I'm still trying to write/record a song like this. It's light airy and dark at the same time. Kinda goth Kinda 80s But still modern. I guess you could say it's an oxymoron. When you create a perfect contradiction, the straddled line of art and commerce hangs in the balance.
A. You can seriously hear the change in his voice, as in the change from Machina-era to now. It was all a flow. I don't really listen to the post-Untitled single-eras much, so yea. B. This is a criminally underrated song. A bad ass performance, too.
As someone who has seen the man perform live dozens of times, I can say somewhat confidently he sounds like he's just having an off night here. OR it could be this song was rarely ever performed that he's still not used to playing and singing it live. Watching/hearing him go over the machina reissue on Instagram /streamable he talks about how this song was indeed recorded live without vocals and the take we hear on the recording was an overdub done later. I mean, is this (asheville) the first time they ever even played this live??
His voice definitely changed over time. He started to be conscious of singing technique instead of just doing what he had done so successfully which was to convey emotion. That has been lost along the way unfortunate. But still, the Pumpkins remain my favorite art on the planet. Thank you for all the music
it’s true his vocal changed post machina billy always spoke about wanting to sound less screeching and more melodic he sadly takes the criticism very serious he should be just be himself
Always loved this song, reminds me of the Cure.

New Order might be worth getting deep into

I don't think he sounds that much different here tbh. I dont know why people get so hung up on this (not saying you are, just putting it out there).

I feel this live version is 100 times better than the studio version. I find myself coming back to this particular video many times over the years.

Ginger is cool!!! I love new SP
Her tone and style fit SO well with these types of songs
So sad they changed the second guitar arrangements
But being honest they were too hard to exceute in live performance
