I was there an couple hours ago at the Macy's end and the alarm went off for a couple of minutes. The MT4s were remarkably quiet. Brookstone's system was going off as well and their Genesis H/S units could be heard quite a distance away.
The strobes on the Wheelock MT4s seem to be flashing faster than the EST Genesis Horn Strobes. I also noticed that unlike the last time where people were ignoring the fire alarm, everyone seemed to be evacuating the mall.
I wonder why they have EST Genesis ceiling mounts on code 3 and Wheelock MT horn strobes in continuous. And I find it weird how there is an EST integrity outside and a Spectralert classic outside as well. I know when I was walking around one of the parking garages at Northeast mall I found a Spectralert classic on the outside of the loading dock at Macy’s when I was about to film one of the elevators.
There was a dream that I had today on Thursday September 23rd 2021 early in the morning that had two fire alarm signals inside of the building and two signals outside of the building like in this video! Here's all what happened About The System: The building that my dream took place was a cultural arts building and the main system was an EST 3 System with EST RLCD-C Annunciators scattered around the building with one at the main entrance. Like all fire alarm systems there were 4 Notification Appliance Circuits (NACs) on the system. For indoor signals the 1st NAC signals were 2-Wire Ceiling Mount EST Genesis Horn Strobes in red color (Which we're almost in the video, but the ones in the video were white) along with Gentex Commander 3s in red color doing 2-Wire operation. For outdoor signals the 2nd NAC signals were Edwards Integrity Horn Strobes (Which we're in the video) with the 2nd NAC being the 2-Wires for the strobe and the 3rd NAC being the 2-Wires for the horn (The horn and strobe NAC we're also synced making the Edwards Inegrities all synced with each other). The 4th NAC signals we're SpectrAlert Classics doing 2-Wire operation and synced with other SpectrAlert Classics with the horns doing code-3 (Which we're in the video). All 2-Wire fire alarms that were on the same NAC were also synced with other signals such as the Edwards Genesis with the Gentex Commander 3 and the coding option on the signaling devices were set to Code-3 by default. What Happened: At around 10:30 AM on a rainy day, we were walking around the cultural arts building to see really awesome things. Then at 10:43 AM an electrical fire started in the ceiling lights but nobody had pulled the fire alarm. Then 2 minutes later the fire alarm pull station (EST FX-278) randomly activated as a ghost pulled it because it saw the fire to alert everyone in the building then the ghost yelled in a 100 dB loud voice and said "THIS IS A FIRE EMERGENCY, EVACUATE THE BUILDING NOW!" and then everyone starts running out of the building to the nearest exit with the Edwards Genesis and Gentex Commander 3s sounding but then its raining how will get out now?, but then all of the sudden at the back exit doors there was a big roof that will protect us all from the rain while we wait for the fire department to put out the fire and silence and reset the fire alarm system with hearing the SpectrAlert Classics and the Edwards Inegrities. At 11:00 AM the all-clear signal was given and we went back inside the cultural arts building My craziest fire alarm dream of all time that kinda related this video right here!!
It's still on continuous...jeesh. I was there when it went off some point in the late 90s-early 2000s in the MT wing. Quite loud. I was quite shocked when I walked in there a couple months ago and they hadn't done an upgrade to voice.
+coasterlover1994 Well, as you can see, if anything new goes in, the signals for that area are set for code-3, but yeah, the MT4s and ASs still do continuous. And I agree the MT area is loud, especially on the upper level, since on the upper level there's about 15 MT4s whereas on the lower level there's only 6. I imagine it used to be a lot louder in your case because as they've renovated storefronts on the lower level, they removed some of the signals and didn't replace them, which I guess is okay for the noise level, but still that leaves inadequate strobe coverage. As mentioned, this is the second/third time I've been there when it's gone off and all three times I was also on the upper-level in the MT wing. As far as voice evac goes, I know Colonie Center did an upgrade about 8 years ago and they went to EVAC and current NYS code requires it in malls, and it would be nice here, but I guess as long as the system isn't upgraded as a whole, they'll still permit the horns to be installed.
Yeah, I was by the glass elevator when it went off. That's about where it switches The higher ceiling allowed it to reverberate. Dave and Buster's appeared to have some sort of EST system when I was last there, couldn't tell what. Pyramid isn't putting stores on EVAC in most properties even if the building has an EVAC system. Walden Galleria in Buffalo has LifeAlarm/TrueAlert speakers in the halls and Wheelock speakers in the movie theater, but TrueAlerts or 2901-9838s in most stores. Some of the horns went up within the past year or two. I noticed Colonie Center went to EVAC for the main mall area, but Clifton Park Center put up Genesis horns when they remodeled. Aviation still has 7002Ts and EHS-DLs or MTs by JCPenney.
0:58 I think having the tape over that ceiling Genesis would count as more of a Fail to me. If you ask me, I think the installers should have just set it to low volume in the first place.
Interesting that most of the mall is eet to code-3/T3 but there are a bunch of wheelock MT or AS horn strives set to continuous. Guessing this is an EST system with the wheelock and system sensor SpectrAlert classics thrown in as replacements or add-ones.
+Gary Beltz As mentioned in the previous vids, most of the mall is actually Wheelock MT4s and AS-241575-VFRs (vertical strobed), which are set to continuous. You see in this video the areas of the mall that have been expanded and they have the Genesis signals. There's another area they expanded, but that area got ceiling-mount Exceders instead. I assume those are set to code-3, but I haven't seen that area activate, so IDK. Lately the alarms of choice seem to be EST systems with Genesis signals. The main mall system is definitely EST (possibly EST2 but most likely EST3, but there's no annunciators at this place, so IDK). The areas with the AS, Genesis, and Exceder signals have addressable SIGA smokes and pull stations, whereas the the area with the MT4s have System Sensor smokes and conventional pulls (most are Edwards classics, but there are a couple of Simplex T-Bars too). One thing I'm not fond of is that as they renovate the storefronts, 1/2 the time if there are signals in the way, they'll remove them and not replace them. There's a couple of ASs that have gone missing and as for the MT4s, the upper level has like 15 horn/strobes whereas the lower level only has like 5. The existing areas of the mall could use another overhaul...
+Nate Brown Because of the echo, you don't really hear just one alarm. The sound is loud, but not to the point where it'd make me want to plug my ears, although as you can see, some people did. The white Genesis signals weren't loud (mainly because a couple had tape over the horns), but the red one in the entry vestibule was kind of loud, as you can imagine, since it's in such a small space.
figures, Wheelock MT'S in albany. Yay!
So sorry about your friend :(
two outside signals! now i dont see that a lot!
The specter alert brings back memories of elementary school
and the EST brings back memories of my junior high
I was there an couple hours ago at the Macy's end and the alarm went off for a couple of minutes. The MT4s were remarkably quiet. Brookstone's system was going off as well and their Genesis H/S units could be heard quite a distance away.
+coasterlover1994 Well again, a lot of MT4s have been removed. BTW, you seem to know a lot about the local malls, are you from this area?
Yeah, I grew up in Warren County and recently moved back to the area
The strobes on the Wheelock MT4s seem to be flashing faster than the EST Genesis Horn Strobes. I also noticed that unlike the last time where people were ignoring the fire alarm, everyone seemed to be evacuating the mall.
I go to that mall sometimes. I live near it. I remember them going off in 2008 or 2009. I was only 6 at the time, so it scared the crap out of me.
John the Addictive the ones in my old school are loud as shit
I feel like i’m the only one that reads the description, I am sorry for you loss.
My school has EST Genesis and Integrity signals, but we don't have Wheelock MTs or System Sensor SpectrAlert Classic.
That EST integrity is an odd place to put a fire alarm.
Maybe the fire alarm was going off because someone pulled the fire alarm.
2:08 Spectralert Classic right behind where the EST Integrity is
I wonder why they have EST Genesis ceiling mounts on code 3 and Wheelock MT horn strobes in continuous. And I find it weird how there is an EST integrity outside and a Spectralert classic outside as well. I know when I was walking around one of the parking garages at Northeast mall I found a Spectralert classic on the outside of the loading dock at Macy’s when I was about to film one of the elevators.
Well, unlike the Wheelock MT horn strobes that are on continuous, the EST Genesis horn and horn strobe will only do Code 3, unless you cut a jumper.

like 2 or 3 years ago they went off for 30 seconds idk why I remember taking a picture of the 270 spo in the food Cort when they went off
what type of fire alarm were outside ubove the fire department connection
If you hear closely, some alarms are in code 3
The red version of the EST Genesis ceiling mounted fire alarm is rare.

Do the horns like smoke alarms half to be replaced every 10 years?
I hear Wheelock MTs & somewhere there was an EST Genesis. I heard it.
It looks like there were EST Genesis horn/strobes.
The one in 1:44 is like my school alarm sound but the sides are white instead of red also what store or place has that alarm in 1:44

Wow, that's crazy
It also looked like people were going outside.
Wouldn't tape over a horn be against some code? I wonder how it passed inspection
+JMAN123436 They probably taped them up after everything passed. Ironically, the red Genesis signals don't have any tape on them...
00:01:46 Cool placement
The mall near me has 7001t how meny db is a 7001t and its very empty in the mall i bet it would echo bad
Let me guess Wheelock MT on continuous EST Genesis code 3 EST integrity code 3 specter alert classic code 3 those are the alarms right?
yes
Yes
Imagine doing a night time fire drill at school I think this is what it would look like and sound like as well.
Are you 3 years old?
@@alexandersalarms5380 Someone told me that
Ewards integrity horns and est ceiling mount strobes
+Upgrader1134 yay yay read the vid description...
a combination of wheelock mts est genesis est integrity and spectralert classic
Are the wheelock mt's on high volume?
Yeah I know but was there a fire
a edwards genesis ceiling horn/strobe
Let me guess wheel lock continues genisus code 3 and out side sprinkler alarm enspecter alert code 3
I am so sorry about your friend
uh sir did your condo or hotel whatever the building in that location new york fire alarm went off again?
oh no!.
Lol
Was there a fire or was it false alarm
Luckily that all the malls near me have voice evacuation.
This mall can certainly use an upgrade
@@weatherdan882002 yeah all the mall in Portland and the suburbs have voice evacuation and no horn strobes in the main mall
bruh was there a fire or something?
Wheelock MT Edwards (EST) genesis Edwards (EST) integrity and system sensor spectralert classic
They put the MTs on code 3 as of 6/2024
How loud were the fire alarms when you walk past them?

That mall has a ton of alarm variety
I legitimately didn't know what this meant and I wrote this comment a year ago
I meant to put that
I going to edit it
St larant mall in Ottawa has Edwards bells est genius’s and advance horns and Edwards MC,s
Toys R use have intergity alarms
Crossgates fire alarms go off all the time. So annoying
How did he die?
+Quentin “Mod” Richards Suicide (as mentioned in the vid description)
MT'S?
Was there a fire
I didn't stick around to find out a cause.
Oh, the horror, the horror. LOUDNESS!!
John the Addictive sounds like both classic and advance alarms
I feel like this mall doesn't know how to maintain there alarm system
It's a mess, even according to technicians
@@weatherdan882002 oh for sure the alarms are always going off for faulty wires and devices there are countless broken and non working alarms
I feel really bad for shipcafe! why did he have to take his own life?

where are you from?
+firealarm man the Albany, NY area...
Spector alert advance and est genesis horns
Spector alerts on continues and est horns on code 3 and a voice horn outside could be the sprinkler horn
There are no SpectrAlert Advanced signals in this vid.
Is it a classic?
Read the vid description for the alarm breakdown.
TOO LOUD!!!!!!
BREAKING NEWS: A shooting has just taken place at the mall and it is currently being evacuated.
O.o holy cow!! XD
Is that why the fire horns are going off their est genisus and wheel lock AS I think
The shooting was unrelated to this video. The alarms you see are Wheelock MT4s and EST Geneses.
Est Genesis
continuous? My worst enemy!
GD Jakester's Real Life my worst enemy too
