My daughter used to live in Freiburg. It is a great town. You can get a bus to a cable car which takes you to a great viewing point. Unfortunately it was winter and after we went up the mountain it was freezing. So we went into the cable car station for a beer to shelter and the return cable car was cancelled due to high winds. We had to wait and drink more beer until the bus came to pick us up. We stayed on a great campsite in the motorhome in Freiburg. Cheers Mick

Ah fantastic! It's such a beautiful place, we will definitely return as still lots more to see and do, especially with a kayak 🥰 Beware of the Cuckoo clocks though 😂👍

Another enjoyable instalment of your European Road Trip, thanks for sharing it with us. The Black Forest looks a stunning area to visit and the roads getting there were so quiet. Laughing along with you Iain at the name of your destination and wondered if you would resist the temptation to have a bit of “Carry On….” Humour 🤣. The both of you are very relaxed and natural on camera, which makes your vlogs all the more enjoyable for us to watch. Look forward to the next instalment 👍

Looks like you had a great time, never realised how expensive Cuckoo clocks are. School boy humour was great and free dishwasher which I've never seen before. Think the best Macid's view we have been in has to be Monaco looking out over the marina behind the palace but yours looked much better on the outside. Cheers K.
Oooh would love to visit Monaco in the van sometime, we have been before but not camping 🥰 also surprised at the price of Cuckoo clocks, perhaps one of us should have researched it before offering to buy one 😂😂😂

We stayed in Frieburg a few years ago over Christmas, we went in the fancy McDonalds ( there wasn't much else open on Christmas eve) and a guy tripped up on his way back from the counter and spilled his fries on the floor, the lady from the counter came to sweep them up and he was trying to eat them off the floor while she was trying to sweep them up ! it is a great place though.
Ha ha 😂 that's brilliant, we did see a few strange sites there too but it's a beautiful city and must have been lovely at Christmas with all the little shops and eateries 🥰

Great video of the loverly Black Forest area . Looked a nice site and one for my list to go to , how much per night you pay would be useful on any sites you visit as it helps when planning a trip, but as always you are both great to watch and always interesting even in thunderstorms. Looking forward to the next one 👍

Thank you both 🥰 the pods had only caught fire a few days before we arrived, fortunately no one was hurt, it was started by a Bluetooth speaker that wasn't even on charge the owner said 😬 Really lovely location, highly recommended 👍 The model railway was brilliant, interactive so we could push buttons and make the trains work 😂 Absolutely loved it 😁

Thanks Steve 🥰 The travel card was brilliant, when we checked in there was a form to complete at reception which is then signed by the campsite and they give you a card which is valid for the duration of your stay and this allows you to use the public transport for free. We used it on the bus, train and trams and just showed it to the driver or ticket inspector when they come round. Really great way to travel without using the van or a car and of course you can then also sample the local beer 🍺😁👍

@@VantasticAdventures the weather is brilliant, averaging 32 degrees and clear blue skies! Couldn’t ask for more! We are now down towards Swiss border, Toptnauer, where we have found a great Park4night on the outskirts. Couple of days here then over to Prague - avoiding Austria because it costs too much and they don’t like my van 😳 Thanks again and wish you both safe travels 😃
Great video how much was the cuckoo clock haha? I'm visiting Titisee next week was thinking of picking one up for my grandparents.
Thank you Adam 🥰 much more expensive than Iain expected 😂 in fairness they range from around 30-40 Euro's for a smaller electronic version, the mechanical classic style cost around 200-300 Euros starting price going up to one we spotted which was 1,500 Euros 😬 Enjoy, it's beautiful place 🥰

Did you keep the Pop Top up in that storm? We’re never sure how far we can push it!
Yes, the pop top was fine, we slept up top too, apart from the rain battering the side it wasn't too noisy. The van was slightly sheltered by the trees but the roof was absolutely fine, we have only had to shut it once before in Devon on a cliff top in a storm when the wind was 60mph + but otherwise it has been all good 😊👍
Thank you. Good to know. We’ve not encountered strong winds on our travels yet (surprising as we’re in Northern Scotland) so good to know the pop top is fairly robust.
Hi Both did you book Camping Bankenhof before you travelled or just turn up? We are hoping to travel in September
Hello Gill 🙂 We did book in advance but only the day before, it was busy but there were some people turning up without booking and they managed to get a pitch, it's a big site and they had lots of room. There is also a site closer to the lake just in front but we found this slightly too close to each other on the pitches. It's a lovely area, enjoy 🥰
