Still come back to listen to 13:30 "People Are Still Building New Houses" after all these years. This sequence is one of the best pieces of music I've ever heard.
Ahhhh People are still building new houses 13:30 is still sooooo great after more than 11 years. It has so much going for it. I, and many with me, would love to hear a full track of that one.........
when that new chord hits at 13:55 in People Are Still Building New Houses, i get shivers - still my favourite synth demo moment in all the years on youtube honestly, just stunning
It is one of the most beautiful synths ever made. I'm happy to have had the chance to have played one. BTW, it's filters blew my speakers up! And those speakers were JBL reference monitors. So rare. If you can ever get your hands on one, price is irrelevant.
Dude you are one fantastic synth guru, but seriously 13.30?!!! Do something with or someone is just going to steal that. Hope you've written a track around a riff like that. It could go on forever :D Your videos have given me years of enjoyment.
I am in awe at how good this synth sounds in 2021. It is definitely unique and sounds different than M, and Quantum. It's kind of like an MS2000B but fatter and more interesting.
I will never sell my Q. IMHO one of the best (VA) synths ever made. It has such enormous sonic capabilities that it has only few competitors in synth land. If you can buy, buy now. Prices are going up !
@@callakracker Luckily I have a32-voice Phoenix edition. Unfortunately the Yellow ones have the fainting Nextel paint, rubber knobs that deteriorate and can not have the 16-voice expansion card. So honestly, the first edition of the yellow Q is by far the worst version you can get...
I had great success removing the junked-up Nextel paint from my blue Waldorf Q using the "Tub 'o Towels" cleaning wipes. They are non-alcoholic, they clean the Nextel while leaving the silkscreen graphics intact. Contact me if you want more info.
Just aquired a Q Rack and it sounds insanely good. This video doesn't even do justice (despite Jexus' insane awesome programming) to the live sound this thing is capable of. Despite what anyone thinks this synth is the opposite of "thin" sounding and can provide immense presence in a mix while bringing to the table an infinite variety of sounds which Jexus perfectly demonstrates. This ain't just a VA synth folks.
Haha! This goes so far beyond a synth demo. I'm watching it for the second time now because I was too overcome the first time through. Thanks so much for making this! Incredible!
This guy convinced me to buy a waldorf Q And I have no regrets! This synth is beast and the best VA even in 2014/2015! And the construction of it A big German tank 😊 With a fatar keyboard(the best version) 😜
As one who owns a Q, I somewhat concluded what gets lost on people is that it's not like the XTK (Wave, PPG) though it does have a variety of waveforms, and can sometimes sound like one. And while it was marketed as a VA synth, it doesn't sound that analog. I mean, compared to a Virus for example. You can easily hear it's a digital synth, with digital filters. But it's considerably deeper than people realize, and has such a pure fantastic sound that layers so well. You work through many of the patches, created by almost anyone, start to work around programming it, and it becomes quickly apparent this is an incredible synth, as this video shows.
The Q is a deep VA synth... very flexible and capable, with a broad sonic palette. Recently picked up a Waldorf Q rack and am impressed with its capabilities. It's also great for ambient soundscapes... here's an ambient Q demo I made, check it out if you get a chance: WALDORF Q - Ambient Drone Music Soundscape 【SYNTH DEMO】 Cheers and keep up the great work Jexus! :)
This synth is an endless universe. It can't do it all, but just the OSCs with their Wavetables + FM + Ring Mod, allow for an infinite scope of timbres; and best of all is that Q manages hi frequencies in a way that's superb even in 2016. Something a Virus C can't dream of (as much as I like other aspects of the C). The Arpegiattor is still avant-garde, and then you have the Sequencer to reckon with...
Nice synth, but, like all the old, classic synths, pretty overpriced these days. Guess investing in a Blofeld now, and keeping it for 20 years is a good future investment. :D
haha 28:13 is Madonna - What It Feels Like For A Girl (Above & Beyond Remix) xD keep on good work Jexus, every sound of yours is a source of inspiration.
Beside the Waldorf probably their coolest synth ever :) I do enjoy your videos and the sound much. Have joy, relax and be sound. Don't loose distance :)
Man I am loving your sounds and videos, thanks for the inspiration and laughs, those bighorn sheep looking into the sonic soundscapes with fright and wonder.... 😂 genius
I just got a Q rack, and this video had a lot to do with it. This is the best Q demo I've seen, and probably my favorite demo from Jexus. It covers so much ground! This is one deep synth! So many modulation options, and I'm just beginning to wrap my head around what the Q can do. This synth has a unique sound! The envelopes hit quick and hard. It's like an analog/digital hybrid, rather than a straight rip-off of an old Moog, Korg or Roland, which makes it special. Rip-offs are a dime a dozen.
the only synth i regret that i sold. i have to say the micro Q does an amazing job too for the money and size. i mainly have all analog synths now but this synth is extremely versatile, odd, harsch, smooth..it has it all. synth with a lot of character and the very best of VA. perfect for filscores, ambient, on the fly recording fx.. very nice
Sound is subjective, that being said, the Q is a badass synth, and anything but thin sounding. It has a big clean transparent sounding low end...as opposed to a more muddy analog low-end. It's treb can sound trashy in a good way. It's a great swiss army knife of a synth, and worthy associate to analogs that can't do it's wavetable stuff. And it will give some good contrast to your music.
OMG.. Are You Kidding? :O. First.. Love the New-Ish look! Love the riffs you used. But Those Programs... Holy Shit man.. Over 30 min. Of pure Synthesizer Lust.. Great Job, as Usual.. ;).
@keoni29: to create a mood obviously. I prefer this way of demonstrating a synthesizer more than the usually very dull demonstrations weve seen on youtube. This has personality in spades.
i used to have this yellow beast, i can tell it's a very good and special synth capable of some sick and thick sounds. interface is also very nice, also with the onboard sequencer. it's good for ambient and lush pads. i sold my entire VA studio to go Analog. ii now have an Andromeda Se1 Pulse, jx3 and 8p. i still might buy an micro Q one day which i had before i got this Q

Still come back to listen to 13:30 "People Are Still Building New Houses" after all these years. This sequence is one of the best pieces of music I've ever heard.
Agree and doing exactly the same thing
Fantastic
Me too. It’s beautiful
Yeah that part is so fucking dope, the visuals too, from Donnie Darko I believe
Ahhhh People are still building new houses 13:30 is still sooooo great after more than 11 years. It has so much going for it. I, and many with me, would love to hear a full track of that one.........
13 years later, I still want to live inside the People Are Still Building New Houses arp.
when that new chord hits at 13:55 in People Are Still Building New Houses, i get shivers - still my favourite synth demo moment in all the years on youtube honestly, just stunning
i am here, once again, re listening to the riff at 13:30
for years now I've ABSOLUTELY LOVED the part at 13:29. excellent riff sir. ilI love it.
The heavy weight champion of all synth demo-ers.
This is the world's greatest demo.
It is one of the most beautiful synths ever made.
I'm happy to have had the chance to have played one.
BTW, it's filters blew my speakers up! And those speakers were JBL reference monitors.
So rare. If you can ever get your hands on one, price is irrelevant.
God damn the tones out of that school bus
I keep returning to this, at 13:30, what a fantastic piece, so uplifting, and the imagery is great! Thanks Jexus!
+Planeshifter
Returning myself so often that it automatically starts around 13:30....: ))
+Tangent441
same here :)
Add one.
it's from the movie Donnie Darko, if you're wondering
yup that is epic....great sound there...
Dude you are one fantastic synth guru, but seriously 13.30?!!! Do something with or someone is just going to steal that. Hope you've written a track around a riff like that. It could go on forever :D Your videos have given me years of enjoyment.
freaking sickest demo i've ever seen. your videos are brilliant! great work! I'm now sold on Waldorf.
13:30 Great sound
14:12 Feels
28:12 Classic
13:29 - the most beautiful synth & video sequence ever.
So glad to know that I'm not the only one who really enjoys "People are Still Building New Houses." I wish the track was longer.
Rediscovering this channel in 2018
lunaranxiety Jexus never gets old. Every time I come back I find something new. His stuff should have a residency in MOMA.
best synth demo in the ocean of information
Those supersaws at 9:42 are so nice

The original yellow Q with keys is getting hard to come by as well. The Q is iconic in its natural yellow.
For whats its worth, The yellow Q’s can easily get upgraded with a 32 voice expansion board. But the aging paint is a huge drawback for aesthetics.
@@callakracker Only if they have the V2 motherboards to be exact.
I had great success removing the junked-up Nextel paint from my blue Waldorf Q using the "Tub 'o Towels" cleaning wipes. They are non-alcoholic, they clean the Nextel while leaving the silkscreen graphics intact. Contact me if you want more info.

when Jexus puts his hands on a synth he pushes it to it's max
really. those patches are perfect.
This guy convinced me to buy a waldorf Q
And I have no regrets!
This synth is beast and the best VA even in 2014/2015!
And the construction of it
A big German tank 😊
With a fatar keyboard(the best version)
😜
Wished i could afford one...

Always come back to 5:50. Damn, Waldorf really nailed it (and so did you!)
Playing so many styles..beautiful. I can watch this all day
The Q is a deep VA synth... very flexible and capable, with a broad sonic palette. Recently picked up a Waldorf Q rack and am impressed with its capabilities.

This is not a synthesizer demo, this is fu#&ing art.
This synth is an endless universe.

The Arpegiattor is still avant-garde, and then you have the Sequencer to reckon with...
Could you explain what you mean by "The Arpegiattor is still avant-garde," please?
+tziirkq I mean it's very advanced even for today's standards.
How? I'd love one of these things, and there's not a great deal of info on RUclips about it, yet all the videos sound amazing.
Nice synth, but, like all the old, classic synths, pretty overpriced these days. Guess investing in a Blofeld now, and keeping it for 20 years is a good future investment. :D
chakko007 the blowfeld has a crippled interface.
22:20 Second Bad Vibel :D
Great work on the whole video, Jexus!
13:30 onwards....Just wish he continued that tune : ))
donnie darko ;)
For excitement and creativity...this is defiantly better than some new synths out today..
Keep returning to this demo through the years. Fucking goosebumps.
Same
This synth is still at the top of the heap in my honest opinion.
22:31 Autechre- Second Bad Vilbel anyone?! :O
amazing patches and performance!
haha 28:13 is Madonna - What It Feels Like For A Girl (Above & Beyond Remix) xD
keep on good work Jexus, every sound of yours is a source of inspiration.
Jexus man, you're blowing my mind. Fantastic job, dude! This one exceeded every expectation I had.
As if the excellent music and patch programming weren't enough, you have to love the digital watch. MAXIMUM STYLE. Thumbs up all around.
21:32 the waldorf is like the sun and the sound is like the wind. I think I love synth for life. Thanks Jexus
Hands down the best synth demo I've ever seen!!! Had goosebumps at the T2 cover!!!
You are a masterful sound engineer sir.
Probably Jexus love this synth; 31:24 minutes of a demo...and a great perfomance! Probably the best one.
Even in 2016, this is the most impressive synth I have ever heard. I really know nothing at all that comes even close to this. WAUW!
Holy shit, this is actually the best equipment demo on youtube I have ever seen.
Their architecture is so rare as to a monster industrial revolution of sounds or the most delicate in nature.
Good to see that someone still owns this synth in a keyboard version. Hard to find right now. Underrated Synth
I love that you put a scene from Woman Under The Influence on this.
Excellent sound design, and props for the T2 motif @ 8:15!
Beside the Waldorf probably their coolest synth ever :)
I do enjoy your videos and the sound much. Have joy, relax and be sound.
Don't loose distance :)
The Donnie Darko bits in People Are Still Building New Houses (13:00) go so well with the tune.
This guy is absolutely brilliant. Great sounddesign and entertaining to watch.
Therapy. wiped slate clean. Stunning work!!. will donate thankyou!
Best synth demo EVER

Great thing for manipulations in the style of darkwave coldwave and all Synthpop !!!
awesome job with an awesome sounding synth man! best to you!
So many cool sounds. I love the stuff that sounds BOC. Amazing stuff
Your demos absolutely ROCK, dude.
What the heck... one of the best synth demo in the world!
I second that MulanMiller,
Donnie Darko is also my fav cult classic.
Jexus,
great mix here. very original! and hellava introduction
Огромное спасибо Вам за Ваш волшебный труд!
The White sheep bass is awesome (24:14) - thank you Jexus* : )
Terminator 2! Hahaha prefect! - "if a machine can learn the value of..."
i had one ... totally regret selling it .. if you can get your hands on one get it, truly unique in every way!
sublime! part 2 is better though, LOVE the CAVEMAN!!!
Still need dental work from when my jaw hit the floor at 22:21.

the crazy Mel Gibson stuff at the end is really inspired :-)
I waited soooo long for this demo !!!
trippy stuff man, I love it.. great synth
Patch 1, "People are still building new houses" at 13:29 has been on repeat for the last 5 minutes. That one patch is a song all on its own!
this guy should be touring not doing demo videos...fucking amazing!
love this psychedelic videos, and great thx to man, who playing on synth. He is awesome!
As always - great music - and a entertaining video - Keep it up!!!
Fine Demo; Jexus. love your songs. Thanxx ^^
the waldorf company thanks you for using properly their products
Brilliant introduction!
@keoni29: to create a mood obviously. I prefer this way of demonstrating a synthesizer more than the usually very dull demonstrations weve seen on youtube. This has personality in spades.
LET THIS GUY DEMO EVERY SYNTH!
My antidote for having inadvertently heard Ed Sheeran
Lol
🤣🤣🤣
Funniest truism
our ends justify our means is a fun little ditty. appropriate imagery to go along with it.
Hopefully a Waldorf M soon!
Jexus that was good!
i see what ya did there ;)
Come back Jexus!
i used to have this yellow beast, i can tell it's a very good and special synth capable of some sick and thick sounds. interface is also very nice, also with the onboard sequencer. it's good for ambient and lush pads. i sold my entire VA studio to go Analog. ii now have an Andromeda Se1 Pulse, jx3 and 8p. i still might buy an micro Q one day which i had before i got this Q
crazy/awesome patches !! as usual :-)
YOU are a Syntheziser! master of all!
cant stop watching this video for some reason. I was just going to check it out quickly
wow this thing is just amazing all around. HAVE GOT to track one of these down.
Would have loved to give JeXuS a Waldorf Micro Q keyboard, to see what he can coax out of it (as a sonic comparison with its bigger brother, the Q)..
Do you still have it? Try emailing him
I LOVE ALL OF THIS BEAST MACHINE!
