this plugin is extremely underrated for mixing and even production honestly. Adding a 1-3db of crunch to electronic drum samples really makes them pop. That and I often just add a clipper to stop any spurious peaks going over 0 on some mixer channels.
There's a distinction. Clipping and inter-sample peaks have an interesting relationship, as clipping essentially relies on those faux peaks in order to create its punchiness. Safe Clip is there predominantly to make traditional meters happy. Most true-peak meters run at 4x oversampling - which is vastly lower than Flatine is capable of - meaning their margin for error is substantial. If you're worried about ISPs, simply run flatline with high oversampling, and use the 'Output' in order to reduce the ceiling so that you maintain adequate headroom for the platform you're exporting for.

i love it! but i must admit i use it not only for mastering :D
To me, a guy trying to master for the first time, I just avoid clippers and uses limiter to only limit the drum/percussion transients and try to make sure there’s enough headroom. I’m still not comfortable with using flatline given my skills but in the future it’s in my consideration
Hi Ermin, I would love to be able to mix and master like you, do you offer training at all? Or is there an online place where I could get good guidance. I've followed Nolly and learned a lot, but I feel your technical knowledge is priceless and would help a lot! Please could you advise me on what I should do? Thanks man!
Yes, we've seen some comparisons based on fallacious precepts, using the viewers' lack of knowledge of the subject matter to draw misleading conclusions. Thanks for watching.
speaking of which, being too stringent on the "aliasing" might actually hurt the song's competitiveness when it comes to level, correct me if it's not exactly right lol.
L2 is a limiter and compresses the signal and makes it louder. Flatline is a clipper which shaves off transients and adds very slight distortion to shape the clipping effect. Doing this allows you to also make things louder by increasing the amount of headroom available
you can make pro l2 kind of act like a clipper (ff actually made a preset called "practically clipping), but it's way more complicated than just loading a flatline lmao.

EPIC update ! love every single thing about it!
Using the 128x Oversampling as a CPU Benchmark now ! xD
But can it run flatline at 128x os?😂
had this on in the background checking my DAW, then i was like how did my spotify turn on?! Northlane are so sick!
I might pass on this one and wait for the next version, I need 256x oversampling.
Yes ,128x oversampling is understatement:)

Hahahahahahahahahahahahaha! I'm completely dying about the 128x oversampling. You my good sir, are a genoius 😂😭 hahahah
I bought Flatline and I was impressed before this update. Now I'm really happy.
Always happy to see a new video from you. New features look great! Can’t wait to update.
6:32 for stank face
Love it Ermz!!
It's permanent while mastering FSTS.
I just love how you add 128X just for those keyboard warriors! Brutal! I appreciate it!
Thought it was the race sim channel, but as a Producer myself i watch both of your channels consistently
So good, Ermin! Loving this new update!
I just love the way you handle forum warriors! :D
Nice video! What cubase version is?
My 2 worlds colliding, Sim racing and Mastering, stupid me didn't know you had mastering tutorials!
How do I update it
I am totally new to this. What does this Plugin do? I can't hear a massive difference.
Very Nice! got this Ermin!
Hi , is this a plug in to master a whole track. Thanks
The new features look really great! Is the safe clip feature essentially a TP limiter or is there a distinction?

If I have Output at 0db and Safe Clip turned on, do i have to worry about Inter-Sample peaks if that wav track is latter converted to mp3 ?
Would you clip before limiting or would it be one or the other? Please don’t say there’s no rules…
Melda Production fx has up to 512x Oversampling
do you limit after the clipper? for more steady state stuff?

There's his Systematic Mixing Guide of course. Solid material
Join mail the mix. Has taught me a ton.
i guess you have indeed watch comparisons of your product and other clippers that are cheaper (or even free) that has crazy amounts of oversampling.

128 over sampling to keep those audio.. I mean visual mixers happy. Haha👍
What's the difference between "Flatline" and Fabfilter's Pro-L2 ? ... because it's looking more and more like the same plugin !

@@junkawakami3193 I’ll have to look into that but clipping is a different algorithm than limiting. I don’t think it’s actually clipping

Is this a complete replacement of ozone or other mastering plugins?
Wow.. it looks exactly like fabfilter L ! IT IS! It's the same thing!!! Ha ha ha
April fools was yesterday. Nice try
Imagine not knowing the difference between a limiter and a clipper. Nice try.
