Y'all are from the wrong era; as an "old-head" skater from the '80s & '90s, this song would fit right in on a mid-late 1980s skate video soundtrack! I absolutely, 100% mean this as a compliment, to be clear... Even though I'm not from Cali, or anywhere out West (I'm from, and back in Chicago), this song 100% has that very unique "1980s, California skater/surfer" type of vibe to it!
This song actually kinda brought tears to my eyes, thinking about my beautiful, selfless, kind-hearted wife of 16 years, who has faithfully and unquestioningly stuck by my side through all of my horrible behavior -never any cheating, or physical abuse...but just me being a heavy drinker off and on... Having a bad temper and whatnot... I reckon I'm a good man, and a hard worker, but she could probably be with a great man who is nicer and better-off than myself, but she is just as in love with me as I am with her... I guess I'll have to work on being a more loving, kind husband, cause she is in it for the long-haul, and God has been wonderful to both of us.
This tele sound... takes me back to another time
this song is covered by many as well, and I'm blown away by how great it is regardless of style, tempo, instrumentation, vocalist, etc. Just a song that always does it for me. Check out the version by Violet Burning. It'll make you weep.
The lead guitar is so haunting... song is sad to begin with, but the lead guitar pushes it over the top.
