. Slow cooker Bill
