While in Germany, Cory visited the Aqua Lounge - a beautiful fish store and aquascaping gallery that the owner started in the side of his home. The entrance has several couches so that you can relax and get inspired by the many planted aquariums, both large and nano sized. The center island has lots of aquascaping rocks and driftwood with a staging area for you to pick your favorite hardscape. Furthermore, the store sells aquarium equipment, plants, fish, and other products. Definitely a very neat place that you should visit if you're in the area.

Does the co-op stand for worker cooperative?
Very cool! TY for sharing. I like that there are comfortable places to sit down & take it all in. Those planted tanks are sweet!
I loved the lounge areas! Not that I'd ever sit there --- I'm too shy -- but it's cool anyway.
I love how he doesn't only talk about his fish store but talks about other people's fish stores too
He knows he can't keep the hobby alive alone.
Cory is the plug 🔌
He loves to shine a light on other peoples great work as well as his own 👏🏽
We gotta make this hobby more mainstream so we can have stores like this.
That might also make more information mainstream and cut down on things like people putting bettas in vases and thinking its fine.
@@lloyda2025 yup. Pricing on a lot of stuff would probably go down too.
Maybe you need stores like this to make it more mainstream?
Hen or the egg... here in Germany we had proper stores for ages, so I can't tell you exactly what came first.
What I can tell you is that this hobby has been popular in Germany for 150+ years.
If I had a house and not an apartment I'd totally make a section just for visitors / a little store.
No kidding. European fresh water/planted aquarium stores are great comparing to what we have here which, with a few exceptions, is mostly nothing.
We are so far behind here in America when it comes to the aquarium hobby. I hope we catch up soon. I'd love to be able to find a store like this or like the Aquarium Gardens stores in GB. Instead I'm stuck with PS and PC.
I have two LFS’s near me. Both carry fish that the big box stores do not carry, so that’s cool. But one is very small, and most of the fish there are overpriced to the point of being ridiculous. I mean, they have golden wonder killifish priced at $24.99. For a 3 inch juvenile that sells for $7 at any other store? Crazy. They had black neons for $10 apiece. Nuts. I mean, I suppose it encourages people to take better care of them, but it really just seems like they are clueless.
My other store is absolutely awesome. They have a great variety of plants, fish, spider wood and rocks, and various equipment and accessories. Their tanks and fish all look healthy and clean. Last time I was there I got the last 8 dwarf rasboras they had for $3 apiece and all are very healthy.
Pretty much every country with any sort of aquarium fishkeeping scene are way more knowledgeable than us in the US. I travel frequently to Germany, Japan, and Hong Kong for work. I've befriended some fish store owners (I speak German and Mandarin) and have learned so much. It's always such a joke when there are videos of tours of fish stores in Germany/Japan/HK (and China/Thailand/etc) and you see a bunch of Americans commenting how they're "doing it wrong" and how they're "abusing the fish".
Americans are so embarrassing.
I came for the long tank and I wasn't disappointed.... 10'+ is a lot of aquarium and it looks great!
I've got an 8' in my living room and I love watching the fish get a chance to school or shoal and get some speed going before they turn and flit away.
OMGosh, 10 seconds in, what are those things on the coffee table? I think they're called books! 😎Ha! 😄Thanks for the tour. I thought his cory fish looked healthy and happy 👍
So happy to see appreciation for those stones. My 1.2 meter tank is a semi-river system with those stones on the flow side, hard scape up the middle of the tank, and the stones transition into red sand as the water flows around the corner and calms down.
This store was very peaceful, you did a great job capturing that here.
So cool! I can't imagine how much time and effort it takes to maintain so many gorgeous aquascapes. I wonder if many people go just to "lounge" and tie up associates trying to serve customers?
Fantastic. Thank you for sharing things that many of us will never see in person! Beautiful. - Little Bobby
I can watch a video like this for hours.
It look's like my living room! All I would need is my little Pomeranian and a mug of coffee, I would be set for life. Germany has always been ahead of us in the fish world. What town did you say it was in? I would have to live between their and Hamburg where the largest model railway is. I would need a Home Depot on the corner. Thanks for sharing Cory.
It is in Höheinöd near Kaiserslautern/Pirmasens.
I love to go along on store tours keep them coming🌿🐟✌️
I love smooth black pebble substrates! I used to have them in all of my tanks before I started using fluorite "dark." I used a brand from Chewy, and then I sprinkled in their jade color as well for interest. Kinda like the salt and pepper sand vibe.
Thanks for the walk around in the Aqua Lounge...
I think Cory liked the flat little stones ! Thank you for sharing this video with us.
Wow! Gorgeous store. My favorite part is the large tank with all that buce.
Hi Cory. Thank you for traveling and making your followers beneficiaries of your observations. I am a fan of your work.
What are the fish at 22 seconds into the video? Obviously, they are large enough not to be a meal for the angelfish. I have a 75-gallon with six discus.
I think those are Blackline Tail Tetras.
Cool place! Love the setup with the couches so you can chill and soak it all in! Very relaxing!
I live in germany and i never heard of the aqua lounge, its now in my to-go list
Yeah that is the only spot to be in my opinion that and the other Awesome store , oh God what about the one place ....Incredible !
Which reminded me there's another one in the market area, best selection of fish , food , the prices were Insanely cheap = Germany 🇩🇪 it's the best for tropical fishkeepers and the 2nd best for Aquascapers. Thanks to Amazon the 🇺🇸 will make it work and we have the World's Best Aquarium Co 🐌p
I've been keeping fish for 55 years now and Germany has always been way a head of us. I like Hans Discuss, fantastic fish raised in harder and more alkaline water.
Do you know where this store is? I can't find it on google maps... I wanna visit next week.
nvm i found it, Aqualounge, Bitscher Str. 5b, 66989 Höheinöd, Duitsland
@@dvd5542 i was also trying to find where it is and i live in niedersachsen
That is definitely goals…one day 😅
Amazing store, and an excellent tour! Thank you, Cory, for taking us with you into these aquatic gems 💎. 😁
I would love to lounge in there. Thank you for the visit ☀️
I am now discontent with my 2x 20 gallon longs. I now want a single 15 foot-long tank... Thanks a lot.
Wow. I could live in this store. I love the lounge concept ❤️🇦🇺
Awesome vid thanks for taking us with you!!
amazing its just so chill as well, not just about making money but a real center of arts
Planted tank GOALS!! What a great store.
My favorite thing ate those GORGEOUS crinums!!
What an awesome space to lounge & enjoy the hobby. Definitely my kind of store. 🌱
wow, i just found out this store exists!
i live about 30 minutes from there, definitely gonna check them out!
I LOVE those little flat stones!! I want some for my 30 gal but I have not been able to find any like it...
This is so beautiful and awesome! I actually know of one store in the states that's relatively similar to this. Aqualab aquaria in San Jose was a super cool spot to go when I lived there a couple years ago
So grateful for the transcript option....I can go back and figure out what plant you mentioned
Thanks Cory for showing us how other folks do it.
What a awesome fish store!! Another great video from Aquarium Co-Op
As one of the worlds leading Aquarium Co Op amateur video aficionado's I enjoyed the cozy amateur feel of this video, very 2016-esque
And those Angels were lovely
Great to have you post !
Very impressive store! Thank you for sharing this with us.
Gorgeous tank!! I also enjoy the nanos. Thanks for sharing.
This is amazing. That water must be fantastic for these fish!
This series legitimately helped inspire me to learn German so I can at least go visit someday haha, such amazing stores!
Very nice Aqua Lounge tour, awesome planted setups, thanks for the vid!
That long tank is amazing . I wish we didn’t make tanks bigger but longer instead . Fish could get some serious swimming ! Angelfish over $40 each , holy cow!!
I am moving soon to Germany, and where I live at the moment, we are so limited with this hobby, not a lot of stuff available. The hobby here is almost dead, and I cannot wait to live in Germany, I will make so many aquariums man!
Cool video!!! Looks awesome 💚💚💚
Wow... Amazing for price the fish...
Neon cardinal for €4 😁😁
Love Aquarium Co Op!
Love the flat pebbles too, will have to start looking for some.
Love this shop. What a dreamy place.
The pebbles very much look like Welsh state.
That was extremely impressive.
Hey Cory, next time you are in Germany maby check out 'Aquarium Rößler' in a small town called Soest. It has amazing display tanks in both fresh and saltwater!
Yes when we lived in Germany a lot of people had a small room in the front of your house usually with two entrances one to the house and one to the shop lived above the shop but most of them just had one room in their house that was a little store and it didn’t have to be on the main road it could be anywhere in any neighborhood I don’t think they would let us do that in America
It depends on the zoning
The flat smooth pebble looks amazing.! I am now on the hunt for them!
I tried the dollar tree .I found black flat stones not all perfectly round pretty cool but they lack the definition of being a Riverstone without the different colors it’s just not as appealing for $1.25 I guess I was happy you can always use in a planter lol I haven’t seen those flat river like stones anywhere I even checked at Michael’s
I wish I could afford to get back in the keeping of Tropical fish.I live in Southern California in a single wide mobile home and it is in the mid 90`s next week it will be in triple digits .
Damn I really need to get a big tank again in the future.
I gonna fill it with plants and only put small fish in it (different types of tetra)
Maybe something like Keyhole cichlids as kinda feature fish. Also corydoras ^^
That's a gorgeous store, and I'd happily live onsite. Unfortunately, that style store wouldn't do very well in general in the U.S. unless it was part of an old-town restoration neighborhood project. I lived in a neighborhood like that a few years back; it would succeed very well there.
The good smooth rocks grow algae really nicely 👌 so if you have shrimp or smaller catfish like corys or algae eaters, they're perfect for the tank. The fish will eat the algae constantly
Watching from London 🇬🇧
Awesome video! I was just telling my wife how I didn’t like the flat stones but after this video they gave me a different view on how to use them. 👍also glad the dude does not live In The warehouse lol a lot of comfy looking couches there 🤣 lol
Gorgeous!
If u ever come across portugal visit aquaeden, small but well worth it store
Awesome place! Wish I could figure out how to get my plants to pearl like that. Mine are living and growing but they've never pearled like that, maybe some day...
What are those schooling fish at 0:22 ? They are amazing! Never seen anything like that before.
I wonder why we don't find little shops like this in the US? Probably something to do with zoning or something - I would totally live in a fish store!
If you come to the uk check out the aquatic store Bristol looks small from the outside but is like a Tardis anything and everything you can think of or need will be there and they will order in any size and custom size tanks for customer requests they have also been in top 10 and top 2 in the UK for 10+ years as voted for in practical fish keeping magazine
Some amazing tanks.
The small flat stones were a nice touch. What company was selling them?
Looks great
What a tease!!! Our LFS’ here on Maui have like 0.05% of this selection. Weather it’s plants, tanks, lights, substrate, fish, shrimp, etc… you just don’t see this stuff here:(. Gotta special order (if it’s legal) and pay a million dolllars for shipping lol.
amazing store
LFS in residential area isn't that uncommon in European cities. Such is the case with my favourite LFS: Half of the building is pub, half of it LFS. Adjacent building some other business, but all around it family houses. I live in Brno, Czech republic (neighbouring country of Germany).
AquaLounge on the other hand is pretty unique. It's more like a gallery to visit, which is cool.
Its a miracle you didnt end up in some of the worst stores over here. Yes there are prime examples but there are also stores like some Hellweg and Hornbach over here which are simply nasty and horrible regarding fish and plants etc.
Very interesting store. Thanks for sharing!
That is one long tank I wished I had the space and money for one :(
Lovely.
Beautiful. When I float my stamp plants they do not grow straight like the one in the video it tends to Curl, but I will try it again.
What was the came of the purple tetra at 5:40? Sounds like Kerry? Not seen them before and they looked lovely.
looks to be a color variant of an emperor tetra, based on a quick google search
Chris Lukhaup sent me some beautiful shrimp posters a few years ago.😊
neat little store.
Great video
You need to go to Green Aqua in Budapest, Hungary. Such an incredible place!!
I’ve, been and filmed it already. It’s an incredible store also.
@@AquariumCoop If you still have time to spend in Europe, consider going to the Czech Republic. This is the land where many of these fish are bred. And prices there are much lower than in Germany, a neontetra can be found at 9 czech crowns, which is 0,37 € ... there is an interesting fish trade in Prague where local breeders sell their fish and plants. this is as "Back to the roots" as it can get. Thank you for your videos! ))
Cool Place👍😁
Hi Cory, lovely store. It's always interesting to see how other countries aquariun store . I'm in Australia an i was browsing your online store cause it has a lot of aquarium tips. I noticed at bottom of store page it showed my currency and also New Zealand currency. So are you finalky able to ship to Austrakia or is that a glitch or something?
What a shop! What was the name of the purple tetras again please?
This is actually insane...
Hey Cory your out of some of your tees any idea when you have them back in
Wow awesome
I want those little flat stones!
Wow! Gorgeous!
Bro thats 22 min away from me 😂😂😂i Missed my chance to See u guys
Where is this heaven.
I’ve lost my passion for fish keeping for the last few months. I have 28 aquariums that I don’t enjoy caring for
Start breaking em down. That’s the way I find balance again.
@@AquariumCoop I recently started breaking down some tanks im not satisfied with, creating community tanks out of some others, gifting/selling critters I don’t like as much/ feel more obligation than excitement for.
Man has it given me a new outlook on scaping and species I might want to venture into next. I thought my interest was waning, but I realized I was just not satisfied with my tanks and felt like they were “complete” so I couldn’t do much to change or re-scape them without it feeling wrong.
Inspiring!
That is pretty sweet .
That's pretty dope. I wanna visit someday I'm overseas :)
@3:24 what kind of moss is that? Would you need CO2 for it? I have 70cm deep tank, would it work in that depth with led lighting?
Awesome 🫵🏻
Man.... as an American, our stores suck.
Awesome
6:27 You missed a zebra (or similar) pleco.
Hello I have a 10 gallon planted tank and I have one swordtail with Corydoras in it as of right now and I want to have fish that are active, have a personality, and are good eaters. Any suggestions for the species?
