  • Dr. Jeffrey Rediger is a licensed physician and board certified psychiatrist who also has a master's of divinity from Princeton Theological Seminary. An assistant professor at Harvard Medical School and the medical director at McLean Hospital, Dr. Rediger has spent almost 20 years researching the factors present in cases labeled as spontaneous healing-the topic explored in his bestselling book Cured: Strengthen Your Immune System and Heal Your Life.
In this eye-opening, hope-giving podcast, Sounds True founder Tami Simon speaks with Dr. Rediger about his personal journey-from an upbringing in a traditional Amish household, to how he “ran away to college” and began a deep exploration of the connection between faith and medicine, and what is truly possible on the journey toward health and healing. Tami and Dr. Rediger discuss the sometimes competing, sometimes cooperating worldviews of science and spirituality; the unfortunate absence of curiosity in so much of science and medicine; lifestyle illnesses as the root cause of most health challenges in the Western world; his four pillars of health: nutrition, immunity, stress response, and what he calls “healing your identity”; retraining the beliefs that are holding us back; understanding and healing trauma; facing our shadows and waking up to our own inherent value and dignity; and much more.

13 gentle and urgent reminders from your soul:
    1. You're ALWAYS exactly where you are supposed to be
    2. Self-esteem is measured by you (nobody else gets to decide your worth)
    3. Get rid of fear: FOREVER
    4. When things are tough, change the way you see things
    5. Don't dwell on/in the past (come back to this present moment)
    6. It's only temporary (all of it!)
    7. You have what it takes
    8. You don't need to change
    9. Release your need for control
    10. Accept. Allow. Breathe. Deep.
    11. Remember where you came from
    12. Remember that you are not alone (not ever!)
    13. Remember who you are

Oh, you must check out Anita Moorjani and her story of miraculous recovery from terminal cancer. She wrote a book titled "Dying to be me," which is literally what happened with her.
But death is not a failure. It's a transition to our next level of development.

Thank you Tami and Dr Jeffrey. Found Cured on the advice of my primary care physician upon diagnosis of CNS lymphoma. I’ve read the book 3 times and have a highlighted with notes paperback and a kindle with all kinds of annotations. Reading this book ignited a fire in me to heal myself. I did undergo 6 chemo cycles. By the time this was completed, I had made the 4 changes. I’m still working on #4. For me this was most critical. My oncology team wanted me to undergo bone marrow transplant treatment. After lengthy study and candid conversations with oncology team, I declined the treatment. Yes I’m in remission and am monitored on a regular schedule. I’ve gone from every 3 months to 4 months. This journey has challenged me with lessons that I chose to face. I’m grateful for this journey and to all who have supported me and who continue to be with me. Aloha!

"Incurable" is a slippery term. Basically it means that conventional, allopathic methods which principally involves chemical treatment of some kind to oppose the presenting symptoms/disease name hasn't been able to cause a remission in anyone. That leaves open a world of healing possibilities!!! So incurable is a funny criterion for research, in my opinion. But hey, if using it as a parameter wakes up some of the medical establishment, hallelujah.

It definitely makes me wonder about him talking about sugar. Granules, you eat too much sugar, though. The granules are gonna start lacerating your veins and arteries are you kidding
