For under $100,000, the Cayman GTS makes the best noise, in my opinion. The C63 AMG is right up there too. The F-Type's noise far too unrefined and ostentatious for my taste.
Obviously, all of you guys forgot about the fact, that this is a six cylinder engine not a 8, 10 or even 12 cylinder engine. Personally I think for a six cylinder engine this sounds pretty damn good.
The last year of the 981 is gonna be very desirable. 986, all over again.... history does indeed repeat itself. The 993 is sooooo expensive because of water cooled engine, IMS debacle and fried egg. Wasn't there bore score issues in there as well? 4 cyl subaru bullshit!
Drag races and lap times make for great youtube viewing, however for an average owner it is utterly irreverent if one car is 1 second quicker round a track or 0.5 sec quicker to 60. What does matter however is the sound, whether you are on a mountain road or just popping to the shops, you can always enjoy the sound of a car. This car must be the worlds greatest bargain, it has everything - sound, driver involvement, sublime handling etc. it even looks great both inside and out. Porsche are on a massive roll right now, they cannot do wrong.
@@chubz01 The new hosed-downed ones are literally wet-wipe virgins compared to this total beast here. Thank goodness it looks totally ahead of it's time too, unlike the Porsches before 2010 that looked like a child had a wet dream on a drawing board of their sports car.
What a glorious note! I work directly across from a Jag dealer here in SoCal! The F-Type is very popular locally. I love the sound, I here it 10 or more times a day. But the tone of sport exhaust on the Porsche could melt Titanium!
"world's best exhaust note?" is more of a debate starter rather than a statement, and it's certainly worked after taking one look at the comment section :p
hvf26 I'd take the car, because I could sell the Cayman GTS in an hour, while hearing that lovely exhaust note, and buy 20 hookers that look better. :P
Honda NSX's v10 prototype back when they were testing it in 2008 sounded ferocious. I think everybody should check out the clip: type in Honda NSX Prototype on the Ring. It's the very first video. Unfortunately, I don't have any specs on that engine but a Japanese video from the show Best Motoring listed it as a 5L 600 ps.
It does sound very motorsport like, and not too high pitch like most ferrari's are nowadays. for the money, for sure the best exhaust note, perhaps the best overall as well.
ah, my personal dream car in my personal dream spec. most bang for buck of any porsche within the reach of mere mortals and more snap crackle and pop than a truckload of rice crispies!
+AmineGhostDog I'm really happy with it ! Only issue is the space inside, where I got used to its small area for me and if I want to carry bags with me. The sound of the car is amazing as well! It's also impressive in speed and power compared to V8 cars.
Yep that Ferrari V8 is off the hook, i met a guy outside my house with a GrandTurismo GTS and i asked if he could rev hard when he left and he did...i had an eargasm!
God damn, I laughed at the title thinking the answer to that question at any given time is obviously a Ferrari, but holy shit. This is in F Type territory. I still prefer the more refined and metallic noise of Ferrari, but still, this is just awesome.
Sounds amazing. Just another good sounding v6, it's been done right. However, it still does not sound as good as my Coyote Mustang with boss intake and borla atak exhaust. I realize the exhaust is aftermarket.
Guys if you actually listened to him he said "best sounding car for the money" everyone calm down.
the best Porsche ever made, by a light year
After 6 years...still 981 for life 🤘🏼😛
wow that popping sounding is very addicting to the ears!..
Reminds me of old Porsche
Finally - a modern-day Porsche with an exhaust note to match the air-cooled 911 motors of old. Superb.
Not quite.. Sounds just as good, but very very different.
I bought one after watching this video. Thank you Mr. Catchpole

***** Didn't know saying what I like and do not like made me a prick. Did I hit a nerve with that F-Type comment?
ewt415 Yes. I think the V6S sounds just like a Jag should.
Yeee C63 ///AMG THE BEST :)
***** I quite like the V6S's noise too. I should have specified that I was talking about the V8 S and the Coupe R's noise.
Agreed. F-type V8 sound would fit something like a Cobra.
I love Henry's reviews, much more entertaining than most of the garbage you tend to see on youtube at the moment!
Obviously, all of you guys forgot about the fact, that this is a six cylinder engine not a 8, 10 or even 12 cylinder engine.

Best spec on this car ever, just perfect Cayman. Love it
Video starts at 1:21
My ears are thanking you for this auditory treat.
Thanks for sharing! I love the sound of the PSE, especially when driving in the mountains and have it echo from the walls!
The down shifts sound amazing.
Sounds amazing
4 years after this... The new 781 Cayman gts makes the worst sound in the world...
Disagree... the 718 still has a nice sound to it... clearly it’s not the flat 6 but it’s an amazing car...
damn bro which year you living in with 781 porsche?
you might want to reevaluate your statement lol GTS 4.0
The last year of the 981 is gonna be very desirable. 986, all over again.... history does indeed repeat itself. The 993 is sooooo expensive because of water cooled engine, IMS debacle and fried egg. Wasn't there bore score issues in there as well? 4 cyl subaru bullshit!
The new 718 GTS 4.0 still doesn't match the sound of the 981, due to the PPF strangling the exhaust sound...
Loved the wind sound of the 2 motor cycles at 3:33!!!
Too cool.
Amazing! What a car! I hope you can do a full review on it!
I came here from a review on the new 4cyl Cayman. The new one had really lost its way.
Nothing comes close to the feeling this car gives in real world driving
Wow that exhaust note is actually really nice. It's mechanical and meaty and it's just great. And I'm a V8 guy. . .

5 years later we are now stuck with turbo 4's. I think they can do wrong hahahahahaha
@@alecman95 what do you mean stuck? Those are excellent cars, man.

I agree, this is one of the best exhaust notes ever.
Is this particular exhaust(noise) an option on the regular Cayman or Cayman S? or is it exclusive to the GTS only?
I love the TWAAAAAAAA after gear change as the Rev picks up, very nice.
Now that top gear has kicked the bucket you are my auto journalist of choice! More videos please - Thanks

Henry, as a tall person how was the fit of the car, esp those seats?
gorgeous color as well.
The engine/exhaust sound amazing. Putting 911's to shame IMHO. :)
is that a factory GTS exhaust?
Very awesome. Such a balanced car. There's no need for a faster car for everyday use.
"world's best exhaust note?" is more of a debate starter rather than a statement, and it's certainly worked after taking one look at the comment section :p
I think you needed a separate mike clipped to the top of your T shirt. Is that a Go Pro doing the filming?
Tell me that isn't better than sex.
I doubt it would be better then sex with Madison welch
apache1234657 1 hr with her or 1 hr with a cayman GTS. I'm having a very hard time deciding.
hvf26 hehe "very hard"
hvf26 I'd take the car, because I could sell the Cayman GTS in an hour, while hearing that lovely exhaust note, and buy 20 hookers that look better. :P
I think it depends on who you are having sex with, lol.
I guess this is before the Cayman dropped down to 4 cylinders and added turbos?
Yep. This was sweet Reality before the greedy Woke Eco brigade started de-foresting and lopping the heads off all the Great Engines and cars.
To me, the Aston Martin Vanquish S (2005-2007) has the best sound ever... but that Cayman GTS is such a nice car, i love it !!!
i don't care too much about exhaust sound, i much prefer intake. keep the videos coming henry
Sounds awesome!
Best cayman gts video
overrun crackle by design? sounds very nice on the throttle but those overlap misfires seem a bit artificial
Great sound what will the GT4 sound like
what about the exhaust note on the e60 m5 v10, that car sounds amazing!
I think it actually sounds better than the new GTS 4.0... like it was breathing more freely. Anyone agreed?
Yes, the 981 sounds closer to the GT3 than the GTS 4. Possibly the 3.4 motors didn't have to restrict the sound as much because of emissions.
Honda NSX's v10 prototype back when they were testing it in 2008 sounded ferocious. I think everybody should check out the clip: type in Honda NSX Prototype on the Ring. It's the very first video. SevenW25 V ferrari are not high pitched these days. they used to be though
That sounds amazing. Especially when you lift off.
It sounds beautiful.
Nice job. Where is your Boxster video?
I sthat the same exhaust that you can get on the Cayman S or is it different?
the growling sound on this thing is the best car stereo you could ask for
I wonder if the non GTS versions (2.7 and 3.4L) sound similar with the sports exhaust optioned?
Did this car have PTV?
Is it louder than the cayman s with sport exhaust?
Sport bucket seats aren't a option in the USA. Why is that?
nice drive evo!
ah, my personal dream car in my personal dream spec. most bang for buck of any porsche within the reach of mere mortals and more snap crackle and pop than a truckload of rice crispies!
The current Cayman is amazing good looking. Maybe I will consider one somewhere down the road.
You're not wrong about that exhaust note, wow..
Lovely colour, but I think I'd get the convertible version with the PDK gearbox and enjoy the sound even more !!!
Cayenne the first gts?? What about the 924 and 928? I had a gts 928... Loved it .
P3 Gauges okay, and what do you want us to do about it?
Air cooled flat six for those of us who remember! Direct comparison, alot more character!
Video of the boxster gts drive please!
I think it sounds a bit like the skyline rb26 engine exhaust note?
Thank you!!!
Fantastic sound!!!!
Can't wait for my GTS to arrive here in Dubai in 2 weeks !
I have one coming too... When was your production slot?
Mine already came brother
+Abdulla Saad congratulations! I am about to order one, in Dubai as well. How happy are you with it?
+AmineGhostDog I'm really happy with it ! Only issue is the space inside, where I got used to its small area for me and if I want to carry bags with me. The sound of the car is amazing as well! It's also impressive in speed and power compared to V8 cars.
+Abdulla Saad thanks for the insight sir!
Good Christ.... that does sound absolutely fantastic.
That's a wonderful sound
Thanks Dude.
to me all it needs is the addition of some blow off sound from a turbo, and it would be perfect!
Damn that engine sounds nice!!!
wow that sounds pretty fucking amazing....
Until GT4 and Spyder came out. But gotta say this sounds very very similar to Spyder. But listening to the exhaust with the top down is otherworldly
Sound 👍
this sounds amazeballz
best exhaust note? have you not heard the v8 f-type or the v8 vantage?
I'm officially torn between this and the new Jag's now... they both sound so good...
Thanks for this short enthusiast vid...more please and a. It longer
I´m still going to say it! Track batlle this car agienst the New Camero Z/28 PLEASE.. :)
Lightwaight VS Power! Might be a close call?
Lightweight vs. Power? More like Lightweight vs. Tires.
The Camaro is NOT SOLD in the UK.
Bet they could find one easily in Germany!
The Camaro is not sold in Europe
Ya it is! You can buy as a speciel order!...
I'm in love w this car. Ahhhh!
No car sounds better than 5th generation Maserati Quattroporte!
The 2009 Quattroporte Sport GT S has one of the best exhaust sounds ever.
Agree 100% , especially the later model 4.7 v8
Jort Rinket i totally agree.
Yep that Ferrari V8 is off the hook, i met a guy outside my house with a GrandTurismo GTS and i asked if he could rev hard when he left and he did...i had an eargasm!
Wolverine is back!!
Is this a straight six?
No, its actually a flat-six. BMW are best known for their straight-sixes, but Porsche have always used flat-sixes in the 911 and Boxster/Cayman.
If you need to ask what kind of an engine a Porsche has then you probably shouldn't be here watching this video.
kz1000ps lol everyone starts somewhere, no need to be an elitist
kz1000ps
Relax man, he's simply asking a question. And to his credit, he did at least get the correct amount of cylinders.
Oh dang, you guys really got me!

One name comes to mind, Hellcat.
Sounds Mega!
Best sounding factory Porsche boxer 6 since the '73 RS
I would just be downshifting a lot just to hear that farty crackle burble :D
V10 powered cars have the best sounds... Carrera GT, LF-A, old M5
FOR THE FUCKING MONEY YOU DENSE FUCK
@@VirusTornado M8,, leave him xD
This sounds waaaay better than my Civic
Sounds good. But when the title said world best exhaust note I expected more. I think the F-Type's sound better still.
Proper driver's car 👍
Amazing
sounds like a porsche/skyline (RB26) hybrid
How about simply "Boy Racer" version?
