I am 71yrs old and started working with concrete at 30yrs old (+40yrs ago) and quit at 40 (about 30yrs ago). The times have surely changed. Could have used the power screed back then. Also we never started until after 8am. I live in Detroit,MI. Would definitely like the work these days

Great job as always Mike. Being a contractor myself, I also live and breathe by the weather and not only watch and read multiple forecasts on a daily basis but use doppler radar as that is the telling tale regardless of the weather forecasters forecast. Many times rain and showers or thunderstorms come in way in advance of what was forecast etc..
I'm sure you've had many surprise storms pop up that may not have been forecast in the summers etc....
Great job once again Mike !

I've been working outside for 36 years. The company I work for uses a local weather forecasting service. We don't rely on our local news or phones for the weather.

I’m lost on the wet pads, is it an actual pad, can you explain. Is it just a little area that was floated to elevation? If so, how does the trowel not sink? I’m new to concrete, i’m more of a metals guy.

Could you show or direct me to any of your videos on safe rooms/fallout shelters? What do they do with excess material left in the trucks when you are done?

Yo duder, I randomly clicked on one of your videos and then ended up here. You seem like a cool old school man. I watched several of your videos throughout the years... done a handful of DIY cement projects. Most turned out okay-ish. Definitely an art / skill which requires knowledge and time. But there's something really enjoyable about making stuff with cement. Concrete, cement-all, mortar, etc. I especially like the Quik Wall by Quikrete. Has the fibers in it and sticks to horizontal surface pretty well.
Any ideas to "pretty up" cracks in cement? I was thinking about trying to cut crack with diamond blade and then filling with crack filler... in particular, I have some cracks in the concrete which I put between the walkout basement wall and the trench drain, like 4" wide by 16'... I made rookie mistake of not putting any relief cuts or expansion joints and 2 or 3 cracks formed.
    West side suburb of CLE.

I crush concrete for a living, and I definitely wouldn’t want broken pieces of concrete with all that pipe stuck on the bottom… great video!

I got absolutely smashed by the rain the other day pouring a house slab. I live on the Big island of Hawaii and the weather here can be unforgiving when it comes to the rain.
